Speaking of Los Angeles, I noticed their injury list while prepping for my playoff preview post. They have 13 players banged up and only 4 are probable. They have 5 questionable players, 3 doubtful and 1 Out. The Express are going to have a tough time trying to make this Hellbringer's last game here.
Other observations:
CJ and Smirt face off in the wildcard round. I'm in some leagues with them and it seems they almost always end up facing each other in the playoffs. This time they get it out of the way early.
Charlotte is making their 2nd consecutive playoff appearance after not making it the first 23 seasons.
Oklahoma and Washington return to the playoffs after a 1 year absence.
Jacksonville is making their first playoff appearance since 1987.
Georgia is making their first playoff appearance since 1980.
New Jersey has the most playoff wins (32) of any team in the league. Houston is second (31), but has lost just 9 times compared to the Generals 17 playoff losses.
We have 4 teams in the playoffs that are undefeated in the World Bowl (0-0 doesn't count): Houston (7-0), Memphis (5-0), Los Angeles (1-0), and Florida (1-0)
New Jersey has been to the most World Bowls, going to 8 winning 3.
New Jersey's 5 World Bowl losses tie them with Washington (0-5) for the most
The 2 teams with BYEs are also the top 2 offensive and defensive teams in the league. New Jersey ranked 1st in total offense and defense while Portland was ranked #2 in both. As such, they should be considered heavy favorites to have a World Bowl rematch.
There has only been 1 other World Bowl rematch from the previous year and that was World Bowls XXI and XXII when Houston beat Washington in both.
Overall we have had 5 World Bowl rematches. Houston has beat New Jersey 3 times (2 rematches) and Washington twice. Memphis has also beat New Jersey and Washington twice each.
