SPOILER ALERT!!! I'm about to write about Week 11 that just happened an hour ago so if you don't want your game result spoiled, stop reading. I normally try and wait until the next afternoon to give everyone a chance to digest their own game but for today, it works best for me to do this now.

There were just two one score games this week so I may not write all that much about any game. Nine games were decided by 20 points or more.

We have some playoff spots clinched with a possibility of 3 divisions being clinched next week. New Orleans and Oklahoma have clinched at least a playoff berth and the champs join San Jose and Pittsburgh that could possibly clinch their divisions Week 12.

We also had four teams eliminated from the postseason: Detroit, Florida, Charlotte, and AI Washington.

Kenneth Anderson threw for 301 yards and 2 TDs to lead New Orleans to a 27-0 win over Baltimore. Five ball carriers combined for 129 yards and a TD while Michael Ferrell caught 13 for 133 yards and a TD. The VooDoo did lose the turnover battle 2-0 as Anderson threw a couple of picks but the New Orleans defense was awesome today, allowing 64 total yards, getting 5 sacks and keeping the Stars from converting any of their 11 3rd downs. New Orleans is 11-0 now but they have some tough games remaining, including Oklahoma, San Antonio, and Birmingham.

Philadelphia had a 30-28 comeback victory over Tampa Bay to improve to 10-1. Joel Jasso didn't have a very good game, completing less than half of his passes, going 24/50, 198 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT, and 4 sacks. One of those INTs was returned 45 yards for a TD by Morris Vargas, giving Tampa Bay a 14-10 lead. Later in the 2nd qtr, Curtis Torres threw the 2nd of his 3 TD passes to give the Bandits a 21-10 lead. Philadelphia would get a FG at the end of the half to start a 20-0 run. Frederick Martin would end that run with a 69 yard TD run early in the 4th and the XP gave the Bell a 30-21 lead. Martin ended the day rushing for 154 yards and 2 TDs. Curtis Torres led a late 96 yard TD drive to get the Bandits within 2 but the onside kick failed and Philadelphia ran out the clock.

Oklahoma bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 32-3 win over Shreveport. Raymond Settles threw for 329 yards and 3 TDs, Domenic Winstead caught 10 for 172 yards and a TD, and Raymond Russo ran for 166 yards.

What's happening in Jacksonville? The Bulls started out 9-0 before losing to New Orleans last week but no big deal because so far everyone has lost to them. Bulls fans and players had to figure a bounce back was in order against Boston, but perhaps a better question is what's happening in Boston? The Breakers were dreadful offensively through 7 games, scoring a total of 41 points during a 1-6 start. Since then, they've gone 3-1, scoring 28, 7, 34, and 36 today against Jacksonville in a 36-7 win.

Jacksonville helped the cause with 4 turnovers, 2 INTs and 2 lost fumbles, but the defense allowed 499 yards to the Breakers offense. The Boston BCBC ran for 143 yards and a TD while Leroy Payne completed 14/23, 366 yards and 2 TDs. Timothy Painter caught 4 for 182 yards and a TD. In addition to forcing 4 turnovers, the Boston defense had 4 sacks and held the Bulls to 1/14 on 3rd down.

San Jose beat Los Angeles 50-6 for their second straight lopsided win. This looks like a typical San Jose box score in that Larry Henderson completed 49/84, 552 yards, 6 TDs, 2 INTs, and 4 sacks. Lee Ramos and Brian Smith both had huge receiving games, catching 3 TDs each. Ramos finished with 11 catches and 179 yards while Smith had 13 and 139. The SaberCats even ran for 116 yards and a TD, including a 28 yard run by Henderson and of course there were 4th down tries (3/7). Coincidentally, the defense had their second straight dominating performance, holding the Express to 54 total yards with 8 sacks, 2 INTs and holding L.A. to 1/13 on 3rd down.

So far, I've been going in order of W-L record and after today, Cleveland and San Antonio are both 9-2. The Gunslingers rode their defense and Glenn Graham today as they shut out the Midwest leading Thunderbolts 27-0. Graham had a combined 220 yards and 2 TDs, 159 and both scores coming on the ground. Defensively they held Cleveland to 122 total yards and 2/14 on 3rd down.

Portland maintains their West division lead with a 45-31 win over Arizona. The Storm broke open a close 14-10 lead with 21 unanswered 2nd qtr points and survived some big plays by Arizona with some big defensive plays. After falling behind 35-10, the Wranglers had to throw and Keith Carter had highs and lows. Carter completed just 16/43 but those 16 completions covered 348 yards with 3 TDs. Aside from the lows of all the incomplete passes were 2 INTs and 4 sacks, two of which went for safeties. George Schacht threw for 392 yards, 4 TDs and an INT with both Patrick Howard and Lonnie Johnson getting 109 yards receiving. Thomas Frank chipped in 99 rushing yards and a TD as the Storm improve to 7-4.

Pittsburgh won their 3rd straight with a 28-7 win over AI Washington. The Federals got on the board first with a Pick Six by David Pino but the Washington offense only had 112 yards on the day, punting 14 times. Brian White would throw another INT later but he also threw for 249 yards and 2 TDs with support from the running game as Christopher Goins had 136 yards and a TD while Kenneth Allen had 81 and a TD.

Michigan beat Chicago 24-3 to improve to 8-3 as the Panthers look forward to their Week 12 game against Cleveland. Willie Reddish threw for 3 TDs, 2 to Alvin Eckenrode while Panthers ball carriers combined for 165 yards. Brendan Tullis was the leading rusher and receiver for Michigan, running for 69 and catching 5 for 94 and a TD.

Memphis currently holds the #7 seed and today they crushed Houston 37-3. Memphis runners combined for 171 yards and 2 TDs, Glenn Burns threw for 293 yards and 2 TDs, and the defense intercepted Dale Baber 3 times. This loss certainly damages Houston's playoff chances as they are 2 games behind with games against New Orleans and Oklahoma still on the schedule. If they do in fact stay home in January, it would break a string of 27 post seasons in a row for Houston with 9 championships. Gotta respect a run like that in this league with the level of competition we've had.

