I didn't pay attention Smirt. Only thing I did was bring a crappy new playbook full of stuff I never run.

Honestly doubt anybody noticed the QB signing...I would never have known if I played you because I never check my opposing teams roster or check injuries.

I do have an interesting choice this week...my starting QB got hurt at the end of game 2 (team went 0-2) and my backup played 2 games (team went 2-0) and now QB1 is fully healthy.

Do I put back in my starter? Or do I ride the hot hand?

That's something MFN can never capture!! The public pressure from fans and media when you make a decision and it backfires.

Smirt wad complaining about his QB getting hurt on one of the last plays of the game but in the real world, his QB dropped back to pass with 1 minute on the clock with the team up 60-3.

The QB got sacked and hurt (not serious) and in real life, he would of been put under the media spotlight with quotes like "Why is he passing with the game in hand", "Why is he still in the game up 60-3" and etc etc.

I remember 1 season, Armoredgiraffe traded his starting QB who had won multiple division Titles in a row and signed a QB in free agency that never had any success in the league to a mega contract. I mentioned it at the time but it's nothing compared to.a real life off-season of the media and fans questioning your sanity

100% injury rate league, right?

A long long long time ago I fixed my game plan because the engine will take the high collision of running and take out your RB; especially at the 2nd to last play of the game.

...and especially if you're winning by a lot. Engine design avoidance game plan.

I've seen enough that guaranteed it wings and dings at the end of the game to create parity or if a RB/WR dominated during the game it'll double back and get them at the end. Got to be aggressive and aerial to reduce as much risk as possible.

But, yeah, can't be perfect. I may have a WR Deep in there for a regular game that'll draw a sack and get a penalty but running at the end will get your RB injured. Guaranteed with 100% injury rate.

That's why a couple a rule to run when up big in the 4th quarter to keep the clock moving with pulling my starters when I'm up big in the 4th quarter with under 2 minutes on the clock.

Less plays to survive injury roll and zero starters in jeopardy with under 2 minutes remaining.

I'm rarely up big but you are Smirt and should be closing that hole for late game injuries.

Week 4 is complete and the Southwest division knocked off two of our undefeated teams. Oklahoma beat Washington and Houston beat Honolulu, leaving New Orleans, San Jose, San Antonio, and Boston as the remaining 4-0 teams.

I usually like to look at stats and such at the quarter mark but the calendar didn't agree. I'm not getting much of anything done on Sundays until February and 530 comes early Monday afternoon when I have to work.

You haven't noticed but my glitch is still happening but I now know how to get through it without making multiple posts for each week. It has something to do with flipping back and forth between multiple tabs on the same league. I get a pop up that says a page is slowing down my internet and I hit the stop button. From there it acts like it doesn't want to type but after a couple of seconds, it works normally until I'm finished. Then, when I click submit, nothing happens, so I copy and paste everything in a new tab and it gets posted.

Normally I start with the undefeated teams in order of finish last season but this week I want to lead off with Boston. The Breakers are 4-0 for the first time in history and they have an early 2 game division lead after they completed a sweep of the New York Stars with a 17-6 win. New York tried passing against the stout Boston pass defense again and it didn't work any better the second time around. Jamie Orman threw 2 INTs and the Stars also lost 2 fumbles, yet they still had a 6-3 lead in the 4th qtr. Boston ran for 160 yards today and Jason Miller had 2 TD runs in the final 5 minutes of the game as the Breakers come from behind for the win.

Boston may be benefitting from their schedule but you can only play who the engine tells you to play. I do have my doubts about them sustaining success, but that doesn't mean they can't win the division. The Breakers run the ball well enough and currently have the best turnover margin in the league. They don't pass very well though, but neither do their opponents. Their run defense is awful but their schedule is "light", just 2 teams with a winning record left to play. With many winnable games and the rest of the East not playing well, this could be Boston's 3rd post season trip. Good luck.

Next game I want to talk about is Jacksonville's 72-3 win over Los Angeles. Dude hasn't logged on since 8/27 and he's using a kicker to punt and there have been punt blocks every game. My first instinct is to boot him now as it's been long enough but that's not fair to their future opponents. If MFN kicks him, that's another thing but the way I see it is why not let everyone have a chance to block punts? Especially now 4 games in, that wouldn't be fair to the next several Express opponents so I'm letting this play out naturally. He'll stay until either MFN kicks him, or I boot him at end of season.

On to the game where the Bulls put up 72 without benefit of a 100 yard rusher, 100 yard receiver or a 150 yard QB. William Barron only threw for 141 yards but had 4 TD passes, 3 to James Aguirre. Aguirre led the Bulls in rushing (14-92) and receiving (7-62-3). As a team, the running committee had 296 yards and 3 TDs, 2 by Jeremy Alleman. Victor Corey had 5 of the 7 sacks by the Jacksonville defense. Oh, almost forgot, James Aguirre pulled an Al Bundy, returning a kickoff 104 yards for a TD in addition to his 3 receiving TDs.

