World Bowl XXXIIIOklahoma Outlaws 24 Pittsburgh Maulers 21Oklahoma got the ball first and went three and out while Brian White drove Pittsburgh into Outlaw territory before throwing an interception to John Speers. Oklahoma and Raymond Settles couldn't take advantage as they had another three and out. Brian White again drove Pittsburgh into Outlaw territory but this time he sealed the deal with an 8 yard TD pass to Scott Peachey for a 7-0 lead. Each team then had a three and out before the 1st quarter ended.
Oklahoma had another short drive as we enter quarter number 2 but this short drive tied the game when Settles found Adam "Not Pacman" Jones for an 11 yard TD pass. Fast forward to the middle of the quarter when Brian White threw another interception, this one to Pablo Glass who almost had a Pick Six. As it was, he was pushed out of bounds at the Maulers 4, leading to a 3 yard TD run by Steven McCurdy to give Oklahoma a 14-7 lead.
Pittsburgh would answer, taking over with 5:21 left in the half they went on a 12 play, 80 yard TD drive that took 4:44 off the clock. Brian White found Patrick Howard for a 29 yard TD and the first half would end 14-14.
The 3rd quarter started out as a field position war with Pittsburgh being pinned at their 5 yard line following a punt. The Maulers went three and out, giving Oklahoma the ball near midfield after their punt. Raymond Settles drove the Outlaws to a first and 10 at the Pittsburgh 12 but three straight completions for negative yards forced a Samuel Diaz FG attempt which was good from 42 yards out, giving Oklahoma a 17-14 lead.
Oklahoma had the ball again as the 3rd quarter turned into the 4th and Settles got the Outlaws inside the red zone again with a 1st and 10 from the 16. This time Settles' passes went forward and Arthur Reina caught a 10 yard TD pass as Oklahoma takes a 24-14 lead early in the 4th. Midway through the 4th, Matthew Goebel had a 1 yard TD run for Pittsburgh to cut the lead to 24-21.
The Pittsburgh defense did their job, getting off the field with a three and out as Brian White would have 5:28 to work with. White got the Maulers across midfield, but faced with a 4th and 3 from the 43 they went for it rather than try a 60 yard FG. The 4th down pass fell incomplete and Oklahoma took over on their 43. The Outlaws got 1 first down then punted for a touchback, giving Pittsburgh 1:04 to get into FG range with no timeouts. Three pass completions got them across midfield but the clock ran out and the Oklahoma Outlaws are World Bowl XXXIII Champions.
Raymond Settles was named World Bowl MVP as he completed 19/33, 187 yards and 2 TDs. Settles will drive home in a brand new 2007 Corvette for his efforts.