Orlando won their 6th game in a row, shutting out Birmingham today 13-0. Dwayne Byrd did not have a good game, completing just 13/36, 132 yards but he wasn't sacked and he did not turn the ball over. The Renegades shut down the Stallions running game while Thomas Gilbert ran for 91 of the 111 yards Orlando had. Both teams are 7-4 and look to be headed for the playoffs as wildcard teams.

New York is poised to join Orlando and Birmingham as wildcards as they all have a 2 game lead on New Jersey and Tampa Bay. The Bandits have their next 3 games against current playoff teams in Oakland, Portland, and New York while the Generals have their next 4 against current playoff teams, Philadelphia, Orlando, Philadelphia again and Jacksonville. I can't speak for Tampa but I feel like it's a matter of time before New Jersey sees the dreaded tine e next to their place in the standings.

The (NY) Stars did play a game, beating Southern California 30-10 behind 3 Jamie Orman TD passes. Sleepy Sandmann ran for 77 yards and James Luna 61 as the Stars jumped out to a 17-0 lead and maintaining at least a 10 point lead the rest of the way.

Oakland beat Honolulu 27-14 in a battle of 5-5 teams. The win makes the Invaders 6-5, tied with Memphis for the #7 seed. Domingo Robinson threw for 260 yards and 3 TDs to lead the Oakland offense. Defensively they intercepted 2 passes and had a sack, although the special teams gave up a 109 yard kickoff return.

Denver won again thanks to turnovers, winning 22-19 over Detroit for their 2nd straight win. Denver intercepted Mark Lott 5 times and had 4 sacks yet the Gold found themselves trailing 19-15 inside the 2 minute warning. Todd Mack had just kicked a 37 yard FG for the Wheels when his kickoff was returned 107 yards for the go ahead TD by Kevin Hillman. The Denver defense kept Detroit on their own side of the 50 on the final drive until the clock hit zero.

Georgia beat Charlotte 27-3 behind their defense, which forced 5 turnovers (4 INTs) and had 8 sacks. Georgia runners only had 70 yards but they had 2 TDs to go with an Adam Patrick TD pass as the Force break a 5 game losing streak.

New Jersey beat Florida 16-3, keeping their playoff hopes alive for now. Not much to talk about other than New Jersey scored the game's lone TD on a short field following a lost Florida fumble. Other than that fumble, the Blazers had success running the ball as John Sanchez and Russell Williams combined for 145 yards. Neither passing did much, combining for 179 yards but Kevin Via did throw a TD pass. Howie "Stump" Schwab made 3 FGs from 50+ yards for New Jersey while Florida kicker Clyde Averill made just 1/3 from all distances.

Week 12 is in the books and the playoff push is here. Let's see what happened.

Defending Champions New Orleans played 9 time champion Houston today, winning 38-6. While this loss doesn't eliminate Houston, it puts them on life support and it's going to be odd if they don't make the playoffs. New Orleans on the other hand just keep rolling along. Gerald Waldon led the VooDoo BCBC with 101 rushing yards while Michael Ferrell had 135 combined yards and 2 TDs, one rushing, one receiving. Kenneth Anderson threw for 257 yards and 3 TDs while the defense held the Gamblers to 170 total yards.

Michigan and Cleveland played for the Midwest division. If Cleveland would have won, they'd have a 2 game lead and a sweep but it was the Panthers winning 29-12, forcing a tie in the standings. Michigan turned the ball over 4 times on 2 Willie Reddish INTs and 2 lost fumbles but Reddish also threw 3 TD passes as they score 22 unanswered points for the win. The Panthers ran for 224 yards and a TD while the defense forced 3 turnovers and held Cleveland under 100 offensive yards.

San Jose outgained Southern California 619-162 yet they needed a FG at the gun to escape with a 29-27 win. San Jose led 26-6 after 3 quarters but the Sun came back in the 4th with 21 unanswered points to take a 27-26 lead. Two of the TDs were John Barrios passes and the other TD was a Pick Six, San Jose got the ball with 1:38 left down by 1 and Larry Henderson led a drive into FG range where Samuel Oakes' 54 yard FG at the gun gives the SaberCats the win.

Larry Henderson completed 46/71, 552 yards, 4 TDs, 4 INTs, and 6 sacks. Alfredo Montoya caught 13 for 194 and a TD and Lynn McLaurin caught 14 for 174 and 2 TDs. In addition to the 4 INTs, San Jose lost 3 fumbles while their defense forced no turnovers.

Oklahoma beat Birmingham 14-10 thanks to a Raymond Settles 15 yard TD pass to Steven Huddleston with 6:49 to play. Birmingham then drove deep into Oklahoma territory where they faced a 4th and 4 from the Outlaws 6 with the clock approaching the final minute. The 4th down pass was knocked down and three Raymond Settles kneeldowns later, Oklahoma had the narrow win.

Pittsburgh punched their post season ticket with a 44-0 win over Detroit. The Maulers BCBC had 303 yards and 3 TDs, led by Kenneth Allen's 136 rushing yards and Arthur Ortega's 97 yards and 2 TDs. Brian White completed 17/19 for 188 yards and 2 TDs while the Maulers defense forced 3 turnovers and allowed 109 yards on just under 15:00 time of possession.

Jacksonville got back on track with a 34-0 win over the New York Stars. The Bulls ran for 224 yards and a TD, led by George Smith and his 93 yards. Smith also caught 10 passes for 65 yards to lead the Bulls in yardage. William Barron threw 3 TD passes and the defense allowed just 149 total yards.

Orlando continued winning as they are the league's hottest team not named New Orleans. Dwayne Byrd finally threw another INT but he also threw 4 TD passes in the 35-7 win over Arizona. Thomas Gilbert ran for 117 yards while the defense forced 3 turnovers with 5 sacks, allowing 126 total yards.

