PISCATAWAY, NJ — The Generals advanced in the 2021 playoffs with a 24-0 victory over the Renegades in the Divisional Round on Sunday. Quarterback Zachary McClure led the Generals' offense to two touchdown passes and accounted for 206 passing yards. The Renegades were held scoreless as their offense could not capitalize throughout the game.

Travis Washington's Generals struck first in the opening quarter when McClure connected with wide receiver Emeka Egbuka for a 3-yard touchdown at 4:24. Mike Nugent added the extra point to give the visitors a 7-0 lead. The Renegades struggled to generate momentum on offense, going scoreless while punting several times. Their quarterback, Jesse Alexander, completed 19 of 31 attempts for 107 yards but threw an interception late in the third quarter.

The Generals added a second touchdown in the third quarter following a key interception by Paul Lester at the Renegades’ 18-yard line. On the ensuing possession, McClure found Egbuka again for a 17-yard score at 4:41, extending the lead to 14-0 after Nugent's extra point. Gregory Davis contributed on the ground with 67 rushing yards and the team's overall rushing attack totaled 104 yards. The lone field goal of the game came from Nugent as well, completing the Generals' scoring.

Defensively, the Generals dominated, recording one sack, forcing one fumble that they recovered, and intercepting one pass. The Renegades’ offense failed to convert on any third-down opportunities and had no trips to the red zone. Their combined rushing and passing yards totaled 211 but produced zero points.

Renegades head coach Rueben Mahaffey was unable to find answers against a well-prepared Generals team, who limited Renegades' star drives and forced errors throughout the contest. Generals' linebacker A.J. Hawk contributed a forced fumble, highlighting the defense’s disruptive effort.

Both teams had multiple punts and fair catches, reflecting a defensive battle punctuated by field position plays. The Generals picked up two penalties for 10 yards, while the Renegades played a clean game with zero penalties.

With this playoff win, Travis Washington's squad moves on to the next playoff round, keeping their championship hopes alive. The Renegades face elimination after a scoreless effort that underscores the challenge ahead if they hope to extend their season.
