Two divisions have been clinched already, as have 6 total playoff spots. The New Orleans VooDoo (10-2) have clinched the South while the Orlando Renegades (10-2) have clinched the Southeast. Joining them in the playoffs, according to MFN are the Pittsburgh Maulers (12-0), Baltimore Stars (10-2), Philadelphia Bell (10-2), and the Houston Gamblers (10-2).
Joining that group soon should be the Portland Storm (10-2) and Oklahoma Outlaws (10-2).
In the American Conference, it's a tight wildcard race with 3 teams at 7-5 fighting for 2 spots. One of San Jose, Memphis, or Michigan will miss the playoffs unless Oklahoma or Houston totally collapse down the stretch. As of today, MFN lists Memphis as the odd team out.
American ConferencePacificHonolulu 9-3
San Jose 7-5
Los Angeles 4-8
Southern California 1-11
Honolulu got off to a 6-0 start, then cooled off a bit as their schedule stiffened. Their remaining opponents are a combined 30-18 as they finish with San Jose, New Jersey, Houston and LA. San Jose is hanging around in the wildcard chase and they still can win the division, especially if they beat Honolulu tomorrow night. Following that showdown, the SaberCats finish with Southern California, Boston, and Memphis, which could be a de facto playoff game.
Los Angeles isn't officially eliminated yet, but they are 3 games out of the 7th seed with 4 to play. Southern California has been eliminated.
WestPortland 10-2
Oakland 6-6
Arizona 2-10
Denver 1-11
Portland is on the verge of winning the West as all they need is 1 more win or 1 more Oakland loss. The Storm's next game is against Arizona and if they take care of business, they'll win the division again. Oakland is 1 game out of the 7th seed but 3 of their last 4 games are against teams in the playoff chase: Memphis, Chicago, and Portland.
Arizona and Denver have been eliminated.
SouthwestHouston 10-2
Oklahoma 10-2
Memphis 7-5
San Antonio 4-8
MFN gives Houston the current tiebreaker, likely due to a 4-1 division record as the Gamblers and Outlaws split. Houston has also clinched a playoff spot while Oklahoma has not. Both teams only face 1 team with a winning record down the stretch so it's probably safe to assume Oklahoma will punch their ticket soon and the division winner will be selected by a tiebreaker.
Memphis is still technically alive for the division but most likely they need to focus on staying a wildcard. It won't be easy as their last 4 games are against Oakland (6-6), New Orleans (10-2), Oklahoma (10-2), and San Jose (7-5).
San Antonio is still alive but they need to run the table and get lots of help.
MidwestChicago 9-3
Michigan 7-5
Detroit 3-9
Cleveland 3-9
Chicago has a 2 game lead with 4 to play, including a Week 16 game at Michigan. Speaking of Michigan, they are the current 6th seed. Chicago's remaining opponents have a combined 24-24 record, Michigan's 23-25.
Detroit and Cleveland have been eliminated.
