I was just offering my honest opinion, while I have many holes as an owner and I am far from the best out there. I am sort of a quarterback whisperer.
I've had incredible success throughout all my leagues developing QBs. I have the Alltime leading passer in the XFL and Quick and the Dead both entering season 15. The 2nd Alltime leading passer in World and Champions both entering season 9 and I'm 14 alltime passing in the USFL which is entering its 19th season (my 9th). I'm currently on pace to reach either #1 or #2 depending on when Tony Dean retires.
My success has hinged on having QBs with near 100 pass accuracy, field of vision, look off defense and intelligence.
Speed and scramble are 5th and 6th
Arm strength, avoid fumble, pass release, hard count are nearly meaningless to me. Tony Dean has 66 arm strength and 34 avoid fumble. He consistently is top 3 in passing yards and always near the top in TDs, completion percentage, yards per attempt and passer rating. He has 5 career fumbles during 8,343 snaps.
I have no doubt who you are selecting is a 1st round pick, my opinion is he isnt the #1 overall pick because (like you said) he can never be elite and he definately isn't worth 3 1st round picks plus a 2nd. Only Henderson at QB has a chance to become elite.
I was just offering my educated opinion since you posted who you were taking and I assumed you wanted honest feedback.
On the plus side, he will have 100 pass accuracy and be ready week 1 boom or bust.
Good luck with your pick
I wasn't criticising you CJ, I'm well aware of your record and your success with QB's. QB is a strange position in MFN, certainly the most complex to weight. I'm happy with my choice (to be confirmed) and appreciate everyone taking the time to advise. In my opinion, there is not enough discussion as to what to look for in a player.
I do have a good insight into what is coming with the next version of the game as the three leagues I currently admin have all switched to BETA already. With sacks on the rise massively (currently slowing the release to the masses as they are too high now), the sacks make avoid fumble a more relevant stat - so I'm future-proofing to a certain extent.
I see Howard as a good 0.4.5 QB but will be better in 0.4.6 - but all that could change at the tap of a keystroke if JDB brings sacks back to the level of 0.4.5
