Week 3 continued...again

I wanted to be done with this already but I had computer problems after work and had to reset passwords for my backup computer because I don't remember them all. It was running like **** and I tapped the side of the tower and think I knocked a wire loose. I had bets and fantasy stuff to do this morning so it was horrible timing.

I'm going to try and do this fast since I still have to gameplan for 5 games as well.

Los Angeles 16 Shreveport 10

This was an even game in the box score and on the scoreboard in the 4th qtr until Cody Williamson had a 30 yard punt return to set the Express up in instant FG range. Eric Chandler made the 32 yard FG to give LA the lead and he extended it later following a turnover on downs. The win helps the Express keep pace with San Jose as they are the only team in the Pacific within 1 game.

Philadelphia 27 Washington 6

Washington sacked Philadelphia QBs 10 times while Federals QB Michael Erickson was not sacked at all. Washington also won the turnover battle 1-0 but that's where the good news ends. Philadelphia's defense still played well despite doing nothing fantasy wise as they held the Federals to just 117 yards of offense. Joel Jasso was the main Philadelphia QB and he took 8 of the sacks but still threw for 354 yards, 2 TDs and an INT. Jasso spread the ball around but Richard Maciejewski caught 6 for 94 yards and 2 TDs to lead the way.

Georgia 30 Honolulu 6

Both teams moved the ball well and faced potholes along the way. Georgia's potholes were 6 sacks allowed and their QB Adam Patrick is no stranger to taking sacks. The Force also had 1 turnover on offense. Honolulu's potholes were more like sinkholes as QB Victor Russell threw 3 INTs, the offense also lost a fumble and converted just 2/15 3rd downs. Samuel Dunlap had 97 yards rushing and a TD for Georgia and he was complimented by teammate TE William McNeill who caught 8 for 124 and a score.

Georgia cruises to the victory and they are in the thick of the early South race at 2-1.

Houston 35 New Jersey 28

These teams have met in 4 World Bowls and I'll let you guess how many of those Houston won. Seeing as how Houston has never lost a World Bowl to anyone...

This isn't a World Bowl and these teams also did a role reversal. Houston has a prolific offense and it usually comes through the air while New Jersey likes to run the ball when they can. Today though, New Jersey only ran for 29 yards on 23 carries while Houston ran for 206 yards. The Gamblers also threw for 208 yards in an almost perfectly balanced offense. They even flipped the sack roles on defense as New Jersey rookie QB Sam Axe went down 6 times while the vaunted pass rush of the Generals produced just a single sack.

Despite what the final score might indicate, Houston was in control pretty much the whole game as they scored TDs early while New Jersey was kicking FGs. New Jersey got within 7 at the 2:17 mark but the onside kick failed and they never saw the ball again.

Randy Savage had 153 combined yards and 3 TDs for Houston while Andrew Rossi had 176 receiving yards for New Jersey.

Oklahoma 45 Detroit 3

This game had 99 passes and Detroit had none (TDs that is). Detroit QBs threw 58 passes, completing 36 for 262 yards and 2 INTs while Raymond Settles completed 34/41, 568 yards and 7 TDs. Arthur Reina caught 15 for 293 yards and 4 TDs and Domenic Winstead had 100 receiving yards and a TD. Steven Huddleston ran for 99 yards as it wasn't all air damage for the Outlaws.

(NY) Stars 33 Memphis 30

Wow, what a game, a shame I looked at this one last. Each team turned the ball over 4 times yet still had plenty of offensive yards to show for their efforts. Memphis scored on a strip sack while New York scored on an INT return. Memphis got out to a 21-3 2nd qtr lead before the Stars came roaring back to get within 21-20 in the 3rd. The teams traded TDs to close out the 3rd but Memphis missed their XP and we were tied at 27 headed to the 4th.

