I want to say I'm the greatest owner in MFN! My roster construction is elite and my gameplans are flawless and impossible to defeat. I want to say I float like a butterfly and sting like a bee!
But it's all not true!!!
I'm good but going 8-0 in the World Bowl is mostly about LUCK!!! I very easier could have lost this one and several others in the past....trust me I've lost my share of Title games in other leagues and it's not a good feeling!
I've said it before and I will say it again....it's better to be lucky then great!
I could very easily lose every Title game I make from here on out until season 50 of the USFL and not be able to complain about it with a straight face!!!
My philosophy has always been to just make the playoffs anyway possible and then just roll the dice. Personally, I've won 7 of the 8 Titles and rarely was I the top seed.
1984 #3 seed
1985 #1 seed
1988 #2 seed
1994 #2 seed
1995 #1 seed
1996 #3 seed
1999 #2 seed
This is a great league run by a great admin...that's rare in MFN and I want to encourage everyone to keep grinding. I'm not special and I'm not doing anything to win that anyone cant easily do themselves..
Below are a few easy tips for success, if you get easily insulted or simply don't want my tips....STOP READING!!!!
TIPSQB
pass accuracy
Intelligence
Look off defense
Field of vision
These are the big 4 skills and the rest is mostly window dressing.
RB
Speed
Ball carry
Avoid fumble
If you can find a 90+ speed back with 100 ball carry...he can be a stud. Avoid fumble is important but if I have a 92 speed back with 100 ball carry but 50 Avoid fumble...he is starting
WR
Speed
Pass courage
Route running
Pass catch
B&R
Again speed is king and pass courage is very important because 95% of passes are in tight coverage. The rest are nice and can be used but a 95 speed WR with 95 courage has the rest in the 40s...he starts
OL
Run block
Pass block
Speed
Acceleration
Strength
Run & pass block is all I really care about but I will consider the other 3 when comparing players in free agency and the draft....if a player is 100/100 blocking but 50 strength...he starts...I've found strength over-valued in player weights which leaves me plenty of older talent available in free agency.
DL
Speed
Pass rush
Strength
Run defense
Again speed is king and a solid pass rush are all you need on the defensive front....once again strength is over-valued while I have 80 speed/100 pass rush/50 strength players in the top 5 in sacks season after season. Run defense is nice to have along with strength but they aren't necessary or needed. The defensive line gets shallowed up by blockers which means they rarely make tackles...go check the leaderboard for tackles and you may have to browse a couple pages before tge 1st DL shows up.
LB
Speed
M2M
tackle
Run defense
Pass rush
Strength
The hardest position to fill because you need speed and cover skills like a DB along with tackle, run defense and pass rush. Once again is I have a +85 speed LB with 90+ M2M then the rest is secondary and he starts.
DB
Speed
M2M
B&R
Courage
Zone
It you haven't noticed the theme, speed rules with M2M and B&R primary. If I have all 3 +90...he starts. Courage is close to primary because it plays a part in most contested passed. I don't worry too much about zone but it's nice to have with safeties during certain defensive plays.
If you use these to adjust your player weights and you can put together a solid roster based on them then you are around 35% there for winning it all....50% is gameplanning and then 15% is luck.
Anyone interested in getting some gameplanning tips...PM me and I will help if I can by pointing you in the right direction.
Good luck to you all and I look forward to competing against all of you next season
