Wildcard Weekend is complete and we're down to the final 8.

Honolulu Hawaiians 42 Denver Gold 14

The game started out great for Denver as Kevin Hillman took the opening kickoff 108 yards for an instant 7-0 lead. Victor Russell was unfazed as he led Honolulu to 35 consecutive points over the next 3+ quarters to put the game away. Russell threw 3 TD passes in that span, and 4 overall as he completed 34/40 for 334 yards. Ali Blevins caught 10 passes for 161 yards and 2 TDs while Richard Klein caught 9 for 116 yards. Donald Fleming only caught 3 for 13 yards but 2 catches resulted in TDs.Denver QB Bernard Smith was under pressure all game, taking 12 sacks. Doyle Miller had 5 sacks while William Frasier and Dana Nelson had 3 each.

Oklahoma Outlaws 50 Michigan Panthers 36

Wow, what a game. These teams battled back and forth, punching and counter punching until Oklahoma pulled away a bit late in the 4th to advance. This recap might take awhile.

Oklahoma got the ball first and went three and out while Michigan turned it over on downs on their first possession. Oklahoma QB Sam Axe got the Outlaws on the board on their next possession with an 18 yard TD pass to Michael Hagler. Michigan struck back quick as Willie Reddish found William Barrett for a 79 yard catch and run TD to tie the game at 7. Sam Axe and Michael Hagler connected again, this time on an 3 yard TD to give the Outlaws the lead again.

The score was 14-7 Oklahoma after 1 quarter and neither team scored in the 2nd so it was also the halftime score. The Outlaws had a chance at a FG after a Willie Reddish INT but the kick was no good.

Michigan got the ball to start the second half and they punted while Sam Axe threw a TD pass to Donald Ramirez. The XP was no good so the score was now 20-7 Oklahoma. A couple possessions later, Willie Reddish found William Barrett with a 37 yard TD pass to cut the lead to 20-14. Sam Axe wasted little time in driving the Outlaws down the field and his 4th TD pass of the game gave the Outlaws a 27-14 lead. Michigan would drive for a FG and the 3rd qtr would end with Oklahoma leading 27-17.

On the first play of the 4th, Sam Axe was intercepted by Michigan's Christopher Tinker, who took it 26 yards for a Pick Six. Willie Reddish found William Barrett for the 2 point conversion and now Michigan was within 27-25. On Oklahoma's next drive Axe was intercepted again but a flag for pass interference nullified that. Axe continued the drive, eventually finding Domenic Winstead for a 9 yard TD and the XP pushed the score to 34-25 Outlaws. Willie Reddish then found William Barrett yet again, this time for a 49 yard TD and Reddish found Alvin Eckenrode for the 2 point conversion, making the score 34-33 Oklahoma.

Oklahoma was then forced to punt, pinning Michigan at their 6 with 5:50 to play. What happened next was the keys of the game. Ralph Magallanes sacked Willie Reddish in the end zone for a safety and a 36-33 lead. Gary Kahn then returned the ensuing free kick 89 yards for a score and a 1 point game became a 43-33 Oklahoma lead very quickly. From there, Michigan turned it over on downs while Sam Axe found Domenic Winstead for another TD to push the lead to 50-33. Michigan would drive down to the Oklahoma 3 yard line but opted for a FG on 4th and goal. The kick was good and they recovered the onside kick, but that was it for the scoring. Michigan turned it over on downs while Sam Axe kneeled down 3 times to seal the win.

Willie Reddish completed 28/49, 452 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, and 5 sacks taken. William Barrett caught 7 for 179 yards and 3 TDs. Sam Axe completed 29/41, 382 yards, 6 TDs, 1 INT and 2 sacks taken. Domenic Winstead caught 12 for 189 yards and 2 scores and Michael Hagler chipped in with 2 TD catches as well.

I'd love to keep going in one post but the stupid glitch is back. I'm not losing what I've already typed.

This glitch is getting worse. I can continue if I don't make anything bold type, but since I want the scores in bold, I have to keep stopping my progress. This is one of the reasons I didn't write as much as past seasons, this glitch makes me angry and stressed. Idk if it's my computers fault or something to do with the new UI JDB is working on but this is quite aggravating.

From cut and paste from the page where the submit button doesn't work...

OK let's continue and see how far I can get.

San Jose SaberCats 25 Houston Gamblers 16

San Jose got the ball first and kept it for nearly 10 minutes as they embarked on a 16 play, 75 yard TD drive. Myron Dustin threw to Lynn McLaurin for a 5 yard TD pass to end the drive and take a 7-0 lead (yes, 7-0, they did not go for 2). Houston finally got the ball and drove for a FG to make the score 7-3 after 1.

A few punts later Houston had the ball and Dale Baber threw a 10 yard TD pass to Under Taker for a 10-7 Houston lead. San Jose would punt before Dale Baber and Myron Dustin traded INTs, leading to a Houston FG and a 13-7 Gamblers halftime lead.