In the 4th the teams traded FGs before Jerry Parker was intercepted with 5:22 to play. That turned into a short FG for New York, giving them a 33-30 lead and the defense intercepted Parker again, seemingly salting the game away. New York QB Jamie Orman said "hold my beer" though as he promptly threw an INT back to Memphis. Jerry Parker got the offense within FG range but John Everhart was wide left on a 51 yard try and New York ran out the clock for the win.

Week 4

Bad week on the field as the Generals were blanked by the Gunslingers but fantasy wise it was a great Sunday. Even beyond fantasy, it turns out my computer problems were temporary. I don't know how, but once I finally got it to power off, I tried it and it's back to normal.

My one fantasy team (work money league) is 5-0 with big games from Justin Fields and Ja'Marr Chase and those 2 also helped me probably take down 1st place in the NFTDraft tourney. In that one I had Fields, DJ Moore, Chase and a few others that scored me over 250 points. Most weeks 200 will take 1st but this week there were like 20 people over 200 points. They are all finished with players though so if I lose, someone will need to go off tonight.

Enough about me though, you guys are here for USFL football. We lost one of our undefeated teams this week as Oakland was beaten by Honolulu who got their first win of the season. In fact every team now has a win except Detroit. The Wheels might be 0-4 with a -100 point differential but they are only 2 games out of first place as the entire Midwest division is a combined 4-12. The Southwest is 11-5 (8-2 out of division play) while the South is 10-6 (6-2 out of division).

Pittsburgh is doing this year what Birmingham was doing last year...leading the league in scoring offense and defense. The Maulers have scored 142 points this season, just ahead of Houston (138) and San Jose (134). They have allowed just 12 points on the year and have not allowed a TD.San Antonio and Oklahoma are the next stingiest, allowing 24 points while Birmingham has allowed 27.

San Antonio 34 New Jersey 0

Since I started talking about me and my team and I usually start with undefeated teams it's natural to start here. Plus I get my garbage out of the way so I can forget about having my *** handed to me on a silver platter by the new bullies on the block. Generals rookie QB Sam Axe found the sailing a lot rougher this time out as he completed just 9/22 for 82 yards and an INT. The Generals lack of running game didn't help things.

New Jersey allowed a balanced attack for the second week in a row. Last week Houston nearly had identical rushing and passing yard totals and San Antonio did the same today, running for 231 yards and passing for 230. Glenn Graham didn't score for San Antonio but he ran for 165 yards on 27 carries and caught 10 passes for 77 yards. Richard Shockey ran in 2 TDs and George Warner threw for 2 as the Gunslingers move to 4-0.

San Jose 37 Portland 23

If USFL had a fantasy league, you'd want Portland's defense this week even though they allowed 37 points. That would be negative points in most leagues but they also had 8 INTs and 5 sacks. That INT number jumped out at me in the box score as Henderson completed 37/73, 492 yards, 4 TDs and 8 INTs.

San Jose started the game on fire, getting 3 TDs in the first for an early 22-0 lead. Portland fought back, getting to within 28-23 early in the 4th but the SaberCats scored the last 9 points of the game to remain undefeated.

Portland had a pair of 100 yard receivers in Lonnie Johnson (7-123-1) and Richard Petty (6-104-1). San Jose matched that with Lynn McLaurin (8-118-1) and Lee Ramos (8-101-1).

Pittsburgh 33 Arizona 9

The good news for Arizona is they scored the most points against Pittsburgh this season. The bad news is they still lost by 24 points. Pittsburgh is pretty good if you didn't know and today was no different. Darrell Harrington threw for 349 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs with Eugene Williams catching 9 for 116 yards.

The Pittsburgh defense intercepted 2 passes and had 7 sacks in improving to 4-0.

New Orleans 15 Georgia 9

For the second straight week New Orleans wins a division game by a score of 15-9. New Orleans led 7-6 at the half but a Georgia FG early in the 4th gave the Force a 9-7 lead. Willie Graham threw 3 INTs today but he also threw 2 TD passes, with the second one coming with 1:23 left in the game. The 56 yard scoring strike to Wendell Lee gave the VooDoo a 13-9 lead and the 2 point conversion pushed it to 15-9.

