I'm glad people are liking this format, I like it too because there is no pressure like when I did the blog. That blog needed to be completely done before I hit send and I'm not a fan of doing bits and pieces then coming back. I'd either rush the blog or rush my game planning for other leagues because I needed to get it finished.

This way, I can drop some notes then come back later, no big deal. Monday is my "early" day at work and I don't have much time before I gotta hit the shower. I do have enough time to write a little bit, so here goes.

First thing I see is the undefeated teams kept their roll going, winning by a combined score of 132-3. Oklahoma beat San Antonio 34-3 while Birmingham and Pittsburgh pitched shutouts, Stallions beating Detroit 43-0 while the Maulers crushed Charlotte 55-0.

Only 2 divisions are close, with San Jose having a 1 game lead on Honolulu and Michigan has a 1 game lead on Cleveland.

Portland, Oklahoma, Orlando, Birmingham, and Philadelphia all have 2 game leads while the Pittsburgh Maulers lead the Atlantic by 4 games.

New Jersey squeaked by Florida in OT, just the 2nd OT game all season. The other OT game came Week 1 when Houston beat Portland.

The undefeated teams are obviously on 6 game winning streaks. San Jose is on a 5 game winning streak and Memphis has won 4 in a row.

Boston and Charlotte have lost 6 in a row. Arizona and Washington have lost 4 in a row.

The South and Southwest are tied for best overall division record at 16-8.

The West is 8-16, Atlantic 9-15.

If you're curious and don't like math, the Pacific is 14-10, Midwest 10-14, Southeast 12-12 and the East is 11-13.

This is a good place/time for me to stop writing and get ready for work. I don't want to start the game by game look and just get 1 or 2 finished. See you in the morning.

Before I get to the games, we have 4 teams in the 200 points scored club: Birmingham (242), Philadelphia (232), Houston (223), and Pittsburgh (201).

Oklahoma (197) and Orlando (190) should join that club Week 7 but as it is, they are still scoring over 30 a game.

It's not like these high scoring teams are just taking advantage of bad defenses. That has something to do with it I'm sure, but looking at points allowed, only Charlotte (205) is in the bad 200 club. Might be a couple of games before the Hornets get company as the next leakiest defense is Detroit, having allowed 153 points.

Looking deeper, perhaps they are just taking advantage. League wide there are just 13 of 32 teams with 100+ points scored and 20 teams that have allowed at least 100.

Going to the other extreme, we have 5 teams scoring less than 10 per game: Denver (28), Arizona (39), Boston (41), Detroit (48), and Washington (50).

We have 3 teams allowing less than 10 points a game: Birmingham (31), Portland (48), and Oklahoma (57).

Birmingham leads in scoring offense and defense, and their point differential is +211. That means their average margin of victory is 35 points...an incredible start to their season. They only have 3 games against teams with winning records the rest of the season...New Orleans, Michigan, and Pittsburgh. It's not all a cake walk though as they only have 2 games remaining against teams with losing records and 5 with teams at .500.

Finally on to the games. I'm going in order they're listed.

New Orleans had a dominating 43-0 win over division rival Shreveport. Willie Graham threw 3 TD passes, 2 to Benjamin Jones, who caught 10 for 125 in all. The VooDoo BCBC was a 2 headed monster with Timothy Simpson rushing for 80 yards and Gerald Waldon had 77. Defensively they held the Steamer to Bo Jackson, 34 total yards. Bo was built like a brick wall and Steamer RB Ernest Percy must have thought he repeatedly ran into a brick wall as he gained 9 feet in 25 carries. Even using feet instead of yards, it still looks awful. Just 3 weeks ago New Orleans was 1-2 while Shreveport was 3-0, and these teams continue to go opposite directions. Since Week 3, New Orleans has won 3 straight while Shreveport has lost 3 straight.

Memphis beat Oakland 30-17, and had the Invaders been able to hang onto the ball perhaps they would have pulled the upset. Neither team held onto the ball as they each had 4 turnovers. Memphis had 2 INTs and 2 lost fumbles while Oakland lost 3 fumbles and had 1 INT. That was a costly INT as Denis Felton returned it 29 yards into the end zone for a Pick Six.

