I think we need a middle ground. Exploit ball is one extreme but switching to no positional changes is the other extreme. As player creation stands now, we'll need to switch some players because too often players are better at a different position than they're listed as.

It's sounding like we won't even be able to move a DE to LB and imo that's not better than what we have now.

So this is the point to clarify. I think we will never have RL conditions. So JDB has / had to find a solution. It was and it will(?) be weight associated speed at any position for the time being. So I think the first programming gave an average weight (lbs) of RL positional players at each position. As other skills like strength, blocking etc. didn't work in assumed manner (skill points), the glitch was born. A light weighted speedy player was (is) superior to nearly any other skill with nearly no risk of injury.
That's the base to work with right now. It can only be improved in future by giving all other skills a respective weight.

I don't think you're understanding this correctly (or maybe I am not). If you draft a LB to play DE, just change his position to DE and you can play him there. You just can't keep him listed as a LB to keep his speed up while playing him at DE. This is a great "for now" solution to the exploits. I would like to see the code fixed in the future so that those exploits wouldn't work, but for now this should be a huge leap Forward for the game.

Can I get clarification on this:

"The new depth chart has some tweaks to the way you interact with it, including that it now limits how you can move players to another position, whether by changing their position or putting them in the depth chart. What does this mean? Under or overweight players will be restricted to positions they're fit for."

If you already have an idea, how over or underweight can a player be to be allowed into a position on the depth chart? What is the limit for position changes as well and is it based off the players generated weight or current weight? Will players who become overweight or underweight automatically be removed from the depth chart?

More simply....can you draft a 250-260 lb TE and convert him to RB which is a very common practice in MFN?

If yes, then does he have to reach a set weight in order to be eligible to play RB?

In general will you be able to change a players position at all? And when? Only after a draft or can a 10 year vet switch positions?

Many owners have made the assumption from your comments that position changes won't be an option under the new UI and we would like clarification

How about we have the player's weights customizable and governed by a league admin? For example, have min & max box of a player's position weight, like QB min weight 170 max weight 250?

why have any position limitations at all?

join Anything Goes roster only league!

its all fair if everyone can do it ......figure it out. Refrigerator Perry style....the game is on the line.......injury levels are set to max.....gotta have a deep squad https://agro.myfootballnow.com/

Not that I expected anyone to be particularly excited by the changes you've seen so far, but understanding the rationale behind them might help.

Sir, I regretfully inform you that I am very excited. Then again, I'm always excited, so take that with a grain of salt ;)
(That would be a joke that includes self-deprecation. Clarity provided for the community. Inside joke was had, at least I chuckled).

Thank you for all you do. Above, beyond, and in-between.
Also, I only read the initial post by JDB.
Do not consider this post as a response to any other individual.
Also, I deleted the defensive mansplaining and y'all are welcome LMAO.

Would a maximum weight change percentage, up or down, help penalize with the players playing a new position that is significantly different than they entered the league at?

For example if a RB was unable to get to ideal RB weight, wouldn't they in turn be potentially/proportionally lower performing than their listed ratings because they were heavier?

Or if some lighter DB was converted to a DE, in theory lineman would be able to easily block them because they didn't gain enough weight so their ratings would be significantly lower than listed.

And, most importantly, make the change more gradual. It should take a couple years for significant weight change. Make it where it only moves 1 pound a spin

Doesn’t really address the issue of why people do most position changes or play out of position. Adding penalty to a game that is full of penalties within the coding would border unbearable.