The VooDoo defense had 7 sacks and pressured Adam Patrick into a miserable 15/37 passing day for under 100 yards. WR Benjamin Jones more than doubled that on his own, catching 18 for 206 yards and a score.

Week 4 cont'd

Honolulu 17 Oakland 14 (OT)

Honolulu had a 14-6 lead in the 4th qtr when they took over late on the Oakland 24 after the Invaders failed to convert a 4th down play. Michael Marmon was wide right on a FG try, leaving the door open for Oakland. Andy Fulkerson pushed right through the door with a 72 yard TD pass to Miguel Gilbert and the 2 point conversion tied the score with less than 2 minutes to play.

Honolulu got the ball back and when faced with a 4th and 1 from the 30, they went for it rather than try a possible game winning FG from 48 yards. Idk if that was intentional or just a rogue game setting but the play failed and we remained tied.

In the OT period Oakland got the ball first and punted. Honolulu drove down the field on their first possession where Marmon nailed a 39 yard FG to give the Hawaiians their first win of the year.

Philadelphia 37 Houston 28

Houston, we have a problem. The Gamblers defense has been a problem this season. As good as their run defense has been, allowing 1.5 yards per carry, the pass defense allows a ridiculous 87.5% completion rate. One week after allowing a rookie QB to complete 36/39 in his first career start, they allow Philadelphia QBs to complete 31/33. Joel Jasso completed 29/30 for 326 yards and 3 TDs.

The first half was tight with the Bell leading 16-14 before taking control of the game in the 3rd and early 4th, scoring 21 unanswered points for a 37-14 lead. Houston scored a couple of TDs to make the score closer.

Southern California 34 Chicago 28

Chicago had a 20-10 halftime lead thanks in part to a strip sack TD by Thomas Lomax. Chicago's biggest lead was 20-7 before the Sun got a FG at the end of the first half. Southern California seized momentum in the 3rd and 4th with 3 TDs, including 2 TD passes by John Berrios. Those 24 unanswered points saw Southern California take a 31-20 lead. Chicago scored on a Glenn Burns TD pass with just over 2 minutes left and the 2 point conversion got the Blitz within a FG but the onside kick failed. The Sun tacked on a FG for the final margin, getting their first win of the season.

Orlando 20 Jacksonville 13

If Jacksonville could have won this game it would have been a big step toward a possible division title but it wasn't to be as both teams struggled on offense. Orlando started the scoring with a FG, then Jacksonville took the lead back on a 102 yard kickoff return by Jackie Huhn. Orlando took the lead back on a Pick Six by Richard Houser.

From there we saw only FGs and the game was tied at 13 in the last half of the 4th qtr. Inside the 2 minute warning, Dwayne Byrd led a 10 play 80 yard TD drive with the 12 yard scoring toss to Henry Ward the game winner.

Memphis 22 Michigan 6

Memphis QB Jerry "Jeckyll and Hyde" Parker showed his good side today with no INTs and 2 early TD passes to William Beasley as the Showboats then rode their defense and kicker to victory. When Memphis loses, it's been mainly due to Parker INTs but when he doesn't throw to the other team, he's pretty good.

The Showboats defense held Michigan to 108 total yards, accumulating 7 sacks in the process as they even their record at 2-2.

Oklahoma 36 Cleveland 0

It's hard to win when you don't have the ball. In a Week 1 win Cleveland held the ball 34:30 but in the last 2 weeks, they don't have that much time of possession combined. They held the ball 17:06 against San Jose and 17:11 today with just 1 first down.

The Cleveland defense was understandably gassed as the Outlaws had 528 offensive yards, 216 rushing with a 14/20 conversion rate on 3rd down. Steven Huddleston ran for 122 yards and a score while Raymond Settles threw for 319 yards and 2 TDs.