Chicago squeaked by Portland 7-6. The Blitz beat San Jose Week 1 but had lost 4 in a row before today. The Chicago offense struggled against the tough Portland defense, getting intercepted 3 times, sacked 4 times and losing a fumble on their way to 220 yards. Portland struggled as well, only gaining 241 yards, more than 100 below their average and Raymond Oswalt threw 2 INTs. His first INT set off a chain reaction that directly affected the outcome of the game. Chicago took over on the Portland 32 and needed 7 plays to score their 7 points. Portland punted, Chicago fumbled the ball back to the Storm on their own 13, but kicker Aaron David missed a 30 yard FG wide right. Portland's defense intercepted a pair of second half passes. Oswalt returned the favor after the first one but he led a 12 yard TD "drive" after the 2nd one and it seemed as the score would be tied at 7 early in the 4th...but then Aaron David happened. David missed the XP wide right, just like his earlier missed FG. Portland would have 3 more drives that all died around midfield and the Blitz hang on for victory.

Jacksonville beat Georgia 27-6 behind 172 yards rushing by Jackie Huhn. William Barron threw 2 TD passes to Rolando Thompson and the defense tried to make Adam Patrick the most sacked QB again, taking him down 7 times. We'll see if he is later, once I look at the stats.

Orlando beat Baltimore 34-13 despite Dwayne Byrd's 4 INTs. Byrd threw for 386 yards and 2 TDs while Baltimore QB Jerry Parker threw 1 TD and 3 INTs. Neither team ran very well but at least Orlando got 2 yards a carry while their defense borrowed the brick wall of New Orleans, holding the Stars to 4 rushing yards on 20 carries.

It's a long, long way off but could Week 16 feature a 15-0 vs 15-0 matchup? It's still possible as Birmingham and Pittsburgh face off Week 16 and they're both 6-0 now.

Pittsburgh reached 6-0 in impressive fashion, holding Charlotte to 66 total yards. The defense intercepted 3 passes, had 3 sacks, and allowed just 20 yards on 20 carries. Matthew Goebel probably lost the rushing lead but he did score a TD on his 40 yards. QB Brian White was 35/46, 458 yards, 6 TDs and 1 INT. Only 4 players caught passes...Patrick Howard caught 8 for 172 yards and 3 TDs, Eugene Williams caught 11 for 131 yards and a TD while Jason Burton caught 10 for 125 and 2 TDs. Goebel caught 6 for 30.

Honolulu beat Los Angeles 10-9. Los Angeles led 6-0 at the half and retook the lead 9-7 with just over 4 minutes to play. The Express defense forced a three and out but the offense failed to run out the clock. They had a 3rd and 6 from their own 44 inside the 2 minute warning and the real NFL would have seen a run, forcing Honolulu to call a timeout before the punt that would hopefully pin them inside their 20. This isn't the NFL though and Myron Dustin's pass was intercepted. Honolulu moved the ball down to the 26 and as time expired, kicker Michael Marmon booted a 45 yard FG to give the Hawaiians the win.

Again, it's early but the Southern California Sun might be having their best season since 1988, dfisherman's 2nd season owning the Sun. Since that division winning season, the Sun have not won more than 6 games in a season but here they are 3-3. On the surface 3-3 isn't great but the Sun have the 12th ranked offense and 13th ranked defense. That tells me they are playing solid football and not just getting lucky.

Today the Sun won despite going 1/10 on 3rd down while allowing Washington to convert half, 7/14. Both the Federals and the Sun ran the bell well but the Southern California defense forced 2 turnovers and allowed just 50% completion percentage while John Barrios completed 14/17.

That's 8 games done, 8 to go...time for a quick break to vote. Polls open at 6:30 and I want to vote because they are trying to change our state constitution. It's been fine for decades but now they want to change requirements to get bills on the ballot and the whole thing smells like political fuckery. It's the only thing on the ballot and the line should be short if there is one.