Houston got the ball to start the 3rd and Baber was intercepted again. Myron Dustin then threw the SaberCats down the field, tying the score on a 6 yard TD pass to Charles Tillman. Ken Bench made the XP to give the SaberCats a 14-13 lead. Dale Baber then threw yet another INT but it didn't lead to San Jose points as they punted. Houston punted it back and San Jose was on the cusp of another score as the 3rd qtr came to an end. Myron Dustin was sacked by Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, fumbled, and Valentine recovered for the Gamblers.

The 4th qtr started with San Jose leading 14-13 but Houston's Tom Overton's 30 yard FG gave Houston a 16-14 lead with under 10 minutes to play. Charles Tillman then ripped off a 71 yard run, scoring the eventual game winning TD. At the time it gave San Jose a 20-16 lead. Myron Dustin found Perry Nelson for 2 points to extend the lead to 22-16. Houston would have 3 more chances for the tying TD but their drives ended INT, INT, turnover on downs. San Jose then added a FG to extend the lead to 25-16 and that was it as San Jose advances.

Snake Roberts of Houston ran for 142 yards as the stat leader of the game. Dale Baber threw 5 INTs while San Jose spread the ball around and had no stat lines of note

New Jersey Generals 19 Orlando Renegades 13

For a quarter and a half, this was a field position game. With 6:52 left in the first half, Orlando's Cedrick Santana had a 6 yard TD run and the XP gave the Renegades a 7-0 lead. Orlando would add a FG on their next drive to extend the lead to 10-0. New Jersey was able to get a FG from Howie "Stump" Schwab just before halftime to make the score 7-3 Orlando at the half.

New Jersey got the ball to start the 3rd and they went on a 13 play, 9 minute FG drive to cut the lead to 10-6. Orlando went three and out, then New Jersey went on a 10 play, 5 minute FG drive to cut the lead to 10-9. The Generals had the ball for all but 3 plays and a punt in the quarter.

Orlando started the 4th with a 5 minute FG drive, making the score 13-9 and giving their defense a much needed rest. New Jersey faced a 4th down at the Orlando 39 with 5 minutes to play and opted to punt instead of try a long FG. The punt pinned the Renegades at the 5 and 2 plays later, Howard Wolowitz intercepted Michael Smith to give the Generals an instant red zone possession. Jesse Pinkman's 3 yard TD run with 1:54 to play gave New Jersey a 15-13 lead and the XP made it 16-13. Orlando then went three and out, New Jersey added a FG and Howard Wolowitz intercepted Michael Smith again to seal the win for the Generals.

Jacksonville Bulls 26 Washington Federals 10

Washington got the ball first and punted, pinning Jacksonville at their own 5. William Barron led a 12 play FG drive as Jacksonville takes a 3-0 lead. Washington punted again and Jacksonville went on a 10 play FG drive for a 6-0 lead early in the 2nd. Several punts later, Washington got a 3 yard TD run from Norman Thomas with the XP giving the Federals a 7-6 lead. James Ford would later lose a fumble in the final minute of the half, leading to a Jacksonville FG and a 9-7 halftime lead for the Bulls.

Jacksonville got the ball to start the 3rd and had a 9 play FG drive for a 12-7 lead. Michael Erickson threw an INT on the next drive for Washington and the Bulls turned that into a William Barron 18 yard TD pass to Marion Stroup. The XP was good for a 19-7 Bulls lead. A couple drives later, Erickson lost a fumble on a sack, leading to a William Barron 10 yard TD pass to Jason Cruise. Jacksonville now led 26-7 and the rest of the game saw just a Washington FG as the Bulls win 26-10 to advance.

New Orleans VooDoo 22 Philadelphia Bell 7

This game started out as a defensive struggle on both sides. New Orleans forced a punt on all of Philadelphia's first half possessions that didn't start with 3 seconds left in the half while New Orleans had to settle for 3 Nick Orozco FGs.

Jason Wharton took the second half kickoff 107 yards for a TD to get Philadelphia back in the game at 9-7. The only problem with a possible Bell comeback is that kickoff return went for more yards than the Bell offense generated all game long. New Orleans held the Bell to 101 yards and they only had 2 sacks for -20 yards. Nick Orozco made 2 more FGs in the second half and James Wright capped the scoring with a 21 yard TD pass to Charles Grogan. Wright finished 31/55, 332 yards, 1 TD, 1 INt and Nicholas Reyes caught 8 for 104 yards. Gerald Waldon had a combined 139 yards, with 90 coming on the ground.

You could always use notepad for your writeups and then just copy and paste it over with the bold brackets around what you want

The Divisional Round is complete and the home teams all won. Three of the four games were non competitive blowouts while Oklahoma and San Antonio had a battle to the end.

Congratulations to the final 4 teams fighting for spots in World Bowl XXXIX.

