Pass accuracy causes more interceptions at the moment? Wow, that's counter-intuitive.
It would be if it be true. But it's nonsense.
Counterexample:
Pass Accuracy 100 ->
https://ncaa.myfootballnow.com/player/380301 pass attempts (from that 126 medium & 12 long) in 10 games and only 4 interceptions.
Side info: 3 picks happened on short passes, 1 on a long pass...
121 pa ,77 comp ,63.6 % ,998yrds ,8.25ypg , 4/35 s/sa, 8td , 2int ,104.63 rating.
These numbers are with long passes called 75% of the time and a 98 accuracy qb. I don't think it's necessarily about short , med., and long distances anymore. To me Thier kinda like 1,3, and 5 step drops. Like the qb doesn't really throw the ball until he sets his feet after he has completed his drop back.
Lately the question for me is where will my recievers be by then and will they be open...vs. the general defense scheme hopefully applied in that senerio. Can/ will my qb make that throw? If he has enough time. ....
My teams not the best for long passes but we've got a strong armed qb , some playmakers, and a decent oline. Not that a defensive can't play the long pass vs. them. I am pretty sure they can get shut down .
As for plays that go for long yards , I think the run after the catch is where you'll see that. Whether it's a 5 to 10 yard slant or a back out of the backfield . Qbs rarely launch it deep (40+ yards ) to the wr 1 or WR2 anymore vs. A deep cover defense.
Arm has never really mattered . Now in my opinion it the second highest valuable qb rating behind accuracy . ...which I raised considerably in comparison to other relevant qb ratings for 4.5. Imo, only accuracy , arm and release matter in 4.5
Everything else is preference as those 3 modify accuracy . Pressure is more often now but it doesn't effect the qb as much. Combine that with qbs not running, and strange end route senerios (when the wrs done with his route he'll run anywhere.) the offense is really hampered compared to the nfl. They'd make smarter decisions . ..all qbs are as mobile as Chis Redman now and you have to play like pocket passers in most senerios because of it.
Simply said a great qb won't throw many interceptions almost under any senerio . Unless you abuse plays. My 3 offensive play 3 defensive play scheme was unstoppable vs. an exposed opponent , but by play 10 the abuse took hold and we gave up a 35 point lead at the half to lose vs. A team who played an 8 man front all game with 30 speed dbs.