I'm gonna take a short break but should be able to finish the rest of the games before work.

Week 4 cont'd again

Baltimore 24 Charlotte 10

Baltimore gets off the schneid with their first win of the season as Hector Bednar threw 2 TD passes. The Stars converted 10/17 on 3rd down while they held Charlotte to 3/12. The game was tied at 10 late in the 4th until Bednar's 2nd TD pass with 2:09 to play. Charlotte turned it over on downs then Baltimore got an add on TD run from Sean Cleveland for a final score of 24-10.

Birmingham 30 Shreveport 3

Russell Gall threw for 290 yards and 3 TDs while the Stallions defense held Shreveport to 139 total yards in a divisional win. Arnold Griego led the Stallions receivers with 128 yards and a score while Philip Snyder ran for 93 to lead the BCBC. Defensively Birmingham had 2 sacks and 2 INts to improve to 3-1.

Denver 13 Los Angeles 6

Denver's defense had 2 INTs and held the Express to 254 yards of offense. Speaking of offense, the Gold didn't have much of that through the air as their QBs combined to complete just 8/25 for 89 yards. Denver's BCBC ran for 150 yards and the game's only TD as they don't lose for the second week in a row, getting their first win after last week's tie.

(NY) Stars 10 Washington 9

As the score indicates this was a defensive struggle as the teams combined for 445 yards, 5 turnovers, 4 sacks, and 5/26 on 3rd down. New York took the early lead on a Jamie Orman TD pass but Washington got on the board on another Orman pass. New York was pinned near their goal line when Orman dumped it off to Tim Carroll who was tackled in the end zone for a safety. The Federals got a 2 yard Duane Miller TD in the 3rd for a 9-7 lead that lasted until Kenneth Williams made a 54 yard FG early in the 4th as the Stars took the lead back 10-9. There were a couple of turnovers after this but no more scoring as New York improves to 3-1 on the season, good for a share of 1st in the East with Philadelphia.

Tampa Bay 23 Detroit 0

Tampa Bay had a balanced offense, running for 158 yards and passing for 165. Defensively they held Detroit to 141 total yards, forcing 2 fumbles and sacking their QBs 4 times. The Bandits scored the first 4 times they had the ball then it was cruising on easy street the rest of the game.

Florida 27 Boston 3

Boston QB Scott Dahl completed 16/18 passes but the Breakers ran for less than 2 yards a carry. Florida QB Nicholas Meis only completed 7/14 for 40 yards but the Blazers ran for 345 yards on 63 carries to win going away. This win by Florida plus the other results in the Southeast division has left all 4 teams tied with 2-2 records.

John Sanchez ran 37 times for 219 yards and a TD. The 37 carries is the most this century, as I've only checked the 2000's so far. I found a couple of 35 carry games and some other 30+ games but I'll check further back shortly. The 219 yards is the highest single game total so far this year.

Graham Folks ran 23 times for 109 yards and a TD.

Found a 37 carry game from 1994. New Orleans' Donald Briggs ran 37 times for 46 yards against Charlotte. I'll keep looking back.

In 1986 Cleveland's Samuel Draper ran 39 times for 206 yards against Chicago. That means today's performance is not a record so I'll stop looking now.

My sleep schedule got messed up by a nap last night so I don't have time for a writeup before work. At first glance we were going to lose an undefeated team regardless as 4-0 San Jose played 4-0 New Orleans. It did not end well for the SaberCats as Larry Henderson had his worst game in a long time.

Detroit got their first win of the season so now, every team has at least 1 win on the season.

It's going to be a long season in New Jersey, most likely our worst ever. The Generals have not lost more than 9 games in a season ever but looking at my schedule I struggle to come up with a path for 6 more wins. Our problems are worse than just QB as the defense, especially the run defense hasn't been very good. We give up too many points, forcing the offense to be perfect and they're not.

I'll dig into the games after work in the wee hours of the morning.