Houston knocked off previously undefeated Honolulu 14-6 thanks to the rushing duo of Nick Mitchell (5-93-1) and Rob Van Dam (16-88). Chris Miller had a TD pass but also 2 INTs but the Houston defense was stout today. The Gamblers kept the Hawaiians out of the end zone and intercepted Victor Russell late in the 4th to preserve the victory.

Oklahoma knocked off previously undefeated Washington 24-12. Early in the game both teams moved the ball but Stephen Morrow threw 3 TD passes while Washington settled for 2 FGs as the Outlaws got out to a 21-6 lead. Michael Hagler caught 2 TD passes with Domenic Winstead catching the other and he had 111 receiving yards. Michael Erickson found Fred Messer late for a 69 yard TD and Messer finished with 10 catches for 179 yards but it was too late to help win today.

New Orleans improves to 4-0 with a 54-7 win over Portland. James Wright threw for 483 yards and 3 TDs with Nicholas Reyes (7-155) and Bradley Schilling (3-110) the yardage leaders. Charles Grogan caught 2 scores. Gerald Waldon led the running committee (196 yards and 4 TDs combined) with 93 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively the VooDoo had 11 sacks and 2 INTs, holding the Storm to 60 total yards.

San Jose battled to a 33-22 win over Michigan. There was a lot of passing in this game and neither QB was good as Willie Reddish and Myron Dustin both had 1 TD and 4 INTs. Dustin did throw for 388 yards with Scott Isaacs (3-159-1) and Lynn McLaurin (10-150) topping 150 yards. Brendan Tullis had 162 receiving yards and a TD for Michigan. Charles Tillman had 3 rushing TDs for San Jose. Michigan took an early 13-0 lead in the first qtr but by the end of the 3rd it was a 16-16 tie. San Jose scored 17 unanswered 4th qtr points to seize control of the game and remain unbeaten.

San Antonio went back to flexing their muscles in a 49-3 win over Baltimore. The Gunslingers used 3 ball carriers today who combined for 258 yards and 3 TDs. Glenn Graham led the way with 112 yards and 2 scores. George Warner was 25/34, 315 yards and 4 TDs with Jessie Anderson catching 6 for 129 and 2 scores. Defensively they allowed just 69 total yards and had 4 sacks.

Denver beat Oakland 17-9 to take sole possession of first in the West. Kevin Hillman led the way with 146 rushing yards and 2 TDs, adding 40 more on 5 catches to also lead the team in receiving. Oakland's 3 best offensive drives ended without points as they missed a FG, threw an INT and the clock ran out at the end of the game. The Invaders had made it all the way down to the Gold 4 when the clock struck zero.

Chicago ran all over Cleveland in a 37-6 win. Marco Anderson ran for 184 yards and 2 TDs while Erin Fuentes had 105 yards and a TD on just 8 carries. The Blitz defense had 3 sacks and forced 3 turnovers as they improve to 3-1 with sole possession of first in the Midwest.

Tampa Bay improves to 3-1 with a come from behind 17-16 win over Birmingham. Mohamed Manno had 2 TD runs but Jeffrey Long missed an XP as the Stallions led 16-3 after 3. Jason Glowacki had a 33 yard TD run early in the 4th as the Bandits got within 16-10, then in the final minute they got a hot read 74 yard TD pass from David Fields to Adam Leonard, and the XP provided the winning margin.

Pittsburgh beat Charlotte 38-3. The Maulers ran for 180 yards and 2 TDs, led by Aaron Paul's 109 and 1. Thomas Hampton threw for 258 yards and 3 TDs, with USFL All Time Leading Rusher Vic Mackey catching 4 for 134 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, the Maulers had 6 sacks, 5 by Andrew Harris.

Orlando beat Shreveport 16-0. Guiseppe Jones ran for 91 yards, Cedrick Santana recovered his own fumble in the end zone and Glenn Jackson made 3 FGs to lead the way for the Renegades. They held Shreveport to 124 yards and turned them over 3 times.

I need to do something somewhere else online and I don't want to lose my progress. Will finish shortly

OK, all good, let's resume.

Memphis beat Arizona 15-6 in a game where both teams had kicker problems. Four weeks in and the Arizona placekicker remains inactive while position players go out there and botch FG attempts. Memphis kicker Antonio Washington missed his lone XP try and made just 3/5 FG attempts but it was still enough to beat the Wranglers. George Hoffman ran for 133 yards to lead the Memphis offense.

