Tampa Stadium was host to World Bowl XXXVI between the New Orleans VooDoo and the Oklahoma Outlaws. They were both playing for their 3rd World Bowl title with New Orleans also looking to complete the 5th perfect season in league history.
Oklahoma got the ball first but it was New Orleans scoring first with a 34 yard FG on the VooDoo's 2nd drive for a 3-0 lead after a quarter. Kenneth Anderson led a 14 play, 66 yard TD drive that ended with a TD pass to Patrick Molina and a 10-7 lead in the 2nd qtr. Raymond Settles would answer with a 35 yard TD pass to Sebastian Goode to pull within 10-7 with about 8 minutes until halftime. Kenneth Anderson led New Orleans on another long, time consuming 15 play, 75 yard TD drive that took 6:44. Anderson finished the drive with a 14 yard TD pass to James Peterson for a 17-7 halftime lead.
New Orleans got the ball to start the 3rd qtr but the Oklahoma defense did their job, forcing a punt. Raymond Settles got Oklahoma down to the New Orleans 1 yard line before Gary Kahn's 1 yard TD run ended the 9 play, 72 yard drive. Oklahoma was now within 17-13 because the XP was wide right. Kenneth Anderson took the momentum right back with a 66 yard TD pass to Michael Ferrell, upping the VooDoo lead to 24-13. The teams then exchanged punts before Settles was intercepted late in the quarter.
We would go to the 4th qtr with New Orleans leading 24-13 with the ball and a Mark Adams FG pushed the lead to 27-13 on the first play of the 4th. The next 2 drives for each team ended with punts, then Oklahoma turned it over on downs with a little more than 5 minutes on the clock. New Orleans would punt, pinning the Outlaws inside the 20, where they would turn it over on downs again. Michael Kreuger's 9 yard TD run and ensuing XP pushed the lead to 34-13 approaching the 2 minute warning. Raymond Settles would drive Oklahoma down the field, connecting with Donald Ramirez for an 8 yard TD but it was too little, too late. The onside kick failed and New Orleans bled most of the clock, leaving enough time for Oklahoma to run one play down 2 TDs.
Kenneth Anderson finished 26/40, 250 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs while Michael Ferrell caught 4 for 100 yards and a TD, adding 25 yards on the ground. MFN listed Ferrell as it's top player of the game, but after some discussion, the league office decided the World Bowl XXXVI MVP would be Kenneth Anderson. As is tradition, Anderson gets a brand new 2010 Chevy Corvette. Hopefully he won't go drag racing like NFL WR Rashee Rice.
