2020 NFL Picks ATS

Doing this just for fun again, for now. I'm strongly considering betting online again, but if I do, I'll probably wait until next week, as I don't like betting blind.

Survivor Pick: Indianapolis...Jacksonville is horrible, and should be the worst team in the league. I'll be looking at their opponent first every week I survive.

Survivor Teams Used: None yet

For point spread picks, I'll use https://www.scoresandodds.com/, whatever the current line is at the time I post.

I will pick 5 games each week, though I'm only posting one game right now. I'll post the other 4 before 1:00 Sunday.

Week 1 Picks

Kansas City -9.5

I might have considered the over, but it's high at 53.5. With nobody playing any preseason games, I suspect timing may be off a bit and that will reflect on the scoreboard. Chiefs have way too many weapons though, and I think they win by something like 31-17.

If you ended up going with the over, you had a wild ride that ended in happiness last night.

That's for sure, but I have never been much of a totals bettor, I prefer taking sides.

Off to a good start so far but it's just 1 game. The rest of this weeks picks:

Indianapolis -8
Green Bay +2.5
Dallas -2.5
Tennessee -3

Jacksonville has the look of last year's tanking Dolphins and even Mr. Bolo Tie can't screw this up. Green Bay ran the ball on the Vikings last year, and they should again, especially with their DL banged up. Packers WRs might mostly be no names, but they were there last year. Rodgers > Cousins and no Diggs. On paper, Dallas is one of the best teams in the league, and losing Jason Garrett should be a good thing. I'm not sure what's going on with the Rams, but they seem like a team in decline. Donkeys just lost Von Miller among many, many injuries and I expect a heavy dose of Derrick Henry with some A.J. Brown big plays mixed in.

If the Dallas/Los Angeles game should be postponed due to the wildfires, replace that pick with Buffalo -7.

Last Week 2-3

After starting 1-0 last Thursday, Sunday sucked. Got knocked out of survivor with Indy so obviously they did not cover. If the Flaming Thumbtacks had a good kicker, I'm 3-2, but they didn't cover against the Donkeys. I fell asleep before SNF was over, but I didn't like the OPI against Gallup. Nobody asked me though so it's still a loss. At least Green Bay won.

Normally I don't like taking the road team on a short week, but the Bengals didn't travel far and I believe in Burrow. This week, he's gonna make sure it doesn't come down to the kicker and the Bengals win 27-24. Browns will be driving late, but either Mayfield throws an INT or the kicker will miss the tying FG like Bullock did for the Bengals in Week 1.

Week 2 Picks

Cincinnati +5.5

Sometimes you scout a game right but a couple fluky plays make you a loser. Other times you scout a game wrong but benefit from the garbage time backdoor cover. That Tyler Boyd last minute TD helped my fantasy team as well as made my pick a winner.

Burrow is gonna be great as long as he doesn't get killed by the OL, geez. The Bengals might have added some pieces to shore up their run defense but 2 weeks in and all I see is their defense literally being pushed around. They can't get off blocks, hence all the big chunk runs.

Alright, let's see how I do today. For Monday night, I'm not picking it but if fans were allowed in, I would pick Vegas and the points. With no fans cheering them on, I don't see how the Raiders depleted defense stops Kamara even with no Michael Thomas. Obviously hope I'm wrong.

Philadelphia -1.5
Pittsburgh -6.5
Dallas -4
Arizona -7

I also considered Green Bay -6, Car/TB Over 47, Atl/Dal Under 53.5

The line on Rams/Eagles started out -4.5 and is now down to 1.5, so I'll take Philly at home. Eagles ****, but this seems like a bad spot for the Rams, especially with it feeling like a 10:00 am game. Idk how but Philly wins by at least 2.

Denver is banged up and on the road for what is an 11:00 am game for them after playing in the late game Monday night. Pittsburgh's defense should have little trouble stopping the Donkeys offense and I can see Big Ben lighting it up at home.

Dallas is a better team than they showed Sunday night and the Falcons ****. Atlanta will get some yards, and may even make a game of it, but they make too many mistakes for my liking. Cowgirls should win by 7.

I know Football Team beat the Eagles but I still have no faith in them. Cardinals are pretty good and their speed should be more than enough to win by double digits against the team formerly known as the Foreskins.

If I was really betting on these games, I'd be pretty angry, especially at Dallas and Pittsburgh. I was so hoping Greg the Leg missed that kick for the Cowgirls, they really deserve to lose that game.

So after a backdoor cover Thursday, Dallas and Pittsburgh win but don't cover. I was correct that Atlanta is a punk team, it's like that Super Bowl all over again, but because Dallas wanted to be all dramatic and have a big comeback instead of just holding onto the football, so they don't cover.

Pittsburgh? How in the **** can you almost lose to Denver with all their injuries and you knock out their QB early? Then at the end, they could have scored but ran out the clock instead.

At least the Eagles had the decency to just plain ****. If I had known McVay was 4-0 in East coast games, I would have picked the Green Bay game.

Last Week 2-3
Year to Date 4-6

Two weeks in and I'm not doing so hot, though it could always be worse. Going to pick 4 games now and save 1 for later, in the hopes that the spread on MNF comes down to 3 points.

New England -6 I hate to pick this but you have a western team traveling across the country for an early (10 am body clock) kickoff on a short week. The fact Vegas is so banged up doesn't help.
San Francisco -3.5 Second game in a row in New Jersey for the 49ers, and they stuck around all week so they should be used to the time difference by now. Regardless, the Giants are garbage and I have no faith in the coaching staff so I'll gladly give the points.
Denver +5.5 Even though Jeff Driskell is starting, Denver at home in September is tough, evidence here https://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/denver-broncos-nfl-best-bet-september. Tampa Bay has looked out of sync on offense and Brady doesn't play well in Denver, plus the spread has moved 4 points in my favor. One other tidbit...according to scores and odds, 89% of bets are on Tampa Bay minus the points.
New Orleans -3 Green Bay looks awesome through 2 weeks and Brees looks old and they have no Michael Thomas again. I guess that's why the spread went from Saints -6.5 to -3. I think there will be a lot of "correction" this week in a lot of games, and I expect Sean Payton to have his team ready to bounce back after being embarrassed in Vegas Monday night.