San Antonio beat Shreveport 20-0 today to improve to 10-2. Glenn Graham ran for 119 yards and added 40 yards receiving with a TD while Jack Lu caught 8 for 135 yards. The Gunslingers defense allowed 124 total yards and under 40% completions.

Portland beat Chicago 21-6, scoring 21 the hard way. George Schacht had an 88 yard TD pass to Patrick Howard in the 2nd qtr, Aaron David kicked 4 FGs and one of Portland's 6 sacks happened in the end zone for a safety. Thomas Frank ran for 100 yards to help Portland improve to 8-4.

New Jersey upset Philadelphia 30-16 thanks to Joel Jasso thowing 3 INTs. Nathan Explosion had 4 of New Jersey's 5 sacks of Jasso while Vic Mackey ran for 142 yards and a TD. Kevin Via even threw 2 TD passes as the Generals keep their playoff hopes alive.

Oakland kept themselves in the wildcard spot with a 24-10 win over Tampa Bay. Joseph Nelson ran for 100 yards and 2 TDs while the defense had 6 sacks and forced 2 turnovers.

Honolulu held on for a 21-20 win over Los Angeles. The Hawaiians got out to a 21-7 lead thanks to a Victor Russell TD pass and 2 TD runs by James Shick. Shick finished with 112 combined yards, 72 on the ground and 40 receiving. The Hawaiians ran for 179 yards while holding the Express to 37 yards on 31 carries. Los Angeles kicked a FG just inside the 2 minute warning to get within 21-20 but they never saw the ball again as Honolulu ran out the clock.

Baltimore fell behind 7-0 following a Hector Bednar INT gave Florida a short field but the defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way as the Stars win 28-7. Bednar would bounce back to finish 33/50, 317 yards 1 TD and 1 INT, taking 2 sacks. Franklin Benevides ran for 60 yards and 2 TDs while the defense allowed just 138 total.

Georgia survived losing the turnover battle 5-1 to win a FG kicking contest, getting a 6-3 win over Boston. The Breakers came into the game having scored 70 in their previous 2, but were held to just 119 total yards today, with next to nothing coming through the air. Georgia QB Adam Patrick was sacked 4 times and threw 4 INTs. Samuel Dunlap ran for 167 yards on just 14 carries to help Georgia get their 2 FGs.

Denver still has faint playoff hopes but they're most likely just playing spoiler at this point. They spoiled Memphis 31-10 today behind 350 yards and 3 TDs by QB Bernard Smith. Christopher Cook was his favorite receiver, catching 7 for 161 yards and a TD. Memphis QB Glenn Burns threw for 328 yards and a TD but he threw 2 INTs and was sacked 8 times and had no help from the running game (12 rushes 17 yards).

I don't know about you but I think Denver is going to be a tough team to beat in 2010 under Big Poppa.

Charlotte broke a 9 game losing streak with a 23-13 win over AI Washington. Chris Miller overcame 3 INTs to throw for 309 yards and 2 TD passes with Timmy Roache catching both scores among his 6 for 171 yards. Defensively the Hornets allowed the Federals a 75 yard TD drive on their first possession before tightening up and holding them to punts or FG tries the rest of the way.

Week 13 is finished and the playoff races are heating up. I'll start the week with what could be a World Bowl preview as the 12-0 defending champion New Orleans VooDoo went to Oklahoma to play the 11-1 Outlaws.

The first half was ruled by both defenses as each offense threw an INT, turned it over on downs, and punted several times. New Orleans broke the scoreless tie with a Kenneth Anderson 1 yard TD pass with 1:15 to go before halftime. The XP was good for a 7-0 lead.

New Orleans started the second half with a FG, then Kenneth Anderson threw his 2nd TD pass on the next drive to give the VooDoo a 17-0 lead. A couple of drives later, Raymond Settles threw his 2nd INT, giving the VooDoo a short field. Three plays later and Kenneth Anderson's 3rd TD pass gave New Orleans a 24-0 lead. Oklahoma would answer with a TD of their own but it was too little, too late to overtake New Orleans.

This loss opened the door for San Antonio to tie Oklahoma atop the Southwest if they could beat Denver. The Gold came into the game on a 3 game winning streak but the Gunslingers were on a 6 game winning streak so something had to give. What gave was the Gold defense who had been playing well during the streak but gave up 474 yards today. George Warner threw for 337 yards and 2 TDs with Ronald Atkins catching 10 for 120 yards and a TD.San Antonio ran for 145 yards although Glenn Graham only had 76 of those with a TD.

Denver turned the ball over 4 times, with 3 coming in a pivotal stretch between late 2nd qtr and early 3rd where the score went from 10-7 San Antonio to 24-7. From there the Gunslingers pushed the lead to 34-10 early in the 4th and ended up winning by the same score. This loss eliminated Denver from the post season while San Antonio is now tied with Oklahoma for first in the Southwest.

San Jose would take over the #1 seed with a win over Honolulu. The SaberCats fumbled on their first possession, leading to a 57 yard TD run by James Shick to give Honolulu a quick 7-0 lead. Larry Henderson tied the game with a TD pass to Lynn McLaurin, then threw an INT t give Honolulu a short field. Victor Russell cashed it in with a TD pass to Brian Copley for a 14-7 lead.

Fast forward to the 4th qtr where the score was 14-10 Honolulu. We just had the 2 minute warning when San Jose turned it over on downs deep in their own territory. Honolulu got a FG out of it to push the lead to 17-10. San Jose got the ball back with 1:41 left needing a TD to tie and they got that TD thanks to Larry Henderson's 2nd TD pass. The XP sent the game to OT where San Jose won it with a FG on their 2nd possession of OT.

San Jose finished with 535 total yards to 151 for Honolulu but lost the turnover battle 3-0. Larry Henderson threw for 304 yards and 2 TDs while Lee Ramos ran for 110.