Well I got a break from work, we are slow and have plenty of drivers for now. I probably won't get finished but I'll get some done.

Week 5

New Orleans 23 San Jose 0

This was a battle of 4-0 teams that ended up a one sided affair after the VooDoo held the SaberCats to 200 total yards. San Jose ran for more than they passed as Larry Henderson completed 23/55, 137 yards, 3 INTs and 6 sacks for minus 48 yards. They were 3/19 on 3rd down and 3/11 on 4th which contributed to New Orleans having an average drive start at their own 49 yard line.

New Orleans struggled to move the ball through the air as well but their BCBC had 185 rushing yards and a TD on 32 carries.

San Antonio 37 Cleveland 3

The Gunslingers earn their 5th straight win, 3rd straight blowout behind a balanced offense and a tough defense. San Antonio ball carriers had a combined 201 yards and a TD, led by Glenn Graham's 143 and that TD. George Warner threw for 217 yards and 3 TDs (1 INT) while the defense held Cleveland to 183 total yards with 3 INTs and a sack.

This is the best start to a season in team history as they seek their first playoff berth since 1976. San Antonio owned the Southwest division the first 3 years of the league, finishing 12-4, 13-3, and 12-4. Since 1976, they have failed to make the playoffs and had just 2 non losing seasons...an 8-8 1994 and a 9-7 1998.

Pittsburgh 47 Charlotte 0

The beat rolls on for Pittsburgh as they maul Charlotte for the second time in 3 weeks. Last time was 45-0 so they are consistent, and their point differential of +177 is more than the total points scored by 30 of the 31 other teams, everyone but Houston.

Darrell Harrington completed 24/34, 327 yards and 4 TDs, with big days for Eugene Williams (8-131-1) and Patrick Howard (8-124-2). Felix Vaughn had 2 rushing TDs and the defense held the Hornets to a measly 24 total yards.

Oakland 15 Denver 0

Oakland only had 290 offensive yards and no TDs but the 3 FGs they did get, plus a 66 yard punt return TD by George Coleman were enough to get the win. The Invaders defense held Denver to 167 total yards and had 3 INTs. QB Andy Fulkerson completed passes to 11 different receivers.

Oklahoma 27 Arizona 14

Raymond Settles completed 28/41, 369 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT with 100 yard days from Gary Kahn (4-127-1) and Arthur Reina (9-114). They also got 95 rushing yards from Steven Huddelston and would have had more points if Daniel Beaupre wouldn't have missed 3 FGs.

The defense did their job well, holding Arizona to 162 total yards after sacking Curtis Kim 6 times and intercepting him once.

Birmingham 31 Orlando 20

There were a lot of yards in this game as Birmingham had 436 and Orlando had 357. Third downs were a different story as Orlando was 0/10 while Birmingham was 8/19. The Stallions scored the first 4 times they had the ball in building a 20-0 first half lead. Orlando tried to come back and got within 23-14 after a 91 yard TD run by John Jones but Birmingham took the momentum right back with a Barry Stringfellow 107 yard kickoff return TD.

At the end of the game, Orlando QB Dwayne Byrd threw 2 TDs and 2 INTs while getting sacked 3 times to finish with 212 passing yards. Russell Gall completed 30/40, 330 yards, 2 TDs, 1 sack and no INTs.

Philadelphia 33 (NY) Stars 20

420 dude. Philadelphia QB Joel Jasso threw for 420 yards and 2 TDs to lead the Bell over division rival New York. The first 2 and a half quarters were a FG contest until Jasso's 1st TD pass, a 27 yard toss to Mitchell Allen. New York struck back on a 109 yard kickoff return TD by Terrance Shull.

At this point of the game, the score was 16-10 Philadelphia. The score stayed the same until a Stars FG in the 4th followed by Jasso's 2nd TD pass, 32 yards to Alfredo Montoya. The Stars would strike back quickly again, this time on a 73 yard TD run by Robert Hooper, making the score 23-20 Bell. That's as close as New York would get though as Philadelphia scored the last 10 points of the game to take control of the East division.