Before I get back to the games, I need to vent. I recently saw an article that said, based on insurance and accident data that Dayton, Ohio drivers are the 2nd worst in the country. Speaking from experience I can only say I freaking hope so, because it's hard to imagine worse driving elsewhere. If I was faster with video editing and had no other outside interests, I could start a YouTube channel based on my dashcam video. I see several instances of dumb driving every time I'm behind the wheel.

Yesterday at work it was worse than normal. I almost got blasted by a couple of rich teenage girls (I assume they were rich because I was in Oakwood, our richest suburb) who blew through a stop sign on a side street. Idk why I hesitated going through the intersection when I had the right of way, I was gonna turn but then decided to go straight and then I caught the girls out of the corner of me eye and let them go, honking the horn. They immediately stopped 2 houses down, and I was hoping they would try to come back and say something but they didn't.

That was the worst of several dumb things I saw/was almost involved in. So I come home, write a bit and go vote. The polling place is just a few blocks away but I almost got hit by a school bus that must have thought it was a 4 way stop but I didn't have a stop sign.

Fast forward to this afternoon and I need to go to the bank, drug store, and convenience store. The bank and drug store are right next to each other and the lot has some construction blocked off to fix massive potholes so there isn't much room. Some lady left the drive thru lane of the bank and just stopped in the drive lane where I needed to go. Had to speed around her like an asshole. OK, whatever. So I leave the bank to go to the convenience store and I'm on the main drag going 40 mph when some nimrod pulls out in front of me and takes forever to try to get up to speed so I have to speed around him like an asshole or drive into his back bumper.

I go to the convenience store and as I'm leaving, I say to myself "please don't let me see any assholes on my drive home". Hahahahaha. I get out on the street and another nimrod pulls out in front of me when I'm at driving speed. I honk and flip him off and he starts speeding up at least. Then he wants to turn on the same side street as me so it looks like I'm following him wanting to fight. He just kept driving though so here I am, staying in the house until I go to work tomorrow because Dayton drivers are the absolute worst.

These are not isolated incidents either. Way too many times I run into stupid drivers on short trips. People around here are quite selfish. They enter/exit parking lots however they want regardless of what the signs say. Exit only? Just a suggestion. Stop signs mean keep going through unless a car is coming the other way, then stomp on your brakes halfway in the intersection. It just goes on and on and on...

One thing I'm glad of is my driving ability. I've been a delivery driver for the better part of 38 years, and while I'm not perfect, the mistakes others make vs my mistakes is like 100 to 1 or more I don't really count. Another thing I'm glad for is my dashcam, I recommend everyone get one because even if an accident seems clearly someone else's fault, people lie. Cameras don't.

OK, back to the games.

I keep talking good about Birmingham every week, but with good reason...they are stomping teams. Detroit was the latest victim, taking it on the chin 43-0. The Birmingham defense had 4 INTs and 3 sacks, allowing 142 yards and no red zone trips. Offensively QB Russell Gall only had 4 passes hit the ground, completing 32/37 with an INT, 368 yards and 3 TDs. Lee Ramos ran for 111 yards and 2 TDs. Only sort of bad thing you could say for the Stallions is they only scored 2 TDs in 6 red zone trips. That might be a concern in the playoffs but not when your defense controls the other team like today.

Oklahoma beat San Antonio 34-3 and the box score looks similar to the previous game. Oklahoma's defense held the Gunslingers to 99 total yards and 1/15 on 3rd down, although they forced zero turnovers. QB Raymond Settles threw for 3 TDs and 1 INT while Steven McCurdy ran for 130 yards and a score.

New Jersey got by Florida in OT 16-13. My 30th ranked defense played well, allowing just 219 yards, almost 170 below our average with 3 sacks and an INT. Generals QB Kevin Via threw his 2nd TD pass of the season and completed 33/46 but he's still not getting the ball down the field as his YPA is too low for my liking. Florida RB Graham Folks ran for 135 yards in the loss. New Jersey kicker Howie "Stump" Schwab missed a pair of FGs in 5 attempts but the misses were a 61 yard try at the end of the first half and a 55 yard try in the 3rd. He did make the 53 yard game winning FG in OT so all is good for now.

