Did I mention this QB is 96/96 overall?
100 pass accuracy
92 arm strength
93 pass release
97/100 look off defender
97 field of vision
97 intelligence

I have a high pick in another league that is drafting today. This settles it. I'm not taking a QB. They don't matter.

Two good running backs. Run up the middle on first down, run up the middle on second down, throw short on third down (or run again). Rinse and repeat. That's what the game has become.

Minus t hat 77 yard pass you still average over 10 yards a conpletion. Thiat is pretty high compared to the nfl. In other words too many deep passes. Brady and manning dont go deep often. Even a guy with a top arm like brees onlty completes 20 passes over 20 yards on aversge per year.

I just want to know why my guy over performs. When comparex to overall. Much like in mfn 1 when the pressure algorithm was changed. I was on the fence. Cause prior i i had little trouble creating pressure. Now here i see the passing game is the same.

In other words gameplan should matter and ive used the same scheme in all leagues right from the beginning and iif iin the future it ts easier to pass so be it. But much like the pressure change i think it is a little hasty.

Im getting by with low rated linemen and with a defensive minded team my offense routinely plays well. I think the players should change the way the play the game. Not change the code here. Its not just punt returns. There are so many fieldgoals also. Just too many 4th downs. So many other things to look at. Before changes like this should be made.

But qbs dont need to be stronger. Note i am drafting linemen high as others shy away right now. They stink but why pick worse guys and expect things to get better.

I know the game is frustrating right now for some but i would look from within the code for a little while on this one.

I'm in mfn48 and did just that (new league). NOT worth it and am now regretting this tactic big time.
And to answer WarEagles comment on High rated QBs are not worth it, been saying that for a while now.
Here, play this little game, watch a pre season game with two teams you know nothing about, maybe a league you're not in, watch the QBs and take a few quick notes, then when the game has finished guess which QBs are the high rated and which aren't. More often than not I rate the 2nd stringers as being higher rated.....what do I know

Just won a bullshit game I should have lost. My 84 QB went 8/18 for 107 yards, no TDs, and 2 bad (really bad) INTs. He consistently ignored underneath routes so that he could throw the ball incomplete downfield. My playbook is weighted correctly for short passing plays, which means he's choosing to throw the long passes. This suggests there is a bad bug somewhere with FOV where a high FOV is either preventing QBs from seeing short routes or overvaluing downfield routes. Fortunately, I won because my punt return man went nuts with 6 returns for 230 yards and 2 TDs.

Why spend any time gameplanning when games are won and lost on random bullshit like punt returns?

Are you still having crazy punt returns? My last two games h have been much more realistic in terms of punting.

Pittsburgh
Name Ret Yds Avg Lng TDs
Devin Nelson
6 230 38 77 2

The crazier thing is how the PR TDs unfolded.

On this one, Nelson pulls all of the defenders to the middle and then cuts outside. The punter has a chance to stop, but barely slows him down: Pittsburgh: http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/watch/1261#244897

This one is basically the same as the first one: http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/watch/1261#244904

Since my anti-virus pops a warning for a trojan installer every time I'm on this site for more than a few minutes (I'm pretty sure that one of the web ads is infected), it's probably best if I stay away from the site for a few days anyway.

Last post for this thread. Maybe last post for me. I'm getting really tired of wasting my time on this game.

I went to a pitch and catch game because in one of the earlier posts it was described as one of the only ways to get a good passing game. I said before it wouldn't work, and at best it had been a mild improvement over my QBs 5/22 game earlier in the season.

Then in a do or die game my QB went 11/18 - 51 - 0 - 2. EPIC! No wait, the other thing, stupid.

http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/box/1312

I give this season in MFN-19 a 4/10. The passing game and punt returns ruined any chance I had at making the playoffs despite having the best running game in the league.

I also observed the following issues:

1) The passing game league-wide was ****. We had one QB finish with more than 3000 yards and a QBR of over 90. All of the other league minimum guys had a QBR <90
2) Interceptions were way out of control.
3) Lack of QB scrambles killed so many drives as the QB would run parallel to the LOS and wait to be sacked.
4) Completion percentage in general was way down. And it's not like every team ran a throw deep every down offense.
5) Sacks are way out of control. Two players had >40 and six had >30.
6) The punt return game was stupid. Just stupid. I like seeing a PR TD, but I don't like seeing players getting 1800 yards and 11 TDs.
7) Tackling is atrocious. It's the one defensive skill that needed attention and didn't get it.
8) Outside runs are impossible, but somehow...
9) ...inside runs are overpowered. My backs ran for 2093 yards on 350 carries and 919 yards on 144 carries. All up the middle.

I can deal with missing the playoffs because my gameplanning was problematic in the first few games and my schedule put me on the road for five of my first six against some of the best teams in the league. I don't think I can stand another season of mediocre passing game and tackling.

+1

Put another way: I finished 16-0 and am still ready to give up.

Curious that code seemed to dramatically change for final two games. Otherwise, we'd have had no QBs with a rating above 85 for the year.

Personally, I don't really have any complaints about this. I guess it all comes down to what you consider elite. I do agree with the sentiment that linemen are not that good, but I haven't really experienced any glaring problems on that either. Maybe it's the leagues I'm in. BUT the official blog was a lot of help in deciding how to approach this game.

That's awesome that you have an opinion, but if you read the whole thread, this was a league wide problem that I traced using stats from about week 5 on. The league never got better. I used plays from my games to show the quirkiness of the code. So unless you think the whole league needs to reread the official blog, I don't see what the point of this post was.