Alfredo Montoya had 191 combined yards, rushing for 59 yards to lead the team while catching 11 for a team high 132 yards and a TD.

Time for me to go back to work now but this should cover the games of the 5-0 and 4-1 teams. Be back later.

More Week 5

Los Angeles 24 Southern California 6

Los Angeles scored 21 points in the 2nd qtr to take control of the game and the defense did the rest. Ricky Hembree ran for a 0 yard TD and was credited with 1 rush for 0 yards and a TD in the box score. Myron Dustin followed that up with a pair of 3 yard TD passes as the Express took a 21-3 halftime lead. The Express BCBC had 169 yards on the ground and the defense had 6 sacks.

Jacksonville 32 New Jersey 21

New Jersey got out to a 14-0 lead on a pair of Sam Axe TD passes following drives of 75 and 85 yards. The Generals only had 230 yards for the game so that's 70 yards after the first 2 drives...not good. Jacksonville scored the next 27 points for a 27-14 lead, getting a pair of FGs, a pair of William Barron TD passes and a 90 yard TD run by Jackie Huhn. That takes us to the 4th where New Jersey pulled within 27-21 thanks to a Pick Six by Robert Francis. That's as close as they'd get as the Bulls added a safety and a FG to close out the win.

Boston 14 Washington 9

Both teams ran the ball well today as the Breakers had 260 yards on the ground, averaging 6.34 yards a carry while the Federals averaged 5.89 yards on 27 carries for 159 yards. The biggest differences in the outcome were the QBs and the red zone. Anthony Gravely completed 12/17 for Boston while Michael Erickson completed 19/39 for a much less efficient game. That probably explains why Boston went 2 for 2 in the red zone while Washington was 0-3 with 3 FGs.

Portland 17 Baltimore 6

Raymond Oswalt threw 2 TD passes and Thomas Frank ran for 107 to lead Portland to victory over Baltimore today. The Portland defense had 5 sacks and allowed just 135 total yards. Michael Carter had 4 of those sacks to lead the defense.

Detroit 26 Michigan 9

Mark Lott threw a pair of 1st qtr TD passes as Detroit took an early 14-3 lead. Michigan would get within 14-9 on a pair of FGs before Detroit scored the last 12 points of the game on 4 FGs. Lott finished 24/34, 302 yards, 2 TDs and 0 INTs. The Wheels defense forced no turnovers but allowed just 221 yards thanks to holding the Panthers to 1/12 on 3rd down.

Houston 40 Chicago 29

These are the only 2 teams to have scored over 100 points this season and allowed 100+ points. The over/under for this game started at 52.5 before all the over bettors pushed the line all the way up to 56.5. Houston had 543 offensive yards, 193 on the ground although they turned the ball over 5 times on a pair of INTs and losing 3 of 5 fumbles.

The Gamblers started the game with a pair of Dale Baber 1 yard TD passes to Mark Merlo for a 14-0 lead before Chicago got within 17-14 in the 2nd qtr on a pair of Glenn Burns TD passes. That's as close as the Blitz would get as Houston stayed one step ahead.

Burns completed 24/30, 305 yards and 4 TD passes with big games from Clifton Gentry (8-141-1) and Nathaniel Gongora (6-125-2). Dale Baber also threw 4 TD passes while adding a rare QB TD run. That's just the 2nd rushing TD by a QB this season and among QBs, Baber leads with 51 rushing yards on the season. Obviously MFN is behind the curve when it comes to running QBs.

Amazingly, no Houston WR topped 100 yards but they did have 2 with at least 90. Randy Savage ran for 108 yards while catching 10 passes for 90 yards and a TD while Mark Merlo had a combined 113 yards.