The Midwest contenders are going opposite directions and this was a division week. Michigan beat Detroit 22-3 behind 111 rushing yards from Charles Keller and 2 Willie Reddish TD passes. Reddish also threw 2 INTs but the Panthers defense was solid today, getting 5 sacks, one for a safety, intercepting 2 passes and allowing just 115 total yards on 16 minutes time of possession. This was Michigan's 4th win in a row and now have sole possession of first place because...

Cleveland lost 16-2 against Chicago, the 3rd loss in a row for the Thunderbolts. Chicago ran for 212 yards, led by Marco Anderson's 124 yards and Samuel Diaz booted 3 FGs to lead the Blitz. Eric Hansen threw a TD pass to Fred Lynch, who caught 8 for 120 yards, but Hansen also threw 2 INTs and was sacked in the end zone. That safety was all the points Cleveland could muster against the Blitz defense as they struggled to move the chains all day. Cleveland falls to 9-4 but they are on the verge of a playoff spot.

Tampa Bay beat Portland 23-6, denying the Storm's bid to increase their West division lead. Portland lost the turnover battle 5-1 as George Schacht threw 4 INTs. Tampa Bay got a Curtis Torres TD pass, 3 Gary Ridgeway FGs and a 50 yard TD run by Carl Gillard to seal the victory. The Bandits are now 6-7 and still holding out hope for a wildcard spot.

Oakland couldn't take advantage of that loss as the Invaders also suffered 5 turnovers in a 27-10 loss to Jacksonville. The Southeast leading Bulls got 3 TD passes and 270 yards from William Barron and rode the defense to victory. Jacksonville forced 3 fumbles, recovering them all to go with 6 sacks and 2 INTs. This win, coupled with an Orlando loss gives the Bulls the Southeast title.

Orlando started the year slow before rattling off 7 straight wins to vault themselves into the playoff picture. That streak came to an end today as suddenly hot New Jersey upset them 26-13. The Renegades ran for 212 yards and a TD, led by the 120 of Henry Ward and the Orlando defense stymied the Generals running game, which is their offensive strength. New Jersey actually has one of the better pass defenses in the league, and while Dwayne Byrd only threw 1 INT and was not sacked, he only completed 20/44 for 130 yards. Generals QB Kevin Via had one of his better games, throwing for 281 yards and a TD to Lloyd Williams, who caught 3 for 126 and that score. This win could play a role in wildcard tiebreakers.

Philadelphia bounced back from last weeks loss to shutout Florida 34-0. Joel Jasso completed 39/54, 435 yards and 4 TDs. Lamar Rathjen led the receivers with 9 catches, 140 yards and a TD. The defense allowed 90 total yards and the Bell clinch a playoff spot.

Pittsburgh beat Shreveport 17-0 as the Maulers gear up to host a playoff game. Pittsburgh ran for 228 yards and 2 TDs. Arthur Ortega led in yardage with 98 while Jerry Rose got the 2 TD runs. Defensively they held Shreveport to 91 total yards with 2 turnovers.

Birmingham got a 19-7 win over AI Washington to maintain their current playoff spot. Russell Gall threw a TD pass, the ball carriers combined to rush for 165 yards and Jeffrey Long booted 4 FGs to lead the Stallions to the win. Washington had one 75 yard TD drive but otherwise struggled today.

New York got a 12-7 win over Boston to maintain their current playoff spot. The Stars got 98 rushing yards from Sleepy Sandmann and 93 from James Luna but they had to settle for 4 Kenneth Williams FGs. Boston drove deep into Stars territory inside 4 minutes to play but turned it over on downs rather than try to cut a 5 point deficit to 2. The Breakers got the ball right back after a punt but Leroy Payne threw an INT and they turned it over on downs on their last drive, giving New York the win.

Memphis got a 16-13 win over Georgia thanks to a John Everhart FG with 0:11 seconds left in the game. Glenn Burns threw for 339 yards and a TD but also threw 4 INTs to keep Georgia in the game. Memphis held a 13-6 lead late when Georgia had their best drive, a 12 play 88 yard TD drive to tie the game at 13 inside the 2 minute warning. Burns then led Memphis into FG range for Everhart's game winner. Georgia had a last gasp attempt to tie, getting a pass completion to set up a desperation 65 yard attempt that was predictably no good.

Houston kept their faint playoff hopes alive with a 17-9 win over Arizona. Snake Roberts ran for 162 yards and 2 TDs while the defense had 5 sacks, 3 INTs and 2 fumble recoveries. Arizona did run for 205 yards as a team, led by 103 from Mitchell Barnes.

Los Angeles ended a 6 game losing streak with a 24-3 win over Southern California. The Express got 99 rushing yards from David Bogner and 91 from Manuel Martinez to lead the offense. Myron Dustin had a TD pas and they had a defensive score on a strip sack near the goal line. Los Angeles had 5 sacks in all and held the Sun to 99 total yards.

Baltimore got out to an 18-0 lead on Charlotte before the Hornets stung the Stars with 14 points in the 4th. Hector Bednar had a TD pass earlier in the game (XP no good) but his late INT opened the door for a Hornets comeback but they lost a fumble, allowing Baltimore to run out the final 2:50 for the win. Gerald Parsons caught 5 for 109 yards while Franklin Benevides had a combined 116 yards (62 rushing, 54 receiving).

Week 14 is completed so let's review the action.

The most impactful game of the week was between Memphis and Oakland, as this was essentially for the right to be the current #7 seed. Memphis did not punt in the first half as their six drives ended with 3 FG tries (2 made), 2 TDs and an INT. Oakland could manage just a pair of FGs and trailed 19-6 at the break. Oakland would get a TD on their second possession of the 2nd half to get within 19-13 before Memphis scored the next 10 for a 29-13 lead early in the 4th. Oakland would get a TD to pull within 29-20 but the defense couldn't stop the Showboats from making it 35-20 with a TD and a failed 2 point try. Oakland got a TD and 2 point conversion at the 2 minute warning but the onside kick failed, and Memphis would add a FG to win 38-28.

