The Renegades established control early, with their first points coming just over two minutes into the second quarter. Quarterback John Rice connected with William Robinson on a 10-yard touchdown pass, capped by Gregg Zavala's successful extra point, putting Orlando ahead 7-0. They extended the lead before halftime when running back George Porter ran 13 yards for a touchdown with 2:20 left in the second quarter, followed again by a Zavala extra point, moving the score to 14-0.

Orlando added a 33-yard field goal by Zavala early in the third quarter. Rice and Robinson combined again later in the quarter for another touchdown, with Rice completing a 5-yard pass to Robinson at 3:23, increasing the lead to 24-0.

Porter was a key offensive asset, rushing for 119 yards and scoring a touchdown, along with 20 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. Bill Minks contributed 95 rushing yards and 33 receiving yards, supporting the dominant ground attack. Rice finished with 114 passing yards and two touchdowns, completing 22 of 24 pass attempts.

Defensively, the Renegades pressured the Showboats effectively, recording four sacks. Earl Stillwell led the pass rush with two sacks, while John Ryder forced a critical fumble recovered by the defense. The Showboats managed only a single field goal from Harvey Holcomb, despite 27 pass attempts from quarterback Clifford Martinez, who completed 12 passes for 70 yards and threw two interceptions.

The Showboats' offense struggled to gain momentum, accumulating just 101 passing yards and 24 rushing yards. Memphis failed to convert on any third downs and did not reach the red zone, highlighting the Renegades' defensive control.

Orlando’s special teams also contributed, with Jerome Ramirez consistently delivering deep punts that repeatedly pinned the Showboats deep in their own territory.
