I'm trying to figure out what to do with Alton Pastor. https://usflwfl.myfootballnow.com/player/4049 I've ran him a full season at LB, then moved to DE hoping for some good pass rush. This season I can't get any hurries out of him. Anyone have some idea's how to make him productive?

It's likely a 0.4.3 problem as this new version has neutered some of my pass rushers in several leagues. Your guy has good speed, acceleration, strength and pass rush so idk why he's not getting pressure.

Maybe he's just been faced with elite tackles who don't give up sacks? Have you tried changing defensive plays? Maybe switch him from one side of the defense to the other, or switch personnel around him.

If there is a logical explanation for the lack of pass rush, I'd love to see it.

That's James Lockette, my soon to be HOF defensive end. His ratings are not as strong as Pastor's, yet he still terrorizes opposing QB's.

Honestly, idk why, if I did I would say so. The variables between the two are they face different teams, so it's quite possible Lockette faces much softer lineman, and we likely use many different defensive plays so maybe some different plays unleashes Pastor.

He has been injured three times already this season, so I would guess that has limited his effectiveness somewhat.

I've also noticed different playbooks bring pressure from different places and not just the plays. One playbook DTs were the sack masters another DEs and another few sacks but stopped the run and got more picks.

If you want sacks, play him at LDE. If you want all around stats, play him at RDE.

DEs are reversed in the game because strong side running is so ineffective that most owners don't try it. So you want your best run stopper on the weak side, and your best pass rusher on the strong side. LDEs get a lot of sacks because RTs tend to be an owners worst OL (unless you are purposely playing a pass blocker there) and TEs don't stay in and block (and when they do they don't block the DE most of the time).

Gonna test that in Die Hards tonight. My RDE Clinton Reach has 8 sacks 19 hurries while LDE Q.B. Sacker has 6 of each thru 7 games. I switched sides so tonight Reach is LDE, Sacker RDE. Hopefully Reach can have a 4 sack game and take down the 7-0 Jets.

Inconclusive results. It's just 1 game for 1 team, but both players had 3 hurries and the 1 sack went to Q.B. Sacker. I won the game though 29-9 and my pass defense as a whole played well.