Houston's defense overall had a good game, with 17 Chicago runs netting the Blitz basically a holding penalty...negative 10 yards. The Gamblers also had 7 sacks and believe it or not, allowing Burns to complete 80% of his passes actually lowered the overall completion % they've allowed this season as it was 87.5% coming in.

Memphis 33 Honolulu 7

Memphis used a balanced offensive attack and a strong defense to score a win over the Hawaiians today. The Showboats BCBC ran for 222 yards and 3 TDs on 39 carries, helping the offense convert 10/14 on 3rd down. Jerry Parker completed 23 passes to 9 different receivers, finishing with 263 yards, 2 TDs and an INT.

The Memphis defense allowed just 148 yards, getting 3 sacks and an INT in the win.

Florida 20 Shreveport 3

Nicholas Meis threw 2 TD passes, completing 22/27 for 164 yards while John Sanchez had a combined 145 yards to lead the Blazers to victory. Sanchez ran for 99 and caught 6 for 46 yards and a score. Shreveport had 215 total yards of offense with 89 of that coming on a 10 play FG drive, leaving just 126 yards the rest of the game.

Tampa Bay 17 Georgia 8

Georgia scored the first 8 points of the game on a safety and a TD but Tampa Bay held them scoreless over the final 2 and a half qtrs. Curtis Torres got the Bandits within 8-7 at the half on a 70 yard TD pass to Steven Franklin in the 2nd qtr. The Bandits would add a 4th qtr FG for a 10-8 lead before Torres and Franklin struck for another scoring pass to take a 17-8 lead. Tampa Bay's defense would hold over the final 10:45 and this win gives them a share of the 3 way tie atop the Southeast with Jacksonville and Florida.

Week 6

I want to start by saying SPOILER ALERT!! Stop reading if you do not want your game result revealed yet.

I repeat, stop reading if you don't know your game result yet.

**** naps, if I don't do this now, I'll be scrambling to do this sometime over the weekend. For those that don't know, half of my work week is Friday/Saturday nights so I don't have much free time until football Sunday.

Right now I'm just typing away, making sure I have enough content so as not to spoil anything for anyone if they click here first. Really though, my warning above should be sufficient so I think I'll stop dicking around now...

We are down to 2 undefeated teams as Georgia upset New Orleans 6-5 on a walk off HR. Congrats to San Antonio and Pittsburgh for beating everyone on your schedules so far. Not only are your teams 6-0, they also have the best point differentials in the league. Pittsburgh is +214 while San Antonio are +146. Only 5 other teams in the league have even scored 146 or more let alone outscore their opponents by such a large margin.

Georgia 6 New Orleans 5

Games like this are why you stay away from divisional games in survivor pools as a lot of people would have been eliminated off this result. One week after shutting down the high octane San Jose passing attack, the VooDoo were Forced into 15 punts today. Georgia's offense was just as ineffective as both teams combined for 326 yards, 7 sacks, 3 turnovers and 0/3 in the red zone with 3 FGs.

New Orleans sacked Adam Patrick 5 times, including once for a safety to get the scoring started. They added a FG in the 2nd for a 5-0 lead they took into the 3rd qtr. Georgia got a couple of second half FGs to win the game 6-5.

San Antonio 41 Michigan 10

Glenn Graham ran for 157 yards and a TD, adding another 37 yards and catching one of 3 George Warner TD passes. The Gunslingers defense allowed only 81 total yards, getting 9 sacks, an INT and allowing 0/12 on 3rd down. All told, San Antonio ran for 242 yards and passed for 228 after sacks, yet another balanced attack. It's gonna be hard to beat the Gunslingers if they keep playing like this.

Pittsburgh 40 Denver 3

I might just start copying and pasting the Pittsburgh writeups, only editing stat lines and team names. Every week it's the same, Darrell Harrington completed 25/36, 288 yards, 5 TDs and an INT. Patrick Howard caught 9 for 142 yards and 3 TDs while Felix Vaughn ran for 118. The Maulers defense allowed just 90 yards, had 5 sacks including one for a safety and they forced a pair of turnovers. You get the picture, Pittsburgh is good.