Glenn Burns threw for 476 yards and 3 TDs and Jacob Newman led the receivers with 111 yards. Domingo Robinson threw for 255 yards and 2 TDs but got no help from the running game.

New Orleans clinched home field advantage with a 17-3 win over Birmingham. Kenneth Anderson threw 2 TD passes to James Peterson while the defense held the Stallions to 188 total yards.

Philadelphia clinched the East with a 27-17 win over New Jersey. Joel Jasso threw for 348 yards, 3 TDs and 2 INTs with Jason Wharton catching all 3 scores among his 8 for 240 yards. Defensively the Bell held New Jersey to 172 total yards and had 4 sacks.

Portland clinched the West with a 55-19 win over Arizona. George Schacht threw for 398 yards, 5 TDs and 2 INTs, with Patrick Howard catching 7 for 167 yards and a TD. Richard Petty caught 6 for 81 and 2 scores while Thomas Frank had a combined 106 yards and 2 TDs, 1 rushing and 1 receiving. Defensively the Storm created 5 turnovers (3 INT and 2 fumble recoveries), had 5 sacks and held the Wranglers to 1/13 on 3rd down. One of those sacks was a strip sack and a 5 yard return for a TD.

Michigan beat Baltimore 27-3 behind a strong running game and defense. Charles Keller led the Panthers BCBC with 87 yards and a TD and Michigan ran for 235 as a team. Willie Reddish threw for 2 TDs and the defense allowed just 95 yards with 3 sacks and 3 INTs.

Jacksonville overcame 3 first half turnovers to beat Orlando 27-18 to complete a season sweep of the Southeast. William Barron threw for 298 yards and 2 TD passes to William McLendon, who caught 7 for 120 for the game. Dwayne Byrd threw for 322 yards and a TD, but that came with 0:14 left. In fact nearly half of Orlando's yards came on their last 2 drives when they were trailing 27-9.

San Jose started their game against Cleveland with a bang, getting a 101 yard kickoff return by Dwayne Redden for an instant 6-0 lead after the 2 point try failed. The SaberCats had ups and downs afterwards, but mostly ups as they win 29-10. The San Jose defense forced 3 turnovers and held the Thunderbolts to 3 points until late in the game. Offensively Larry Henderson completed 42/74, 376 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. John Page was the leading receiver with 3 catches, 97 yards and 2 TDs while Lynn McLaurin had a combined 148 yards. The down part for San Jose was turning it over on downs 8 times, going 6/14 on 4th down. I don't even know how to figure out if this is a record without going through every box score ever, but that's gotta be a record.

Oklahoma beat Los Angeles 30-9 as they try to hold off San Antonio in the Southwest. Gary Kahn ran for 108 yards and a TD while Raymond Russo added 44 yards and a TD. Kahn also returned a free kick 98 yards for a TD following a safety on one of the Outlaws 5 sacks. Oklahoma also forced 2 turnovers and allowed 4 yards rushing on 24 carries as David Bogner ran 20 times for -11 yards.

San Antonio almost messed up and lost to Georgia but a last second FG gave the Gunslingers a 12-10 win to keep pace with Oklahoma. George Warner threw INTs on the first 2 drives of the game but Georgia could only make them pay with a FG. Georgia would have an 85 yard TD drive in the 2nd qtr and they took that 10-0 lead into the half. Georgia brought their defense today and they limited San Antonio to a FG following an INT by Georgia QB Adam Patrick. Georgia's offense couldn't sustain drives though, which allowed San Antonio to chip away with another FG to get within 12-6. That was our score still, as we fast forward to the middle of the 4th. From that point, San Antonio went on 2 FG drives, with the last one coming as the clock hit 0:00.

Pittsburgh beat AI Washington 21-9 as they took a 14-0 lead before the Federals 2nd offensive play. Pittsburgh took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards for a TD, then Washington lost a fumble on their first play. Pittsburgh turned that into a TD, then got a 95 yard Kenneth Allen TD run on their 3rd possession for a 21-0 lead. From there, the Maulers were in cruise control, winning easily. Kenneth Allen finished with 167 yards and 2 TDs on the ground, adding 32 more receiving to nearly get to 200.

New York beat Tampa Bay 22-3 with 16 4th qtr points to break open a close FG kicking contest. The Stars led just 9-3 early in the 4th before they finally got a Jamie Orman TD pass and a TD run from Sleepy Sandmann. Orman finished with 325 yards as Perry Nelson caught 7 for 107 yards and Tim Carroll had 7 for 98 and a TD.

Honolulu beat Chicago 13-9, scoring a FG and a TD on their first 2 drives before their offense went cold. Chicago had 3 drives over 50 yards, but 2 ended with FGs and the 3rd ended with a 4th qtr INT inside the Honolulu 5. The Hawaiians then ran out all but 11 seconds of the clock, adding a FG to take the 13-9 lead that would eventually be the final score.

Boston beat Southern California 28-25 in a see-saw game that had 7 lead changes. Boston took the lead 6-0 on a pair of FGs before Southern California scored on a safety and TD to take a 9-6 lead. The Sun would add a FG before Timmy Elliott found Timothy Painter for a 75 yard TD with the XP giving Boston a 13-12 lead. Marty Johnson got the lead back for the Sun with a Pick Six for a 19-13 halftime lead.

The Breakers got the only score of the 3rd qtr, a 15 yard TD run by Aaron Bush for a 20-19 lead. Southern California took the lead with the first of two 4th qtr FGs, with the 2nd one pushing the lead to 25-20. Interceptions were the theme of the day as the QBs combined to throw 7, and back to back INTs led to Boston taking over at their own 47 with under 4 minutes to play. Timmy Elliott led a TD drive and the 2 point run gave Boston a 28-25 lead with just over a minute left. The Sun turned it over on downs and the Breakers get the win.

