ATTN: EVERYONE...Regarding the new UI

If you have yet to read JDB's May update, please read it soon https://usflwfl.myfootballnow.com/community/1/7634?page=1#46184.

In the near future we'll be able to decide which interface to use, the new one or the old, or "legacy" UI. I have no further information other than what's in the May update, but I plan on doing a league wide poll to see which UI we'll use.

Between now and then, please take a little time and think which one you'd like to use. Should be an interesting vote.

Old - Legacy UI.

We need more information before we can decide but based on JDB's comments, I may not even have a vote.

I know there are those against exploit ball but I don't think the answer is to eliminate any position changes at all. JDB's player creation is ****, we've all seen the draft classes. I don't want to be forced to keep a guy as a DE with no pass rush even though he has LB coverage skills.

We'll wait and see what the end result is, but if it goes the direction I think it's going, we'll use the legacy UI and not even have a vote.

I'm all for the change, any change at this point would be refreshing. As much as I love MFN...it's become stale and repetitive.

If actual player weights dictate position availability then many exploits will get shut down and maybe this Sim gets back to an actual roster management Sim which is what I joined for in the first place.

If his first attempt has issues then the only way to find them and get them fixed in to use them and report them. Sure it might take years to fix but hey that's what we already deal with.

It really feels like this Sim is so broken already that any change is better then holding on to what it already is.

I would love to be forced to use real DT, DE, LB, FB & TEs if in the end we can get some plays fixed too.

My interpretation of what JDB said about the new depth chart is that you won't be able to put a CB into the depth chart at DE/DT based on player physical weight.

As long as you can change a players position...i.e. TE to RB or LB to CB then it's all about the player getting "to weight" before he can play at the position.

This isn't much different from what I implemented in several of my leagues except now the league admin doesn't have to check every team for compliance.

You make a drafted TE a RB and he needs to lose 20 pounds or so he can play at RB and the change will be he can no longer play TE plus no more WR at TE which is probably the biggest current exploit in the game.

It will be interesting to see what the qualifying weights are to play TE, DE or LB. I'm assuming he uses the current minimums of 240 for TE, 265 for DE and 237 for LB but I will be asking JDB if that's the case once the new UI is implemented.

JDB does make it sound like you can't change a players position depending on their weight which would be similar to what we have now but worse IMO. Excited for change regardless of whether it's good or not, I know the forums will be entertaining enough

That's the way I read it as well. If the draft isn't "fixed" (player creation), then it's going to be an absolute nightmare going after and even finding usable players. It almost, maybe, might be okay if we could run anything other than M2M defenses and WC-ish style offenses. With so little flavor in play styles, the already thin FA market is going to totally dry up.

Switching positions was OUR work-around to the terrible player creation. Now that's going away. Add a freaking floor to player stats. No college corner or WR coming out should be below 70 speed. No defensive player coming out should have 15 tackling. Etc., and so on...

Yeah, he will make it very taut. Question is how nasty does he get? Will a center only be a center, a DE only DE? Time will be needed to position switch and decide how to deal with contracts. If he comes on one morning and a c is a c and a de is a de with no wiggle or I can't adjust a cb to not get a 100 million dead cap hit I will leave the game.

I have already written out my 2nd league of 6 new UI offensive game plan. Good luck getting anything done 243 v. 205 or 191 / 217 v. 191 or 205 lbs when passing from out of te or rb.
