I know this is an issue already and I know I saw this on another thread but i couldn't find it. Anyways, I was watching the conference championship game in MFN-1 between Tennessee and New Jersey where NJ QB Gene Day got sacked 8 times, seven of which were allowed by an 80 overall Offensive lineman Jose Cameron who has a pass blocking of 99 and strength of 77.
Although he did work against an outstanding Rookie Defensive End who got 5 sacks going up against Cameron, You would think Cameron would at least give up less sacks with his experience and pass blocking and all. But maybe it was the Defensive Ends speed?
Either way you look at it, pass blocking still needs improvement as it seems on most plays the OL holds their blocks for 2-4 seconds max before giving up. It also seems to be the elite offensive tackles that get beat more often than not rather than 2nd string offensive tackles.
One main problem could be the speed of the offensive lineman since their max speed usually hovers around 10-25? If that could possibly be the case, then the speed of the offensive lineman could maybe be increased to 30-45 to decrease the chances of defensive ends of beating out elite offensive lineman by speed. A lot of the time its Defensive ends and tackles getting sacks despite having a average at best pass rush and it could be from their speed.
The other issue of course is the time the OL holds their blocks before giving up, which could be resolved by the better the pass blocking rating is, the longer the blocking is engaged, but that may be the way it already works now?
Of course I dont really know how the algorithm for the pass rush and pass blocking actually works, but it definitely needs a little work to improve the game experience for me imo. Hopefully this is one of the issues that is pretty high on the priority list.