Denver overcame an early 17-0 hole to beat Houston 27-20. Dale Baber threw for 373 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs, leading scoring drives on 3 of the first 4 possessions. Denver would chip away, trailing 20-10 after 3 qtrs before the Gold struck for 17 in the 4th. Bernard Smith threw for 337 yards and 2 TDs with Dan Spitler catching 7 for 105 and Christopher Cook catching 5 for 102 and a TD. Under Taker had 102 receiving yards for Houston.

Florida broke a 4 game losing streak with a 25-0 win over Shreveport. John Sanchez ran for 122 yards, Russell Williams ran for 74 and a TD, and the defense held the Steamer to 154 total yards.

Detroit and Charlotte had a FG kicking contest that couldn't be decided in regulation. The Hornets led 6-3 until Todd Mack tied the game at 6 with a short FG in the final minute of regulation. Detroit won the toss and took the ball first in OT, where they kicked another FG, then won the game when Charlotte failed to get a first down.

There weren't too many pivotal games featuring playoff contenders in Week 15 and only 5 games were within one score. One game that had both was Memphis at Oklahoma.

Raymond Settles threw 2 early TD passes to give the Outlaws a 17-3 lead in the 2nd qtr. Memphis got back in the game thanks to 2 Glenn Burns TD passes, fueling a 14-3 run to make the score 20-17 Oklahoma after 3. The Showboats sank in the 4th qtr though, going three and out three times and allowing a safety on their last drive as Oklahoma wins 22-17. Gary Kahn ran for 102 yards for Oklahoma and Raymond Settles threw for 317 yards. Nichael Hagler was the leading receiver, catching 3 for 109 yards and a TD with Domenic Winstead also going over 100 with 102 yards on 12 catches.

There were only 4 games featuring two playoff contenders and Memphis/Oklahoma was the closest. Next closest was New Jersey beating Jacksonville 38-23. There were 5 lead changes during the first 35 minutes of the game before the Generals pulled away late. As usual the Generals gave it up on the ground as the Bulls ran for over 8 yards a carry but the pass defense had 4 sacks, one for a safety, an INT and held William Barron to 21/54 passing. The Generals got 2 long TD passes from Kevin Via, a 70 yarder to Lloyd Williams and 91 yards to Apollo Creed. Creed also is the latest to have his name permanently etched in the record books with a 110 yard kickoff return TD.

The other two games were blowouts. San Jose beat New York 44-7 in a game where Larry Henderson threw as many passes as you and I did...zero. It's too late in the morning to look, but I'd bet the 90 rushing attempts is a league record as San Jose ran 90 times for 450 yards and 6 TDs, producing three 100 yard rushers. Alfredo Montoya ran for 137 and a TD, Lynn McLaurin had 115 and 3 TDs while David Babin had 115 and 2 TDs. New York had trouble maintaining offense after their initial 75 yard TD drive, only gaining 48 the rest of the day as they only had the ball 13:06.

George Warner threw an INT on the first play from scrimmage but he bounced back to throw for 454 yards and 5 TDs as San Antonio crushed Oakland 48-3. Jack Lu caught 5 passes for 227 yards and 2 TDs while Oakland had 165 yards as a team.

The rest of the games were either contender vs non contender or no contenders at all. Of the games with one contender, we had two one score games. Cleveland beat Los Angeles 9-6 in a defensive struggle. Cleveland's defense had 7 sacks and one sack went for a safety in the 1st qtr to give the Thunderbolts a 2-0 lead. Los Angeles would kick a pair of FGs for a 6-2 lead that they kept until the final 67 seconds. That's when Cleveland QB Carl Langlois scored the game's only TD on a 6 yard run. The XP gave Cleveland a 9-6 lead and the defense made it stand up.

Michigan got by Chicago 13-6 thanks to their defense that had 5 sacks and forced 3 turnovers. Willie Reddish threw a 6 yard TD pass to Greg Reed in the final minute of the first half for the game's only TD. That made the halftime score 10-6 Michigan and the second half was a punt fest until Michigan added a FG inside the 2 minute warning. Chicago then fumbled the ball away and Michigan ran out the clock.

Philadelphia beat Boston 16-3 as the Bell defense held the Breakers to 126 total yards. Frederick Martin ran for 99 yards and Jason Wharton caught a TD pass as Philadelphia overcame a poor, 18/54 performance from QB Joel Jasso.

New Orleans beat Georgia 40-10 behind 3 Kenneth Anderson TD passes and a defense that forced 4 turnovers and had 6 sacks. Gerald Waldon caught one of the TD passes and led the BCBC with 92 yards rushing.

Honolulu continues their playoff push with a 27-3 win over Southern California. The Sun was blocked out in Hawaii as the Hawaiians defense allowed just 107 yards and had 5 sacks. Victor Russell threw for 321 yards and 2 TDs and had a rushing TD to lead the offense.

Birmingham shut out Shreveport 33-0. Barry Stringfellow ran for 136 yards, Philip Snyder ran for 92 and Russell Gall threw for 312 yards and 2 TDs. Mohammed Manno caught both scores among his 5 for 134 yards.

Orlando beat AI Washington 32-3 behind 2 rushing TDs from Thomas Gilbert and 6 Roger Love FGs. Gilbert finished with 129 rushing yards and Henry Ward added 86. Defensively the Renegades made every Federals drive end with a kick, 10 punts and a FG.

Brian White completed 24/27 for 143 yards and 2 TDs to lead Pittsburgh to a 23-6 win over Charlotte. Felix Vaughn caught both TDs and Kenneth Allen ran for 76 and a TD to lead the Maulers offense.

Houston is wrapping up the worst season in franchise history since 1979, back in the Booger926 days. He ran the Gamblers their first six seasons, finishing 24-56 with a best of 7-9. Setherick took over, got them over the hump, and even winning their first World Bowl in 1982. That season started a streak of 25 straight double digit win seasons that ended with a 9-7 record in 2007. They would bounce back last year only to lose to New Orleans in the World Bowl.

