Welcome all and good luck as we begin our 28th season of USFL/WFL football 10 hours from now. Smirt and his San Jose SaberCats are target #1 for the league as we all want what he has, the latest World Bowl trophy. Can San Jose repeat? Yes they can, but it won't be easy as we have a lot of successful GMs here with solid rosters and game plans.
We also have some new owners, and I must remind everyone not to use WR to carry the ball. The league has voted on this twice and they don't want it so we don't allow it. This is non negotiable, and if you need to have a WR run the ball, you'll need to switch his position to RB. You may use a RB as a WR however, and I do just that with Jeff Lebowski. There are some other rules https://usflwfl.myfootballnow.com/forums/1/2356?page=1#15317 but nothing out of the ordinary. Most importantly, have fun. This is just a game. I'm not singling anyone out, but I am aware of some possible bad blood between some owners here, and I am asking all of you to please play nice while in our forums and settle your differences on the virtual playing field. Let's play some football!! |

Good game Pittsburgh/hammond. Thought I was catching a break getting you in Week 1 before you had a chance to figure your team out, but my new starting QB played like he wants to be back on the bench.
Good luck the rest of the season. |

Week 1 stat check...
We had zero 300 yard passers and just 1 QB had a QBR over 100. Glenn Burns of Detroit completed 21/26 for 255 yards and 2 TDs. Only Willie Graham of New Orleans threw for more yards (276) and his 2 TD passes tie him for the very early league lead. We had a pair of 100 yard rushers and they are both VooDoo RBs. New Orleans not only had the leading passer in Graham, but Elias Williams (161) and Harry Charles (119) are the top 2 rushers after Week 1. San Jose almost had a 100 yard RB as Jeffrey Richins finished with 99, but the SaberCats were likely more happy with his 3 rushing TDs. On a side note, thank you to everyone as we had 100% compliance on the no WR running the ball rule. It makes me happy that I don't have to send anyone a reminder PM about our rules. We had no 100 yard WR either, and just 3 in the 90's. We also had no double digit catch guys as Hugh Chance (HOU) and Keith McGhee (CHI) caught 9 each. Detroit's Scott Duke paces the yardage with 94. No WR caught more than 1 TD pass as we only had 20 total TD passes league wide in Week 1. We did have a pair of kickoff return TDs as Donald Sykes (TB) and Ricardo Horton (OKL) each took one 103 yards for a score. There were 2 kickers with 6 FGs in 6 tries, Earl Castro (HOU) and Daniel Pitts (FLA). Castro made 2 from 50+ and 3 more between 40-49 while Pitts had shorter attempts overall. San Antonio punter Michael Larson is at the bottom of the list for gross and net average per kick, but that's because he didn't have much room to punt. Seven of his eleven punts ended up inside the 20 yard line. Timothy Babbitt of Southern California recorded 20 tackles in Week 1. Georgia's Joshua Wagner recorded 3 sacks to pace the league. QBs threw 32 INTs league wide and 4 defensive players got 2 each: Robert Brown (BIR), Wade Mullenix (JAX), William Dougherty (SA) and Rodney James (CHA). |
