Another issue I found is the rule for the defensive line was established with the intention that defensive linemen would play on the defensive line.
A caveat was added in case of injury to use underweight linebackers in the depth chart with speed no faster then 80.
The flaw in the rule is some teams carry only 4 to 5 defensive linemen so depth is immediately challenged and the result is LDE2 and RDE2 are 237 pound linebackers.
No the rule isn't violated but I think its not really the spirit of the rule.
My opinion, I'm not the league admin but having no defensive line depth sorta falsely creates depth issues.
5 DL 0 DT
One team has 5 defensive linemen, no DTs and a 237 pound LB is RDE2 and LDE2.
4 DL 1 DT
Another team has 4 defensive linemen with one of them as LDE5, RDE5 and DT5 while a 240 LB is LDE2, RDE2 and DT4.
5 DL 0 DT
A third team has 5 defensive linemen with no DT. One of them is LDE4 & RDE4 while a 246 pound linebacker with 85 speed is LDE3 & RDE3 (VIOLATION MEMPHIS).
In contrast we have teams with:
9 DL 4 DT
7 DL 3 DT
11 DL 4 DT
7 DL 2 DT
10 DL 4 DT
12 DL 4 DT
7 DL 4 DT
8 DL 3 DT
9 DL 4 DT
7 DL 3 DT
9 DL 5 DT
8 DL 3 DT
9 DL 3 DT
10 DL 6 DT
7 DL 3 DT
6 DL 3 DT
9 DL 5 DT
9 DL 4 DT
9 DL 3 DT
8 DL 2 DT
8 DL 2 DT
8 DL 3 DT
9 DL 4 DT
9 DL 4 DT
9 DL 4 DT
9 DL 4 DT
9 DL 3 DT
10 DL 4 DT
6 DL 2 DT*
IMO....We need to create a minimum number required for defensive line and defensive tackle. Looks to me like 28 owners already are doing it.