Philadelphia beat Tampa Bay 30-16. The Bell took a 20-3 lead into the 4th but the Bandits made it 20-13 before Joel Jasso found Ryan Davis with a 69 yard TD pass to push the lead back to 14. Tampa Bay was able to move the ball on Philadelphia, gaining 322 yards, including 156 on the ground. The Bandits converted 8/18 3rd downs but 3 INTs killed any momentum. Jasso didn't have his best game with just 1 TD and 2 INT but he did throw for 399 yards and got Roderick Uribe back into the offense as he caught 6 for 177 yards.

The New York Stars beat the Boston Breakers 16-7. The (NY) Stars used a good running game (26 for 160), a dink and dunk passing game (28/45 155 yards) and a bend but don't break defense to get the win. Jamie Orman completed passes to 10 different receivers. Boston QB Tristan Arnold completed 26/32 for 226 yards but could have used more help from the running game.

I mentioned Denver's win right after the game sim ran, but not only did the Gold get their first win of the season, they also scored their first 2 TDs of the season. For a couple of teams with 3 combined wins, the QBs had a good day. Richard Crum completed 20/28, 208 yards 2 TDs and an INT for the winning Gold while Curtis Kim completed 20/23 for Arizona, although for only 128 yards.

Cleveland and Michigan were tied for first place before their Week 6 game, the first of 2 on the season. The winner would have sole possession of first and the Panthers took it to the Thunderbolts today. Michigan had 27 first downs to 9 for Cleveland. Offensively, the Michigan BCBC had 235 yards and a TD on 40 carries while QB Willie Reddish completed 23/36, 295 yards and 2 TDs, completing passes to 9 different receivers. Defensively they held Cleveland to 52 total yards. Thunderbolt QB Carl Langlois completed 10/21 for 58 yards, 2 INTs and 6 sacks for minus 60 yards, giving Cleveland negative 2 yards passing.

Last game to talk about is the heavyweight fight at the end of this week's card between the defending champion Houston Gamblers and the Pacific Division leader San Jose SaberCats. CJ and Smirt would be virtual locks if MFN had a Mt. Rushmore and their combined titles across all leagues is probably at least 150, if not pushing 200. I know Smirt has over 100 and just in the USFL they have a combined 9 titles. Setherick won Houston's first World Bowl but CJ won the other 8 while Smirt finally got his here with San Jose after coming close with the VooDoo.

San Jose got the ball first and turned it over on downs but Houston QB Dale Baber gave the ball right back with an INT. The SaberCats next 3 drives also ended with a turnover on downs, allowing Houston to score 17 first quarter points for a 17-0 lead. That was it for the Gamblers offense as the rest of their drives either ended with a punt, turnover on downs, an interception or 3 (Baber had 4 in all), a lost fumble or a safety.

Before I get to the rest of the game, I came across something on the SaberCats social media. Remember when Smirt said Jacob Newman sucks and since then, he's went off? They remember, and they are turning it into a marketing opportunity by selling Jacob Newman Sucks T-shirts, with the proceeds supporting the San Jose Feed the Hungry campaign. Nice to see they turned this into a positive when it could have torn the team apart.

That's an important team dynamic when you find yourself down 17-0 to the champs. I mentioned that Houston's offense stalled after the 17 point first quarter, but what did the San Jose offense do the last 3 quarters? Raymond Still had 92 yards rushing and 2 TDs, QB Larry Henderson finished the game 47/72, 360 yards, 2 TDs, and an INT and Jacob Newman sucked to the tune of 13 catches for 121 yards. Henderson was sacked 9 times but he led the SaberCats to 41 unanswered points and they get the victory.

San Jose maintains their 1 game lead on Honolulu while Houston falls to 2 games behind Oklahoma.

Break time before I dig into stats.

I'm going to try and be brief with the stats, I still have 4 games to deal with tonight.

Joel Jasso (Philadelphia) still leads in passing yards by nearly 300 over 2nd place Larry Henderson (San Jose). Jasso has 2,404 yards, 9.98 yards per attempt (1st), 19 TDs (2nd) against just 6 INT, 9 sacks and he has a QBR of 116.95 (2nd).