Georgia beat Florida 11-10. Neither offense played well but Georgia got a 104 yard kickoff return TD by Ralph Wicker with Adam Patrick completing the 2 point pass after Florida had taken an early 3-0 lead. Georgia added a 3rd qtr FG for an 11-3 lead and Florida cut it to 11-10 with a John Sanchez TD run late in the 3rd. The 4th qtr was scoreless and the Force hold on for their first win of the year.

Southern California beat Detroit 20-13. Michael Broughton threw for 295 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, and 2 sacks taken. Jeremiah Knapp caught the 2 scores while Gary Danforth caught 8 for 117 yards. Detroit's ball carriers combined for 136 yards and a TD but the passing game provided little help as the Sun even their record at 2-2 while Detroit is still searching for win #1.

New Jersey beat Philadelphia 15-10. Howie "Stump" Schwab made 5 FGs for the second straight week as the Generals are allergic to the end zone. Philadelphia outgained New Jersey 286-198 but the Generals didn't turn the ball over while Joel Jasso threw 2 INTs and James Newkirk lost 2 fumbles for Philadelphia.

Week 5 writeups will be delayed because I don't have time to finish it before work, unless I get a text from the daytime driver that she wants to stay a couple extra hours. If not, I'll do it in the morning.

A lot of stuff happened in Week 5, Houston scored 94, Honolulu 77, San Antonio 55, and two more were in the 40's. Boston is 5-0 for the first time in history, Houston players were setting records and I don't want to rush through it.

Week 5 recaps now...these aren't spoilers, unless you're the LA owner that hasn't logged in for over 2 weeks.

Houston crushed Baltimore 94-0 in a record setting performance. Dale Baber tied the all time record with 11 TD passes and Randy Savage set the record with 9 TD receptions, breaking David Austin's previous record of 8 set in 1986 with Memphis. Savage also set the record with 734 total yards in the game as he caught 12 passes for 556 yards and 9 TDs and had 12 punt returns for 178 yards and a TD, giving Macho Man 10 TDs today, or 2.5 Al Bundy's (4 TDs in a single game). Baber threw for 752 yards on 30/31 passing, with the yardage total the 6th most all time. Rob Van Dam ran for 144 yards and a TD while Snake Roberts caught the other 2 TD passes from Baber. Houston's defense had a good day as well, holding Baltimore to 77 yards and sacking Hector Bednar 9 times, 4 by Allan Sweeney.

Honolulu blocked some punts and their average drive start was the Los Angeles 32 yard line as they crush the Express 77-3. The box score shows Los Angeles lost fumbles on their first 3 drives (in the drive chart) but down further on the box score, it shows just 1 fumble. It's not matching up but I'm not going to try and figure it out, Victor Russell completed 27/32, 178 yards and 3 TDs, Ben Johnson ran for 3 TDs and David Gonzalez blocked at least 3 punts, scoring 2 TDs and a safety in the process. With all that great field position, the Hawaiians didn't put up many yards, 325 in total, so no yardage stat lines to mention. Defensively, Honolulu allowed just 47 yards and had 11 sacks, 6 by Dana Nelson.

San Antonio beat Memphis 55-14 behind a big game from George Warner. Warner finished 23/36, 615 yards and 7 TD passes and would normally be player of the week if not for Dale Baber. Warner's big day produced a trio of 100 yard receivers: Eric Rodriguez (5-181-2), Jessie Anderson (8-174-1), and Michael Barry (3-120-2). Barry also led the Gunslingers ball carrying committee with 77 yards (175 yards as a team). The Gunslingers defense sacked Gary Westerfield 5 times and intercepted him 3 times.

New Orleans beat Arizona 48-0 in a game where the VooDoo defense didn't even allow the Wranglers non place kickers to try a FG. Arizona was 0/16 on 3rd down, lost a fumble, took 6 sacks and amassed 75 total yards. James Wright completed 28/43, 453 yards and 5 TDs. Nicholas Reyes caught 7 for 138 yards and a TD while Jacob Becker caught 6 for 100 yards.

Michigan beat Chicago 41-9 in the first meeting between these teams fighting for the Midwest title. Willie Reddish threw for 252 yards and 2 TDs while the running committee had 188 yards and 3 TDs. Brendan Tullis led the way with 92 yards and 2 TDs. William Barrett caught 8 passes for 95 yards and a TD to lead the receivers. Defensively there wasn't much to talk about as they had 1 INT and no sacks but forcing punts is just as effective.

San Jose beat Tampa Bay 36-16. Scott Isaacs ran for a pair of 1st qtr TDs, Myron Dustin threw for 515 yards and 2 TDs, and Richard Dickinson had a Pick Six. Lynn McLaurin caught both TD passes among his 19 for 285 yards while Aaron Bush chipped in with 11 for 149 yards. The SaberCats did lose the turnover battle 4-2, but that just hurts style points.

