Personally, I'm coming up on 5 years playing MFN in October.
It's not a finished product but it's free and enjoyable if you can enjoy the long view.
Having 2 leagues at or near 25 seasons has been great fun and I love the accumulated data & stats. I get a real kick out of sorting and playing with the stats.
If you own 1 team....you are looking at a daily commitment of 10-15 minutes on average with some days being longer. I play exclusively on my phone so it's my goto "thing" when I have a few minutes to kill.
I've been through 5 versions in those 5 years and each has had its pros & cons. JDB has been doing this coding alone for years with feedback from the 300 or so owners who play the sim.Sim.
I hate to see anyone leave since I plan on sticking around until the end (one way or the other). With that said, if anyone isn't enjoying MFN in any respect that I certainly understand leaving. This Sim isn't for everyone and I would hope they would find something they do enjoy.
For me, I love MFN (warts and all) because it allows me to run a francise completely....from the allocation draft, subsequent drafts, trades, resigning players, free agency, managing the depth chart plus ganeplanning and creating situational rules...I can put my stamp on any team I own and compete, season after season!
I also enjoy the passionate community of owners even though it's a relatively small group. There are definately levels when it comes to owners but luck also plays a factor in the end which does keep things from becoming stale and monotonous. It truly is "any given sunday" despite the fact some owners win a majority of their games.
There is always more any owner can do to become better and it's only limited to the amount of work each owner is willing to put in.
I hope enough owners stick around with me as we all take this Neverending journey with JDB. Like he said, slow and steady because if you want fast, continuous updates....this isn't the game for you.
Just my own thoughts and opinions