San Jose SaberCats 46 Honolulu Hawaiians 10

Honolulu scored first for a 3-0 lead before San Jose scored 28 straight points for a 28-3 lead. The Hawaiians got a TD before the half to make it 28-10 but that's as close as they could get. Lynn McLaurin ran for 132 yards to lead a 6 headed running committee that gained 362 yards and got 2 Alfredo Montoya TD runs. Myron Dustin had an ok game yardage wise but was only asked to throw 23 passes. He completed 15 for 254 yards and 4 TDs, all to different receivers.

Pittsburgh Maulers 47 New Jersey Generals 6

Pittsburgh got out to a 31-0 halftime lead and added another TD in the second half before the Generals got on the scoreboard with a FG. Andrew Paul ran 17 times for 206 yards and a TD and Kenneth Allen added 83. QB Thomas Hampton completed 20/28, 264 yards and 4 TDs. Eugene Williams caught 2 of those TD passes among his 4-122.

New Orleans VooDoo 41 Jacksonville Bulls 10

This game was actually competitive for a half before New Orleans pulled away. Jacksonville scored first with a FG then tied the game at 10 after the VooDoo scored twice. New Orleans scored the only 2nd qtr points for a 17-10 halftime lead.

New Orleans exploded for 24 points in the 3rd to seize control of the game. Jacksonville QB William Barron threw 2 of his 3 INTs in the middle of the VooDoo 3rd qtr run to add fuel to the fire. James Wright finished 27/39, 366 yards and 4 TDs with Nicholas Reyes coming up big, catching 3 of those scores among his 11 for 231 yards. Jacob Becker ran for 120 yards and a TD.

San Antonio Gunslingers 23 Oklahoma Outlaws 20

This was obviously the most competitive game of the four. Oklahoma had a 3-0 lead after 1 quarter that was mainly about establishing field position. San Antonio tried to tie it early in the 2nd but a 52 yard FG went wide right and the score stayed 3-0 Oklahoma. The Outlaws took over on their 42 and Sam Axe completed the drive with a 4 yard TD pass to Domenic Winstead to push the lead to 10-0. Oklahoma forced a punt, then Sam Axe led another TD drive, throwing a 5 yard TD pass to Michael Warner for a 17-0 halftime lead.

San Antonio got the ball to start the second half and George Warner got the Gunslingers on the board with a 46 yard TD pass to Glenn Graham. On the next Oklahoma drive, Patrick Gilbert strip sacked Sam Axe, recovering the fumble himself. Two plays later George Warner found Jessie Anderson for a 24 yard TD pass and the XP made it 17-14 Oklahoma. Sam Axe responded with an 11 play FG drive to extend the Outlaws lead to 20-14.

The 4th quarter started with that 20-14 score and the field position game started again. The Gunslingers were getting the better field position but both teams exchanged some punts. The field finally flipped as Oklahoma pinned San Antonio at their 8 but George Warner led a FG drive to cut the deficit to 20-17. The Gunslingers forced a three and out before Warner led another FG drive that tied the game at 20 inside the 2 minute warning. Oklahoma went three and out again, then punted. San Antonio had the ball on their own 22 in a tie game and 41 seconds to get into FG range. George Warner completed 2 of 3 passes to get the ball down to the Oklahoma 36 where Dennis Lovett nailed the 53 yard FG at the gun to send San Antonio to the conference championship.

Conference Championship Weekend

We had the top 2 seeds against each other in both games, yet neither was very exciting. We had some one score drama in the American Conference but that was a defensive struggle. The other game saw New Orleans control the action and win comfortably despite Pittsburgh getting sort of close early in the 4th.

San Antonio Gunslingers 15 San Jose SaberCats 3

San Jose took an early 3-0 lead after getting great field position after intercepting George Warner. San Antonio responded with a 14 play FG drive to tie the game at 3. From there it was a field position game. San Jose kept having three and outs while San Antonio kicked 2 more FGs for a 9-0 halftime lead.

San Jose drove the ball a little better in the 3rd/early 4th but still had to keep punting. San Antonio's offense didn't do much in the second half, adding a pair of late FGs to cap off the scoring.Eric Rodriguez ran for 106 yards and Dennis Lovett made all 5 FGs as San Antonio advances to their second World Bowl.

New Orleans VooDoo 29 Pittsburgh Maulers 8

This game was somewhat similar to the first game except we had some TDs here. Pittsburgh had trouble moving the ball in the first half and New Orleans got the better of the field position. It didn't pay off very well in the first half as they managed to make just 1 of 2 FG tries for a 3-0 lead at the break.

The field position game kept going the VooDoo's way in the 3rd and the offense finally broke through with a pair of TDs. Gerald Waldon had a short TD run in the 3rd qtr while Howard Becker led off the 4th with a short TD run of his own for a 17-0 New Orleans lead. Thomas Hampton got Pittsburgh closer with a 68 yard TD to Eugene Williams and a Vic Mackey 2 point run made the score 17-8.

The New Orleans defense shut down the Maulers offense the rest of the game and the VooDoo closed out the scoring with a TD and 2 FGs, giving them 19 4th qtr points in the 29-8 win that sends them to their 4th World Bowl in 5 seasons.