Boston improves to 5-0 with a 16-13 win over Cleveland. Nicholas Walker got the scoring underway with a 42 yard TD run for Boston before Carl Langlois gave Cleveland the lead with a pair of TD passes. One of the XPs was no good so the Thunderbolts led 13-7. The Breakers defense (7 sacks, 1 fumble recovery) kept Cleveland off the scoreboard the rest of the game while the offense chipped away with FGs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtrs to win. Boston had Cleveland pinned deep in their own territory at the 2 minute warning, forced a punt, and started the game winning drive at the Cleveland 43. Five plays later Felipe Norfleet's 36 yard FG at the gun gave Boston the win.

These were the games I wanted to discuss first from Week 5. The rest of the games will go in order listed.

New Jersey beat Detroit 18-9. The Generals ran for 174 yards, Curtis Kim had a TD pass and Howie Schwab made 3 FGs to lead New Jersey to the win. William Oquendo was sacked 6 times, 3 by Sheldon Cooper and 3 by Nathan Explosion, with Cooper scoring a safety on one sack.

Washington beat Charlotte 24-0, forcing the Hornets to punt after every drive. The Federals defense had 2 sacks and no turnovers but still dominated while the running game had Michael Erickson's back. Erickson was 13/22, 183 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT but the Federals ran for 201 yards and a TD. William Flock had the TD and led the committee with 115 yards on 31 carries.

Birmingham beat Georgia 38-6 with a balanced attack. The Stallions ran for 177 yards and a TD (Mohamed Manno 9-60-1 led the way) with 176 passing yards. Russell Gall threw for 184 with an 8 yard sack but he also threw 4 TD passes. Lex Luger caught 2 of the scores and Manno had 1 with a combined 130 yards (60 rushing, 70 receiving). The Stallions defense sacked Georgia QBs 9 times, 3 by Nelson Castro.

Southern California beat Florida 24-3 behind 3 Michael Broughton TD passes. Broughton completed 25/41, 267 yards with Michael Deeter catching 6 for 119 yards and 2 TDs. Nicholas Meis had a good day for Florida, when he was able to stay on his feet. Meis completed 34/41, 249 yards but he was sacked 11 times. David Smith had 4 sacks, Kurt Salgado 3, and James Harris 2. Ten different Blazers caught a pass, led by Ronald Proctor's 11 for 112 yards.

Denver beat Portland 28-14. Barton McDonnell had very few passes hit the ground as he completed 33/39, 286 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. Six different Gold players caught a pass, in fact all 6 players caught either 5 or 6 passes, no more, no less. Patrick Molina led Denver in rushing (11-61-1) and receiving (6-70-1) while Kevin Hillman added 59 rushing yards and 2 TDs. The Gold sacked Curtis Torres 8 times, half by Jerry Franklin.

Oklahoma beat Oakland 17-3. Gary Kahn ran for 71 yards and a TD while Stephen Morrow threw for 217 yards and a TD to Domenic Winstead, who caught 9 for 105 yards. The Oklahoma defense was stingy today, and when they did allow a decent drive to the Invaders, they either missed a FG or turned it over on downs.

Pittsburgh beat Orlando 21-10 in a battle of playoff contenders. Neither offense was smooth as each QB threw 2 INTs and each kicker missed a FG. The Maulers had 6 sacks, 4 by Michael Peters. Orlando scored first on a Michael Smith pass to Joseph Calkins then Andrew Paul tied it with a 63 yard TD run. The score remained 7-7 until the 3rd, when Thomas Hampton threw an 8 yard TD pass to Arthur Ortega and a 91 yard TD pass to Marc Morgan for a 21-7 lead. Orlando added a FG early in the 4th but could get no closer.

Jacksonville beat New York 13-7. It's hard to believe that the New York Stars were 1 win away from a World Bowl trip last season given their 2012 results and despite an unspectacular performance, Jacksonville extended the Stars' misery. William Barron found James Aguirre for a short TD pass for a 7-0 lead midway through the 2nd, and Aguirre led the Bulls in rushing (11-66) and receiving (4-38-1). The Bulls added a pair of FGs as the defense forced the Stars to punt on every drive up to this point except one drive that ended in an INT. Jamie Orman finally got New York on the scoreboard with an 11 yard TD pass to Israel Yang with 4:18 to play but that's as close as they could get.

Shreveport beat Philadelphia 20-13. The Steamer aren't known for offense but today they put up 358 yards on the Bell. Frederick Martin ran for 112 yards against his former team while Scott Nolte completed 20/26, 208 yards and a TD. Robert Lavender caught 5 for 93 yards and a TD to lead the receivers. Philadelphia had 190 total yards for the game with 80 coming on their final drive when the offense finally scored. Joel Jasso finished threw a 23 yard TD pass with 3:30 to play but never saw the ball again as Shreveport ran out the clock. Philadelphia's previous score was a 102 yard kickoff return by Jason Wharton.
