Denver's Gold secured a commanding 48-6 victory over the VooDoo on August 27 in a preseason Week 3 matchup at home. The game featured strong offensive and defensive performances by the Gold, led by head coach Robert Tovar.

Gold struck first early in the game, scoring a touchdown on a 39-yard pass from quarterback Hale Merrie to tight end Dez Moines at 9:21 in the first quarter. The extra point by kicker Keith Estep was good, putting Denver ahead 7-0. VooDoo responded with a 25-yard field goal by Michael Thomas at 5:46 to cut the lead to 7-3.

Gold added another field goal by Estep from 24 yards late in the first quarter, increasing the advantage to 10-3. The second quarter saw a combined six successful field goals, with Estep converting twice for Gold and Thomas connecting once for VooDoo. From there, the Gold offense continued to drive effectively, accumulating 404 passing yards and three passing touchdowns from Merrie. He completed 32 of 58 attempts but also threw two interceptions. On the ground, the Gold rushed 25 times for 125 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Wide receiver Jimmy Jinx contributed significantly with 119 receiving yards and two rushing touchdowns. Tight end Dez Moines chipped in with 59 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown. Wide receiver Stick Opshun added 74 receiving yards.

Defensively, Gold recorded four sacks, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The team limited VooDoo's rushing game to zero yards on 17 carries. VooDoo quarterback Carl Diaz completed 22 of 40 passes for 177 yards but failed to throw a touchdown and had two interceptions himself.

Kicker Keith Estep was perfect on four field goal attempts and made all extra points, while VooDoo's Michael Thomas made two of three field goals.

In terms of penalties, Gold was called twice for 12 yards while VooDoo incurred four penalties for 26 yards. Neither team converted on third downs, as no attempts were recorded.
