American Conference Wildcard Round
Oklahoma Outlaws (12-4) @ Michigan Panthers (10-6) Point Spread: Oklahoma -4 Oklahoma: Offense 4th Defense 12th Michigan: Offense 22nd Defense 26th Last Playoff Appearance:Oklahoma 1998 Michigan 1998 Playoff Records:Oklahoma 4-7 Michigan 7-12 Head to Head: This is the first post season game between these teams. Michigan won 13-9 Week 5 of this season. Injuries:Oklahoma 5 probable, 3 questionable Michigan 8 probable, 2 doubtful Prediction:Oklahoma 23 Michigan 16 Oklahoma has won 8 of 9 games with the only loss coming to #2 seed Houston while Michigan has won 10 of 12 following an 0-4 start. The Panthers 2 losses in that span were to San Jose and Portland, so both teams are playing good football. The Outlaws have better stats, better health and play in a tougher division so I give them the edge in this game. _____________________________________________________________________________ Denver Gold (11-5) @ Portland Storm (13-3) Point Spread: Portland -5 Denver: Offense 25th Defense 7th Portland: Offense 5th Defense 1st Last Playoff AppearanceDenver 1997 Portland 1998 Playoff Records:Denver 14-13 (1-1 World Bowl) Portland 20-14 (3-2 World Bowl) Head to Head: Portland swept Denver both games this season. Portland and Denver have each won 2 of the 4 playoff games between these two teams, the Storm won the first 2, the Gold the last 2. Injuries:Denver 6 probable, 3 questionable Portland 3 probable, 3 questionable, 1 doubtful Prediction:Portland 21 Denver 10 Portland swept Denver in 1999 although they didn't score more than 17 points in either game. Both teams play good defense but I think Portland's superior offense will do enough for the Storm to advance. _______________________________________________________________________________ Honolulu Hawaiians (10-6) @ Houston Gamblers (14-2) Point Spread: Houston -10 Honolulu: Offense 6th Defense 17th Houston: Offense 1st Defense 5th Last Playoff Appearance:Honolulu 1993 Houston 1998 Playoff Records:Honolulu 0-9 Houston 31-10 (7-0 World Bowl) Head to Head: Houston beat Honolulu 32-0 Week 10 of this season. Houston is 1-0 vs Honolulu in the post season Injuries:Honolulu 5 probable, 1 doubtful Houston 5 probable, 2 questionable Prediction:Houston 27 Honolulu 17 I would love to see Slick get his first ever USFL playoff win but it's going to be tough to get it against Houston. The Gamblers have a new QB but they are a strong title contender still and should be able to win this game at home. |

National Conference Wildcard Round
Jacksonville Bulls (10-6) @ Washington Federals (10-6) Point Spread: Washington -1 Jacksonville: Offense 12th Defense 4th Washington: Offense 17th Defense 11th Last Playoff Appearance:Jacksonville 1998 Washington 1998 Playoff Records:Jacksonville 5-9 Washington 17-17 (0-5 World Bowl) Head to Head: Jacksonville beat Washington 32-6 Week 14 of this season. Washington is 1-0 vs Jacksonville in the post season. Injuries:Jacksonville 2 probable, 1 questionable Washington 3 probable, 1 questionable, 4 doubtful Prediction:Jacksonville 24 Washington 20 Jacksonville won the regular season meeting and had better offensive and defensive stats. The Bulls are also healthier, although I think the Federals won't go down without a fight. ____________________________________________________________________________ New York Stars (9-7) @ Shreveport Steamer (11-5) Point Spread: Shreveport -1 New York: Offense 7th Defense 24th Shreveport: Offense 18th Defense 11th Last Playoff Appearance:New York 1996 Shreveport 1998 Playoff Records:New York 5-8 Shreveport 8-12 Head to Head: Shreveport beat New York 17-13 Week 12 of this season. Shreveport is 2-1 vs New York all time in the post season Injuries:New York 7 probable, 3 questionable, 1 Out Shreveport 5 probable, 4 questionable Prediction:Shreveport 20 New York 16 Shreveport has been a playoff regular lately and I feel that recent playoff experience will pay off in a tight game. ______________________________________________________________________________ Georgia Force (9-7) @ Orlando Renegades (12-4) Point Spread: Orlando -2 Georgia: Offense 8th Defense 23rd Orlando: Offense 11th Defense 18th Last Playoff Appearance:Georgia 1998 Orlando 1996 Playoff Records:Georgia 1-4 Orlando 3-6 Head to Head: Georgia beat Orlando 23-0 Week 6 of 1998. This is the first ever post season games between these teams. Injuries:Georgia 3 probable, 1 questionable Orlando 5 probable, 3 questionable Prediction:Orlando 24 Georgia 20 Orlando comes in on a 4 game winning streak while Georgia has lost their last 3 games, all to current playoff teams. Team stats are close to a wash and Georgia is a bit healthier, but I'm picking the Renegades to advance.

As long as the Storm and Generals don't play another Title game. Owners that win 2 or 3 straight Titles are aggravating!!!
Give someone new a chance...geez!!! JK I would love the Storm to knock off the Generals in the 3rd rematch but I'm not sure if Warthog would sign up for that!! |

Concerning my Generals, our offense is still pretty good, ranked #2 but our defense is middle of the pack. If Ferguson has one of "those" games where he turns the ball over, we could be in trouble. Last 2 championship seasons our defense was top 10. I would love to win a 3rd straight title, never done that, but I also wouldn't be disappointed if someone else wins it all, especially if I get knocked out before the World Bowl. The National Conference has only won 5 World Bowls and the only one besides my 4 is Florida all the way back in our first season. Hopefully these last 2 years starts a stretch where my conference dominates.

Reminds me of the ALLSTAR game in MLB years ago where one league dominated for a long time then it switched to the other league for a long time.
I would definately like to see some new blood win it. I've had my share of success and making the playoffs is reward enough for me.....with that said I still play it the same as always so if someone beats me....it's versus my A game. Maybe it's just me but it feels like Slick has improved under version 4.6! |

Greg,
Wild Card madness. How is Scott Randall showing as one of the defensive players of the week - he is not on my defensive depth chart before anyone asks!!!! |

Idk for sure, usually it's for special teams or something when he's on the right. Maybe because he pulled an Al Bundy (4 TDs in a single game) he got listed twice. |

It's another of the many glitches in the game...remember their are only 6 games to pull stats from and anyone who has a mega-game can sneak into the list twice...especially if no defensive players had big games.
