The Gold improved to an unblemished 8-0 record with a commanding 41-10 road victory over the Federals on Sunday in Week 8. Under head coach Robert Tovar, the Gold dominated both sides of the ball, continuing their perfect start to the regular season while the struggling Federals fell to 1-7 under Robert Barnes.

The Federals struck first just 41 seconds into the game as quarterback Jospeh Johnson connected with John Hayes on a 57-yard touchdown pass, giving the home team an early 7-0 lead following Marcos Hilliard's successful extra point. However, the Gold responded swiftly. Kicker Keith Estep's 44-yard field goal at 7:50 in the opening quarter cut the deficit to 7-3. Then with less than a minute left in the first quarter, quarterback Hale Merrie found William Patton for a 9-yard touchdown reception. Estep’s extra point put the Gold ahead 10-7 heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter saw the Gold extend their lead through methodical offensive execution. Merrie threw a 27-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Marshall Bernardi early in the period to make it 17-7, and running back John Riggins III added a rushing touchdown near the half. Estep capped the half by nailing a 49-yard field goal, giving Gold a comfortable 27-7 advantage at halftime.

Gold’s Hale Merrie finished the game with an impressive stat line, completing 45 of 62 passes for 447 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The Gold’s rushing attack complemented the aerial assault with 145 yards and 4 rushing touchdowns, notably contributions from William Patton who rushed for 36 yards and scored once, and Riggins III who ran for 74 yards.

On the defensive side, Gold recorded one sack, forced one fumble which they recovered, and made one interception. Federals’ defense pressured Gold with 3 sacks and forced 3 turnovers but could not capitalize offensively. Federals’ passing game was limited to 150 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Their rushing attack managed only 8 yards with 1 touchdown.

Turnovers were a decisive factor as the Federals committed key fumbles, including William Patton’s early fumble that was recovered by James Espiritu. The Federals also struggled with penalties, being flagged six times for 30 yards compared to the Gold's three penalties for 15 yards.

Sunday's loss deepened the Federals' playoff woes, remaining last in their division at 1-7 while Gold maintains a perfect division record at 4-0 and leads the league in points scored with 340 against just 59 allowed.

The Gold will head into Week 9 looking to maintain their unbeaten streak and solidify their top position in the division, while the Federals aim to halt their losing run in front of their home crowd.
