I didn't want to say anything in this thread, but there has been a lot of discussion in the chat we have going for our league, and I feel like I do want to add my personal comments to this thread.
While I'm 100% supportive of a subscription model for the game, as long as it shows that there is a steady stream of revenue coming in and therefore, a steady stream of updates and improvements to the game
(such as, for example, a mobile interface for the game) then I support that and I would be signing up to one of the tiers right now. What is putting me in the "nope" column at the moment is several issues. Firstly, the tier structure is all wrong. Like Colonel Failure said:-

From feedback in my league, the ads are the biggest hassle people deal with. Additionally, 90% of them only play in the one league. The "multi-league" first payment tier doesn't offer them anything they'll benefit from. Maybe consider offering ad-free, or customisation in the first paid tier?
There should be a tier between Free and Starter that allows for those who play in one league to subscribe and be able to remove ads. Not forcing them into the MVP package for $150/year (or even $15/month) just for the perk. $15/month is what I pay for Netflix and I get much more bang for my buck with that then I would with this subscription. Using MFN on mobile without a proper mobile interface but it is manageable to an extent but with ads popping up all the time, it's unbearable and you can just forget about it. It is the reason I bought credits on multiple occasions, firstly because I enjoy the game and wanted to give some of my own money to it's improvement, but also so I could play the game without seeing ads every single time I go to a new screen. It worked great for me, especially when I am at work and don't have access to my PC
(I'd be on my iPad) and wanted to check in or make a trade or a change to my team before the next sim cycle. The lack of a simple subscription to allows those people who enjoy the game, and want to keep on doing so without multiple ads popping up in their face is something that needs to be looked into.
Secondly, the tiers are not properly explained:-
What are these "customizations"?
Are they more than the customizations then what is provided during a league's offseason?
Are there new customizations features available during the season that are only unlocked with a Pro/MVP subscription?
Details on that would be helpful to give people an idea of what they are getting if they fork out their own money to subscribe. I don't see one bit of incentive to subscribe to any of the tiers if I don't see what advantages I get over someone else who is on the free subscription. Ads should (IMO) be the first advantage someone gets to putting in their money to the game. Ads are there for revenue, clearly. So someone who is providing a recurring amount of money should be able to not have to see ads. There needs to be a much clearer explanation as to what each tier provides.
Finally, a clear roadmap as to how these subscriptions will improve the game would have been a good part of the conversation. Giving the player base an idea of where the game is going over the next 12-24 months with the revenue brought in by the subscriptions would give people an idea of where their money is being spent on. Now, I'm sure 99% of people would be very smart in understanding that a large portion (if not all) of the money brought in by credits and now subscriptions would be going to server costs and what-not
(don't need to be a rocket scientist to know that) but having an idea of where the game is going over some time frame would be nice.
What new features are being looked into or designed?
What improvements are being thought of, or even tested at the moment?
What bugs are at the top of the list for being fixed?
Things like that would have made this announcement ten times better and I think a much better response. I know just from our league group chat that a lot of our owners are not at all interested in subscribing as they just do not see any benefit or incentive to subscribe.