Today, for one game at least, Houston looked like the Gamblers team we're used to seeing. Dale Baber threw for 364 yards and 4 TDs, getting big games from a pair of receivers as they upset West division champion Portland 33-12. Randy Savage caught 5 passes for 141 yards and 2 TDs while Lex Luger has 3 for 111 and 2 TDs. The Gamblers problems this season are mostly defensive as that unit ranks 29th in the league, but they came up with 10 sacks today.

Tampa Bay beat Portland 24-13 thanks to James Aguirre's 104 rushing yards and 2 TDs. Florida had one good drive through 3 qtrs as they fell into a 24-3 hole before getting their offense going in the 4th. The comeback bid fell short though as the Blazers turned it over on downs their last 2 drives.

Denver trailed Arizona 24-14 midway through the 3rd qtr and 24-17 going into the 4th before Bernard Smith found David Mills for a game tying 52 yard TD in the final minute. The game went to OT where Denver kicker Tyler Garcia missed a potential game winning FG following an Arizona punt, but would redeem himself on the next drive, making a 45 yard kick to give the Gold the win. Bernard Smith had 377 passing yards to 9 different receivers.

Baltimore beat Detroit 15-14 in a flip flop, Jeckyll and Hyde game. Baltimore's first 4 drives were missed FG, INT, INT, INT while Detroit got a Mark Lott TD pass and a Matthew Reese TD run for a 14-0 halftime lead. In the second half, Detroit threw an INT on 4 straight drives while Baltimore spent the second half kicking FGs. Tom Overton made 5 in all, with the 5th one, the game winner coming as the clock expired. After a combined 7-24-1 record his first two seasons, Lunkan has the Stars 6-9 this year. A win over AI Washington next game would mark a 3 win improvement on 2008.

Stats time.

Unless Smirt goes all pass Week 16, Glenn Burns of Memphis will lead the league in passing yards, and he probably still wins it if he does. Burns has a nearly 700 yard lead on Larry Henderson.

Raymond Settles currently leads with 32 TD passes but Henderson, Burns, and George Warner all have 30.

Baltimore's Hector Bednar has taken the most sacks so far with 65. John Barrios (So. Cal.) has 58.

Detroit's Mark Lott has thrown 29 INTs with the next closest group at 23 (Bednar, Burns, and Barrios).

Philadelphia's Frederick Martin leads the league with 1376 rushing yards, just 53 yards ahead of San Antonio's Glenn Graham.

San Jose's James Valdez leads the league with 11 rushing TDs.

Oklahoma's Domenic Winstead leads the league with 115 catches and 1629 yards. His 11 TDs are 1 behind the 12 of Philadelphia's Jason Wharton.

Ryan Habib (So. Cal.) and James Peterson (NO) are tied with 4 kickoff return TDs.

Everyone is tied for the punt return TD lead, even you and me. Maybe we'll get one Week 16.

We have 3 perfect kickers, although one is unlike the other 2. Tampa's Gary Ridgeway, Michigan's Raymond Spencer, and Shreveport's Oscar Hall are all perfect on FGs and XPs. Ridgeway's stats include 8/8 on 50+ yard FGs while the other 2 haven't even tried one over 50.

In addition to them, Orlando's Roger Love is 36/36 in FGs but missed an XP and Pittsburgh's kicker had made all 6 FG tries but missed 2 XPs.

Portland's Michael Carter leads with 19 sacks.

San Jose's Michael Stagg has 10 INTs.

Week 16 was an important week for some teams as they battle for playoff spots, first round byes, and seeding. Let's check out the action.

San Jose just needed to beat West Division Champion Portland to get the #1 overall seed. The Storm had nothing to play for as they were locked in as the #4 seed. The SaberCats offense moved the ball better than the Storm but they converted just 1/15 3rd downs and 2/12 4th downs. Those turnovers on downs led to several short fields for Portland, who took advantage and scored all of their points on short fields, winning 26-0.

That opened the door for Oklahoma to take the #1 seed if they could beat the Houston Gamblers. Raymond Settles and Dale Baber were in an aerial war as neither team ran very well, combining for 61 yards on 39 carries. Oklahoma got the ball first and punted, then Dale Baber found Randy Savage for a 75 yard TD pass. Settles would answer with a TD pass to Domenic Winstead, which Baber answered with a TD pass to Harley Race. Settles then threw an INT before Baber found Lex Luger with a TD pass for a 21-7 1st qtr lead. The teams exchanged TDs in the 3rd qtr before a scoreless 4th gave us a final score of 28-14 Houston.

Dale Baber finished 30/45, 412 yards and 4 TD passes, 2 of those to leading receiver Randy Savage. Macho Man caught 6 for 186 yards in all. Raymond Settles was 33/48, 412 yards, 2 TDs and 1 INT, with Domenic Winstead catching 17 for 158 yards and a TD.

The Gamblers finish 7-9, out of the playoffs. I can't speak for CJ, but earlier this season when my Generals were 0-5, my goal was to finish with a 7-9 record. If you've never lost 10 games in a season, that's a reasonable goal when things go south. Oklahoma misses out on a chance for the #1 seed with the loss and could be a wildcard if San Antonio were to win.

San Antonio had to play the undefeated champs New Orleans and the VooDoo defense held the Gunslingers to a pair of FGs in a 25-6 win to finish the regular season 16-0. Kenneth Anderson threw for 270 yards and 2 TDs, both to Charles Grogan.

These 3 game results leave the playoff picture unchanged, with San Jose getting the BYE, Oklahoma winning the Southwest and #2 seed while San Antonio is the top wildcard team.

