Denver Gold secured a 31-12 victory over Bell on Sunday, extending their regular season record to 13-1 and maintaining their position atop the division standings. Under head coach Robert Tovar, Gold showcased efficient offensive execution combined with key defensive plays. Bell, led by James Pearce, fell to 8-6 and remain outside of playoff clinching scenarios.

The game began with an early turnover as Gold quarterback Hale Merrie's pass was intercepted by Bell's J.J. Battle on the opening drive. Bell converted their resulting possession into an early lead with a 29-yard field goal from Reynaldo Paris at 12:19 in the first quarter, putting Bell up 3-0.

Gold quickly responded with a 4-yard touchdown pass from Merrie to tight end Randal Crandall at 7:18, followed by a successful extra point from Keith Estep, giving Gold a 7-3 lead. Merrie threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, completing 24 of 39 passes. Running back John Riggins III added 87 rushing yards, complementing a ground game that totaled 205 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Bell struggled offensively to sustain drives, notably on special teams with several punts but could not convert these into substantial scoring beyond their initial field goal and a third-quarter field goal by Paris that cut the deficit to 7-6. Quarterback Eduardo Hooker finished with 211 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Gold extended their lead in the second half with a 39-yard field goal by Estep early in the third quarter. Merrie connected with wide receiver Stick Opshun for a 17-yard touchdown with 1:58 left in the period, bringing the score to 17-6 after the extra point.

Estep later added a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to push the margin to 20-6. Bell's offense did not manage to score a touchdown, turning to field goals for their only points after the first quarter. Bell running back Paul Homan recorded a rushing touchdown but that was not enough to narrow the score significantly.

Gold's offensive balance was clear with contributions from running backs including Mason Jahr, who gained 54 rushing yards and 75 receiving yards, and receivers Jimmy Jinx, who had 60 receiving yards and a rushing touchdown, and Randal Crandall, who also scored a rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Gold recorded one interception and one sack while limiting Bell’s rushing attack to just 30 yards on 17 carries. Bell's single interception and forced fumble were insufficient to overcome Gold's scoring output.

The victory assures Gold’s continued dominance in the division heading into the final stages of the regular season, keeping them on pace with a strong record of 13-1 and a 4-1 division record. Bell remains third in the division at 8-6 with a 2-3 mark in division play.

With this win, Robert Tovar's team clinched their division, a significant milestone as they prepare for the postseason push. The Gold will look to continue this momentum and maintain their high offensive and defensive standards in upcoming matchups.
