Arizona is tanking now but did compete in the 1st half of the season.
Week 1
Storm 17 Wranglers 0
Arizona is under a massive rebuild after an aggressive free agency/draft but they get tested right out of the gate, facing our defending champs Portland. The Storm defense picked up right where they left off last season, shutting out the Wranglers and holding them to just 104 yards. Portland's offense wasn't great today, but they did more than enough to win the game, led by Melvin Driggers' 227 passing yards and 2 TDs. The Storm used a RBBC that ran for 142 yards and the receiving stats were spread out as well. The Wranglers might have been shutout, but they didn't turn the ball over and they only allowed 17 points. Last season, Arizona allowed Portland to score 55 the first time and 31 in the rematch, so progress at least.
Week 5
Express 12 Wranglers 6
Arizona scored first and last in this kicking contest, but Los Angeles scored 4 FGs in between to win the game 12-6 over the Wranglers. Arizona converted 7/16 3rd downs and held the Express to 1/11 but 2 late INTs did not help the cause. Los Angeles QB David Tavarez completed 23/26 for 237 yards with 0 TD and 0 INT.
Week 8
Invaders 7 Wranglers 0
This was probably Arizona's best game of the season as the Wranglers held Oakland to 217 total yards, 2/14 on 3rd downs and sacking Andrew Moreno 3 times. Offensively they only had 198 yards, converting 2/16 3rd downs, but more importantly they did not turn the ball over and allowed just 1 sack. Baby steps. Late in the 3rd, Moreno found Nelson Martinez for a 43 yard TD which proved to be the only points of the game as Oakland wins 7-0. Martinez finished with 4 catches, 125 yards and that TD.
Week 9
Showboats 10 Wranglers 3
Arizona might be winless now, but the team is playing much better, especially on defense. They have only given up 33 points the last 3 weeks, and while Oakland is also struggling offensively, they held Denver to 16 and Memphis to 10 and those teams average more than 20 ppg. Unfortunately for the Wranglers, their offense only scores 3 points a game and struggles to move the ball. This game was tied at 3 after the first quarter and Norman Maldonado's 2nd qtr 72 yard TD pass to Mark Glenn stood up, as Memphis escapes with a narrow 10-3 win. Arizona RB Elias Williams didn't find much running room but he did gain 122 yards on 4 receptions, and looks like a potential player to build an offense around.