Birmingham and Memphis played a de facto playoff game. Memphis would have been in a tiebreaker with Honolulu for the #7 seed had they won, while Birmingham clinched a wildcard with their 43-24 win over Memphis. Russell Gall threw for 361 yards and 2 TDs and Philip Snyder had 2 of Birmingham's 3 rushing TDs as the Stallions broke open a close game in the 2nd half. Glenn Burns often had costly turnovers when Memphis lost this season, but not today. Burns finished 28/40, 309 yards and 3 TDs, with 0 INTs. It was the Memphis defense that cost them today as they allowed 531 yards and 7/15 3rd down conversions.

Honolulu took care of business, beating Los Angeles 31-3 to clinch the #7 seed. The Hawaiians overcame 3 lost fumbles with the help of a clean game from QB Victor Russell. Russell finished 32/44, 252 yards and 2 TDs with 0 sacks or INTs. James Shick had 2 rushing TDs and the defense held the Express to 167 total yards.

I'll get to Michigan and Cleveland in a bit but there was playoff drama in the National Conference too. Birmingham, Orlando, and New York all needed to win to get in, and if one lost they'd have to sweat the New Jersey game. Birmingham was covered earlier and they are in as the #6 seed.

Orlando needed to beat Florida and the Renegades took a 10-0 lead in the 2nd qtr. From there, the game was a punt fest until Dwayne Byrd's 2nd INT led to a short TD drive for Florida to make the score 10-7 early in the 4th. The Renegades defense would add 2 points with a safety and that made the final score 12-7 as the Blazers missed a FG on their only drive after they allowed the safety.

The New York Stars needed to beat East winner Philadelphia to punch their playoff ticket. The Stars led 16-13 entering the 4th. The last quarter was sloppy for both teams as they combined for 5 turnovers in the quarter. Philadelphia kicked a FG early in the 4th to tie the game at 16 before they lost a fumble but New York fumbled it right back, then inside 3 minutes to play, Joel Jasso threw an INT but Jamie Orman threw one right back. Jasso then threw a 79 yard TD pass to Joe Solis to take a 23-16 lead. Orman then threw another INT and Philadelphia ran out the clock to finish 14-2 and the #2 seed. New York was left to watch the end of New Jersey and Boston in the locker room.

New Jersey started the season 0-5 and the goal at that time was to finish 7-9. The Generals got hot toward the end of the season, getting upset wins over 3 playoff teams to put themselves in playoff position. A win over Boston would put the Generals in a tiebreaker with New York for the #7 seed. New Jersey is easy to run on but their pass defense had 2 sacks and 3 INTs today, with Jax Teller intercepting 2 passes, returning one 39 yards for a TD. That was the only New Jersey TD today but Howie "Stump" Schwab booted 4 FGs and Jesse Pinkman ran for 134 yards, while QB Kevin Via didn't screw things up as New Jersey wins 19-3, securing the #7 seed based on net points.

Pittsburgh beat Cleveland 41-3 in a playoff warm up game. Arthur Ortega had a game, scoring 3 TDs with 183 total yards. Ortega ran for 81 yards and 2 TDs and caught 4 for 102 yards and another TD. Pittsburgh ran for 288 yards as a team led by Kenneth Allen's 96 yards. Brian White threw 2 TD passes and the defense held Cleveland to 52 total yards.

Michigan warmed up for the playoffs with a 20-3 win over Southern California. The Panthers had a 75 yard TD drive to open the game and their defense set the tone by forcing a punt on all 5 first half possessions by the Sun. Michigan's offense dried up after that first drive, getting just a FG and led only 10-3 when the Sun kicked a FG early in the 4th qtr. Michigan finally put the game away with a Charles Keller TD run just before the 2 minute warning and they would add a FG following a turnover on downs.

Oakland beat Arizona 17-15 to finish the season 8-8. The Invaders could have been in a 3 way tiebreaker for the #7 seed had Honolulu lost, but the results didn't cooperate. Arizona had a 15-7 halftime lead thanks to a safety, a TD, and a pair of FGs. Oakland won the second half 10-0 though and a John Dean 26 yard FG at the start of the 4th was the eventual game winner. Arizona's Rob Lerner caught 14 for 153 yards.

Jacksonville got 3 TD passes in the 4th qtr from William Barron for a come from behind 31-24 win over Denver. Big Poppa joined the Gold late in the season and Denver immediately began playing better and I'm interested to see the 2010 version of the Gold after BP has an offseason to sigh free agents and draft. Bernard Smith threw for 384 yards and 3 TDs, 2 of those to Brian Robinson who caught 4 for 134 yards in all for Denver. William Barron threw 3 INTs in the first 3 qtrs, but caught fire in the 4th to finish with 530 yards and 4 TD passes. Larry Stafford caught 9 for 119, Marion Stroup caught 3 for 92 and 2 TDs and Gerald Alexander caught the other 2 scores.

Chicago beat Detroit 27-16 behind 2 TD passes from Alex Allen and a defense that had 5 sacks. The Blitz scored 2 TDs and a FG their first 3 drives before the Detroit defense started getting consistent stops. The Wheels tried chipping away at the 10 point deficit, getting as close as 17-13 before Chicago closed the game with 10of the last 13 points for the win.

Tampa Bay beat Charlotte 19-0 despite just 203 total yards of offense. The Bandits defense had 3 sacks and 4 INTs while Charlotte kicker Myron Gilbert missed 2 long FG tries. Gary Ridgeway made all 4 of his FGs and Curtis Torres had a TD pass to lead Tampa Bay to the win.

Baltimore beat Washington 12-9 in OT to finish 7-9 for the season. The Stars overcame 7 sacks and 4 INTs for the win. Baltimore led 9-6 before Washington tied it in the final minute. Baltimore punted in OT after getting the ball first but the defense intercepted Michael Erickson to set up the game winning FG.

Georgia beat Shreveport 9-6 in OT. Both teams combined for 407 total yards, 4 turnovers and 22 punts. The Force defense sacked Adam Patrick 8 times and intercepted 3 of his passes. One of those INTs came in OT to set up the game winning FG.

Number 1 seed, ranked 12 and even at home. Game has me at a mega weakened dice roll state. Unfair, why bother gameplanning.
