I'm against resetting cap at any point whatsoever. I would prefer giving up my team to a new player & taking over a train wreck team myself, before I'd go along with resetting a teams cap.

A player, that lives & dies by making trades, makes his own bed by choice & shouldn't get a relief option. I don't see the logic in bailing someone out of their own mess.

The AI signings can be resolved by an experienced owner without having to resort to any of this. This would be the only viable reason to have a cap reset. It should still be discussed prior to happening for the reasons I've stated above.

100% agree with this!

The only way I see this as an option is if someone did something malicious before quitting a team which would make finding a new owner hard.

It's happened in the past where teams were 100 million over the cap with 35 players on the roster pre-draft and a new owner had to trade all his picks fast or use then void em..

Even then some owners love that challenge....I've done it a few times

Given the new tab of clearing dead cap, any new owner will get all cap cleared when joining.

That's absurd.

I just had Belichick is God join MFN-2 10 minutes before FA #2 (with my placed bids visible to top) to purposely come to attack me and bid on my players. A GM could come in with evil intent and get weaponized with an extreme amount of cap room to give them even more firepower with blanket clearances like this.

BTW his plan failed. I battled and got a stacked team, even with his pitiful efforts.

We know the deal. It's the Booger Rule. That's the guy, right? The ole cut every player and drop the team move. You can do it for that and another legitimate reason or two.

I trust Raidergreg to handle this!

Whatever he decides to do/not do is fine by me!

Good league admins can handle this responsibility

I hear you guys and at this point nobody will be getting cap relief in USFL. When this first came up, I would have considered it for our 4 newest owners but not now. Why? Well the first reason is nobody asked me and it's always been an option. The second reason is because upon further review, Georgia already got cap relief back in November so they aren't eligible.

I had mentioned earlier that I may consider Pittsburgh for next season, but CJ did a great review of his situation and a lot of that dead cap they have is a direct result of trades after Qwex took over. If Pittsburgh wanted cap relief, the time to ask was when he took over.

It's time to put this to bed and I think I have this covered where we're all happy.

1) Dead cap relief is for new owners only

2) DCR (dead cap relief) must be requested either via PM or league message board

3) In addition to rule #2, the DCR must be requested before any other moves are made

4) A DCR request does not guarantee it will be granted

5) I will review any DCR requests and give you my answer via the same way you requested unless I grant your request, in which case it will be disclosed via league message board for all to see.

6) DCR is not a get out of jail free card nor a perk for new recruits. The league has made it clear they do not want it like this and I agree.
________________________________________________________________________________

Now an explanation of why each rule is in place.

1) Any non new player has already made transactions and any cap problems presently are a direct result of that. A new player may be taking over a messy situation and the DCR is reserved for that.

2) I'm not doing this on my own, if a new player wants it they have to ask. If they want to keep it low key, they can ask via PM.

3) Once a new owner initiates a transaction that shows up in league transactions, no request will be granted. The purpose of the DCR is to give a new owner a clean slate after the previous owner screwed thing up royally. Even 1 transaction implicitly implies the new owner is fine with said cap situation.

4) Self explanatory. Just because someone asks does not automatically mean I'll grant it.

5) I will handle all DCR reviews and if I'm having a hard time deciding, I'll either ask a few current league members or I'll make a league poll. There is no set criteria for a DCR to be granted, I'll look at each request on a case by case basis and make a determination. Just be advised the cap situation has to be pretty bad.

6) Self explanatory.

Going by the above criteria, we no longer have "new owners", therefore this won't even come into play until someone currently here leaves.

JDB doesn't think anything through.

Someone just destroyed MFN-7 New England with a joining before Game #16, dumping all the major players and flooding the waiver wire with elite talent before the playoffs while giving New England $500 mil in dead cap space.

I'm ridin' on the secondary account now, 'Pac style but...

My man thinks nothing through. Pop-up alert should happen: "Move not allowed; creates XXX amount of dead cap space. Final warning." Bad person tries again. Removed and banned from league.

How can he not have done something by now. Anything.....

Hayashi has just joined the league as the owner of New England. Best of luck with your team!
