The Houston Gamblers missed the postseason for the first time in a long time last season thanks mostly to a 30th ranked defense but a 13th ranked offense didn't help either.
Due to the fact I made some horrible trades in the past, I had no 1st-4th round picks in this draft and I had to make another bad trade just to get a late 3rd rounder which based on my horrible defense last season I selected a RB! LMAO!!
RB Rob Van Dam 3.30
+11/+2.
He has 90 speed and should lose some weight and get to 92-93 hopefully and his ball carry should max out in time. His avoid fumble is a problem but he could be a possible starter in a few seasons while getting touches right away as depth.
RB Nick Bockwinkel 5.14
+6/-7
A TE that I hoped to convert to a RB or WR but a 5th rounder can't afford to bust -7 and be a difference maker in this league. He probably makes the team for now but he may not last his entire 4 year rookie contract.
MLB Brock Lesner 5.31
+3/-2
He was a DE who I was hoping could boom and make the transition to LB. He has 77 speed at 280 lbs so he should reach 84 speed if he drops weight to LB size but his other attributes aren't great. He makes the roster as a project but is only depth.
CB Nick "Mankind" Foley
+2/-9
Another draft DE who I wanted to convert to a DB or LB. He has 78 speed at 270 lbs so he too should reach 84-85 speed in time but all his skill attributes and mid to bad so he should fit in on our terrible defense. Another player who makes roster as a project that won't pan out.
CB Sid Justice 6.13
+7/+2
I took a flyer on this DB in the 6th round with 87 speed and he ticked up a bit but he is average at best but he makes a depleted roster so we get younger and see how he develops.
SLB Scott Steiner 6.23
+1/0
An interesting DE found late in the 6th round who has 76 speed at 280 lbs so he should reach the low 80s in time and he actually has decent overall skills. Well decent for my pathetic defense so he could actually be a player in a season or 2. Not bad for a late 6th rounder, not a star but also not a waste.
The Gamblers may be looking at back to back seasons of missing the postseason!!! We will see.
