...and I'm back y'all. September ended up taking a bit longer than it normally does.
Good games to anyone that I didn't say good game to through the first seven games.
Check your LB's that are playing DE. Some of them are breaking the standards set for weight/speed.

They should be all < 80 SP, but I'll double check.
Update: Oh, Haley managed to get to 80 SP, crazy. I think that's still within the letter of that rule.

The rule, as written, does say speed no greater than 80 which makes 80 on the dot all good.

I don't mean to be dense, but where is the violation Crazy Razor calling to our attention? This is the most recent edition of this rule, correct? McKeon Rule: A linebacker must weigh a minimum of 255 pounds to play defensive end or if under the weight limit have a speed no greater than 80.

According to the rule, there is no violation. I just want him to keep an eye on his players. Obviously, he's right at the threshold.

Trust me. I'm taking notes.
Please do. I appreciate the help, and even though there was no violation, it doesn't hurt to remind everyone there are rules in place. We lost a player in the CJ universe for "unwittingly" breaking the rule.

I'm surprised that the one player hit the 237 / 80 threshold. He started out at 290+ / 73. I expected him to hit 240 / 79.
Regardless, he's generally worthless at DE, which is why he was buried on the bench and I think has had a handful of snaps this season at either DE or LB.
Trust me, CR, I will never break the rule unless something really wonky happens. I'm well aware of the 50/7 rule. ;)

Another issue I found is the rule for the defensive line was established with the intention that defensive linemen would play on the defensive line.
A caveat was added in case of injury to use underweight linebackers in the depth chart with speed no faster then 80.
The flaw in the rule is some teams carry only 4 to 5 defensive linemen so depth is immediately challenged and the result is LDE2 and RDE2 are 237 pound linebackers.
No the rule isn't violated but I think its not really the spirit of the rule.
My opinion, I'm not the league admin but having no defensive line depth sorta falsely creates depth issues.
5 DL 0 DT One team has 5 defensive linemen, no DTs and a 237 pound LB is RDE2 and LDE2.
4 DL 1 DT Another team has 4 defensive linemen with one of them as LDE5, RDE5 and DT5 while a 240 LB is LDE2, RDE2 and DT4.
5 DL 0 DT A third team has 5 defensive linemen with no DT. One of them is LDE4 & RDE4 while a 246 pound linebacker with 85 speed is LDE3 & RDE3 (VIOLATION MEMPHIS).
IMO....We need to create a minimum number required for defensive line and defensive tackle. Looks to me like 28 owners already are doing it.

Or ... you could do what I suggested way back during the McKeon controversy and what we instituted in Paydirt during the same time, and have the rule say that 276# is the minimum weight for a DL.
Otherwise, I'm going to play to whatever the rule says.
