Wow, where did you get that map? It may exaggerate Dayton's negatives, but, in many places, that is SPOT ON.
Having said that, overall, I love living in Dayton. The economy may be entirely dependent on the Air Force, but the economic outlook here is far superior to anyplace in Cleveland/Akron/Canton/Youngstown, where I previously lived. Plenty of culture, parks, etc. Tons of new development downtown. A minor league baseball team that sells out every game, two NCAA Division I basketball programs, and pro sports are only an hour away. It's not heaven, but you could do a lot worse than Dayton.
I just googled Dayton map and this was one of the options, though it's probably because I look at Judgemental Maps on Facebook. They have one for most major cities and even minor ones like Dayton.
I've never lived anywhere else and not sure I want to. I like the small big-town atmosphere, or is it a big small-town atmosphere? Our cost of living is pretty low and we don't have traffic jams as long as you stay off the highway at rush hour, and even those are lame unless there is an accident. There are a lot of diverse things to do in the Dayton area, and what we don't have, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indy, and Cleveland are all within driving distance.
I'm guessing every city has negatives to living there and it's all about what you are willing to put up with.