Now let's see how the other division leaders fared.

San Jose 26 Oklahoma 10

San Jose and Larry Henderson rebounded from last week's debacle by getting an important win over Oklahoma. As per usual with Henderson, he completed 42/63, 525 yards, 3 TDs, 4 INTs, and 5 sacks. San Jose was 5/8 on 4th down and when Oklahoma had the ball they couldn't run. The Outlaws finished with 8 yards on 12 carries and Settles was intercepted 3 times as a result.

San Jose got out to a 16-0 first half lead and led 26-3 after 3 so today, the sacks and turnovers did not hurt. Arthur Reina caught 9 for 131 yards for Oklahoma while San Jose had 3 top the century mark. Last year, team owner Smirt211 famously said "Jacob Newman sucks" right before Newman went on a run of stat stuffing/record setting. They sold T shirts and everything, but with the addition of Lee Ramos and Lynn McLaurin, Newman has been reduced to third fiddle, not even second fiddle. Today though, Newman led the way with 8 catches, 153 yards and a TD. Lee Ramos caught 14 for 139 and a score while Wanda Sykes' cousin Donald caught 7 for 119.

Arizona 6 Oakland 3

This looks like a Diamondbacks score, thanks to them btw for beating the Dodgers in the MLB playoffs. Defense ruled the day in this game as Oakland sacked Curtis Kim 7 times and intercepted him once while Arizona forced Andy Fulkerson into a 2 INT day, sacking him 4 times and allowing only 159 yards and 3/14 on 3rd down. Patrick McManus caught 10 for 115 yards and Arizona won the FG kicking contest 2-1.

Portland 27 Southern California 0

The Storm defense pitched a shutout, allowing just 150 yards and getting 5 sacks and an INT to gain a share of 1st place thanks to the Oakland loss. Raymond Oswalt completed 22/29 for 236 yards, with Robert Settle catching 5 for 109 yards and a TD. Michael Carter had 4 sacks for the second straight week.

Chicago 20 Cleveland 10

As a whole, the Midwest is not having a good season as they are just 6-18 overall, 3-15 outside of division play. Chicago's win today puts them at .500 with a 3-3 record, which is good for a 2 game lead on the division. Brian Smith had 136 combined yards, getting 82 and a TD on the ground to lead the Blitz offense. Not many passes hit the ground as both QBs combine to complete 50/61 for 362 yards.

Jacksonville 27 Shreveport 13

The whole Southeast is tight but after today's win, the Bulls are in sole possession of first place. Jackie Huhn ran for 90 yards and a TD to lead the offense while the defense bent but didn't break. William Caswell caught 8 for 147 yards in a losing effort.

Birmingham 35 Florida 9

Russell Gall completed 19/23, 261 yards and 5 TDs to lead the Stallions to victory. Gary May caught 3 of those scores among his 6 for 163 yards. Arnold Griego caught the other 2 and Philip Snyder just missed a 100 yard game, gaining 99 on the ground. The Birmingham defense put out the Blazers offense, holding them to 150 yards while getting 3 sacks and an INT.

Philadelphia 32 Memphis 16

This game was a tight, back and forth affair until the 4th qtr when Jerry Parker had another meltdown. Philadelphia took an early 7-0 lead on a Frederick Martin 12 yard TD run before Memphis scored 10 straight to take the lead. Philadelphia would sandwich a Memphis TD/missed XP with a pair of FGs to give us a halftime score of 16-13 Memphis.

Joel Jasso had a 53 yard TD pass early in the 3rd and led a pair of FG drives early in the 4th for a 26-16 lead. Jerry Parker has had 4th qtr meltdowns before and during the one today, he threw INTs on 3 consecutive 4th qtr drives leading to a pair of Bell FGs to seal the game for Philadelphia.
