Normally I'd have time before work to either look at season stats or do the playoff previews but I'm about to leave for Cincinnati. My brother wants to eat before The Offspring so we're leaving at 4 to get to the restaurant, so we can be at the show when it starts.

I'll do both either tonight when I get home or tomorrow, depending on how long I stay up after getting home. I still feel under the weather so I may come home and go right to sleep, idrk rn.

Anyway nobody has ever told me I'm Pretty Fly For a White Guy, but whatever lol.

The concert was fun even though I prefer my music a little more metal. I've always liked The Offspring, and when they played, they were good. I say when they played because they spent like 20-25 minutes total chatting with the crowd. I've been to many concerts and I don't ever remember one where the band onstage messed around so much. I get it during a song or 2, trying to get the crowd fired up but they were quite excessive IMO.

Sum 41 opened and Simple Plan was the middle band.

When we finally got home, after sitting in the parking lot not moving for 30-40 minutes, one of my buddies needed a ride back to get his car after he dropped off his work van at the shop (he delivers donuts).

I was too tired to start the playoff previews so I went to bed. Woke up early after about 3 hours and started to write before going back to sleep. I finally got enough sleep so I'm starting to write those when I noticed something (a random observation...huh).

Birmingham and Memphis are our current #1 seeds and neither team was even in the playoffs last season. I'm not sure that's ever happened in USFL before. Usually teams that don't make the playoffs the previous year are lower seeds as going from zero to top dog in your conference is no easy task.

Throughout the regular season I posted game reviews here but for the playoffs, they will have their own, separate thread. If I'm awake and up to it, I'll probably start right after the results are in. If you don't know your game result yet, PLEASE DON"T READ PLAYOFF RECAPS, or the results will be spoiled.

Good luck if your playing tonight...except Philadelphia haha.

I figure everyone has their game results by now, but just in case you don't...STOP READING!

The Wildcard games went as expected imo as we have 8 of our best 9 teams in. I don't do power rankings but I have felt all season long that the teams still playing, plus New Orleans and San Jose were the true title contenders.

Any one of the remaining teams are capable of winning 3 more games to take the trophy. Will Houston win their 10th? Will Memphis win their 6th? If one of those two make it, will a National Conference team finally give them an L in the World Bowl?

World Bowl Records *teams still playing only

Houston 9-0
Memphis 5-0
Oklahoma 1-1
Pittsburgh 1-1
Orlando 0-1
Birmingham 0-1
Philadelphia 0-1
Michigan 0-0

I still plan on looking at the final regular season stats and I'll probably get to that sometime this weekend, especially since I got knocked out of 2 playoffs last night and have some extra time.

Best of luck to all 8 teams still playing, no matter what happens, you've all had awesome seasons and should be proud of the job you've done. Sadly only one of you will earn the right to be called 2006 World Bowl Champion, and the other seven will be disappointed. Just try not to be too disappointed because there is absolutely no shame in losing to any of the remaining opponents.

I edited the above post because I was only thinking of teams in the playoffs at first. I went back and included San Jose as a title contender because I did think he was capable of winning it until he failed to qualify.

Sorry about that Smirt, nothing personal. Just hurriedly writing, enjoying some 420 and I just forgot. If it makes you feel any better, I did not include my team as a title contender because I knew early what we were. We got spanked early by Philadelphia and Orlando and that told me all I needed to know about the 2006 Generals.

Just getting started on the playoff recaps and the Houston/Memphis game was a barnburner. They had 69 points, nice, and over 1000 combined yards with 2 lead changes in the 4th qtr. It's a shame someone had to lose, but Houston will have to wait at least one more season for their 10th title.

Oklahoma beat Michigan, but the Panthers look like a team that's going to be a routine playoff participant for the forseeable future.

Birmingham broke open a close game with a 17 point 4th quarter to get past Orlando. The Renegades are the kings of the Southeast until someone knocks them off, and they will continue to be a World Bowl threat as long as IoanBlood runs them.

Philadelphia's defense did everything they could to try and get the Bell back to the World Bowl, holding the Maulers to 13 points but Pittsburgh's defense was even better. Philadelphia are the kings of the East until someone knocks them off and they will continue to be a World Bowl threat as long as Lemon runs them.

The World Bowl looks to be a good game no matter who wins tomorrow night. Memphis will be looking for their 6th trophy, 3rd under PrivateSnowflake while Oklahoma seeks their second championship. Pittsburgh also seeks their second trophy while Birmingham seeks their first. Best of luck to all of you.