Henderson has 2,114 yards, Dale Baber (Houston) has 2,111 and Dwayne Byrd (Orlando) has 2,069.

Russell Gall (Birmingham) is 7th in passing yards (1,715) but he's 2nd in yards per attempt (8.21), 1st in TD passes (20) and 1st in QBR (126.39). He's also thrown just 2 INTs with 9 sacks.

Dwayne Byrd and Dale Baber are tied for the lead with 15 INTs thrown.

Looks like Matthew Goebel (Pittsburgh) does still lead the league in rushing with 614 yards, although Graham Folks (Florida) closed the gap and now has 574 yards. Steven McCurdy's (Oklahoma) big game has him in 3rd with 535 yards.

We have a 3 way tie for the rushing TD lead as Raymond Stills (San Jose), Thomas Frank (Portland), and Matthew Goebel all have 5.

I haven't looked at rushing attempts yet, but only 4 carry the ball 20 times a game: Ernest Percy (Shreveport) leads with 139 carries, Matthew Goebel has 133, Graham Folks 124 and Thomas Frank 121.

Only 10 ball carriers get it 15 times a game as more teams switch to a BCBC approach.

The WR yardage list has a clear separation between the top 6 and the rest, although a big game can change that. Patrick Howard of Pittsburgh has two thirds of the triple crown, leading the league in yardage (862) and TDs (9). Too bad we can't change names after the fact because I think he should now be named Jacob Newman sucks. Idk why I find this funny but I do. Anyway, Mr. Sucks leads the league with 69 receptions, 14 more than Benjamin Jones (New Orleans).

Following Howard on the yardage list is Roderick Uribe (Philadelphia) who hit the slot machine with 777 yards, Benjamin Jones has 730, Lex Luger (Houston) 716, Jacob Newman (San Jose) 674, and Brian Henson (Orlando) 660. Next up on the list has 470 yards.

If you want your kicker to lead the league in FGs, make sure his first name is Samuel. Oklahoma's Samuel Diaz is a perfect 17/17 this season while Tampa's Samuel Oakes is 17/18.

League wide kickers have made 323/373 FGs, for a percentage of 86.6%. Kickers from long range, 50+ yards, are 56/78 for 71.7%.

Daniel Pitts (Florida) has the longest FG this season at 59 yards.

Baltimore WLB Lazaro Mason has the rare double of leading the league in tackles (60) and missed tackles (18).

I figured someone would crack the double digit mark in sacks this week but I was wrong, although William Peterson (Birmingham) now has company at the top of the leaderboard. I'm not going to name them all but we now have 5 players tied with 9 sacks. I'm sure this tie will get broken down some after tonight's action and I'll name names then.

Los Angeles DE Kenneth Rasco leads the league with 15 hurries.

Brian Henry (Birmingham) leads the league with 7 INTs. Jason Winborne (San Jose) has 6 while Houston's Robert Patton has 5.

Oh, I should mention the trade deadline (Week 8 kickoff) is approaching so if you want to make any deals, time to get to work.

As a resident of a state beside Ohio, there is no worse scourge upon the roads of WV than Ohio license plates. Idk how you deal with it everyday Greg but good luck!

Here in Cincy, we get the treat of Kentucky drivers. Eyes closed, gas pedal welded to the floor, lane optional.

Michigan seconds this. I think we were high on this list but it is mostly southeast Michigan I.e. close to Ohio.

I've taught 9 kids to drive and the single biggest thought I put in all my kids heads is that you can be a perfect driver, safe & law abiding but it's the asshole who doesn't drive safe or doesnt follow the laws that creates accidents most of the time.....so always create and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles because you never know what crazy **** other drivers will do!!

It's gotten worse overall the last 10 years with cell phones and driving, put down the **** phone.

So true. Driving in Detroit I swear people are trying to make you run into them. I found that if you give multiple car lengths to slow drivers they will speed up, but if you tailgate they will maintain low speed. Keeping distance is totally key, one car length for every ten MPH.

I used to rage, but just decided to fight stupid with effortless responsibility. It has made me not freak out so much.
