1992 Rule Change (DL must be 266 lbs)

The fact we're still discussing LB playing DL tells me the McKeon rule isn't quite as effective as I had hoped. Starting with the 1992 season, all of your defensive lineman must weight a minimum of 266 pounds.

One way or another we will get back to having fun discussions and game play rather than discussing what the latest loophole is.

Is this all that's happening right now?

If you isolate my defensive line set I've got DEs, DTs and generic LBs as depth I've shifted over to use in both the LB and DE/DT areas. I'm aligned as about as non-exploit as possible here!

You flood FA offers and get a line of tin soldiers at the position. Generic guys but it's not hard.

Yes, as of now this is the only thing changing for next year. I announced this early because Seth said he needed time to beef up his DL playing LBers. Next season those generic LB of yours will need to weigh 266 lbs, even as depth pieces.

The rest of it depends on the discussion and how long it might take teams to comply.

This rule also applies to the front 4 positions on punt blocks.

I thaught we wanted to back to real Football.
How many 300 pound run stuffing DTs do you see covering punts in real live. Real Live ST to a huge part are made of Backup LB, Backs and TEs. Nobody risks his star DE to injury covering punts

I have many very fast LBs across MFN and they do not reach the Punter. Period. However, they have a chance to run back and block for the Punt Return. I cannot eaven use TEs for that after this rule change

This change does nothing good, but punishes people

Greg, would you please think about using 243 lbs as the threshold?

This would allow using standard FB, MLB and TE for the punt return team. Would also be an incentive to convert some of those WLB to MLBs

Real life NFL has little to do with MFN because this is a code issue within the game. Real life NFL doesn't have any teams with 0 TE on the roster, or 0 RB like we have in USFL so the realism issue went away long ago.

If the code of the game allowed the speedy small guys to actually be blockable, I wouldn't care who played where.

This is the front 4 only

You have 7 other players at gunner who can be TEs, QBs, RBs , Ks or whoever else you want. The rule is to limit the 230 89 speed 88 acceleration from blowing up punts on a regular basis.

Just because you haven't had success with them doesn't mean it hasn't been done successfully throughout MFN...It has at a rate of nearly 1 per game.

If you want more then my opinion, ask Smirt, Tarquinthedark, Setherick and Infinity. Its about where you play them at ST RUSHER.

I pull up the punt return screen and over-ride. Others know that it's something like ST Rusher #3 through 5 which slot into the attack positions. (the two wings spots on the front four)

It's more rare, however, Lars caught me with a singular usage LB on a punt block and I want to say somewhere along the way Pern got me with a TE. But, yeah, if you streamline a TE or LB with a sole purpose and no other usage but to punt block - they can come in fresh and get you off timeouts or other breaks within the action for rest spots. (early in the game, penalty calls, time outs and if a couple of med/long pass sacks occur before the punt) This is way rarer than the 191 lb. CB zip lining in.

It needs a perfect storm to hit or an 88 acceleration LB barely used.

Yes the rule only covers the front 4. You can use whatever position you want for the other 7 spots. All I'm trying to do is eliminate the exploit.
