I feel for you, TB.
My wife and I had it around Thanksgiving. Mine was a runny nose and extreme fatigue for a couple of days. The wife's was a full on flu-like sickness. Took her 2-1/2 weeks (we are in our 40's). She said the worst part was you would begin to feel better, then take a turn and feel worse than before. My mom (80's) had it for over a month. The thing that makes this CV different is the duration. You are just so sick for so long. It takes a toll.
I take Vitamin C & D every morning. I was on that regimen when I got sick and feel like it could be the reason I got off so easy, symptom-wise. But who knows.
The big thing that got my wife and mom was dehydration. You HAVE to make yourself drink plenty of fluids. Remember this is a flu and there is no "cure". It just has to run its course.
Hope you feel better soon, TB.
