San Jose WR Mark Hsu set league records for receiving yards and TDs in a season. Hsu had 2,745 yards, 197 more than what Dusty Heckman had back in 1976. The record for most TDs in a season has been held since 1976 as well and tied in 1977. We've had a few players since challenge 26 receiving TDs in a season, but nobody passed it until this year when we had 2 do it.

Hsu ended up with 29 to break the record while Baltimore's John Warkentin also bested the record with 28 this year.

Pretty interesting that San Jose's QB Jake Plummer threw 37 TD passes....29 to Hsu.

Hsu has to be considered in the MVP vote along with QBs Don Ferguson, Tony Dean and Melvin Driggers.

I haven't actually looked at what plays Holly's called, but I think this suggests a one-dimensional, FL Hitch heavy attack. After you call any play more than say 4 or 5 times in a game, the effectiveness falls to almost zero. The reason that the Hitch is so devastating is that the first three times you call it (before overuse kicks in) you are as likely to go for 50+ yards as you are for 3 yards.

Working on the All Pro ballot now and I can't remember a deeper pool of RB candidates. We had 10 rush for over 1,000 yards and when you factor in receiving it's gets deeper, like I could add a legit 7 or 8 more that had a combined 1500 or more.

I'll whittle it down to 10 somehow but some deserving names will be left off.

My top 3 RBs combined for 3000 total yards (rushing, receiving, and returning). Can they be lumped together as the mythical RBBC?

We had a lot of teams use a RBBC so I'm a little surprised by all the 1,000 yard rushers. I went back as far as 1987 and the most 1,000 yard rushers previous was 8. Most years your Jose Moses would make it but not this year, way too many better stat lines.

Moses was hurt and did not play well. He doesn't deserve a mention at all. There is a reason why I've gone RBBC the past few years.

Your QB and WR will make the ballot, although Robinson isn't one of the big 3 WR, Only 2 will make it from Hsu, Glenn and Warkentin.

That's actually better than my Generals so far, only Ferguson is gonna make it from QB, RB, and WR. Redd Foxx will be one of 5 TE on the ballot, but I don't see how TE isn't Merkel again.
