World Bowl XXX was held in Houston, Texas and the game was a near sellout (97%). I guess the 3% who didn't buy tickets were mad that they wouldn't see the Gamblers go for title #9. The 66,129 that were there saw a great, competitive game that was in doubt until the final 2 minutes.

Portland Storm 19 New Orleans VooDoo 10

Portland got the ball first and were driving when Oscar Sanders lost a fumble trying for YAC and New Orleans got the ball in Storm territory. Portland's defense held strong as James Danner sacked Willie Graham on 4th down, keeping the game scoreless early. A couple of drives later, Portland took a 7-0 lead when Raymond Oswalt found World Bowl XXX MVP James Kendrick for a 55 yard TD pass.

The game would stay 7-0 until the middle of the 2nd when John Barrentine scored on a 3 yard run with Mark Adams' XP tying the game at 7. Portland would attempt a 60 yard FG at the 2 minute warning, which was short, allowing New Orleans good field position. Mark Adams nailed a 24 yard FG at the end of the half to give the VooDoo a 10-7 lead.

The Portland defense came out strong in the 3rd qtr, forcing a punt. The Storm offense then drove 70 yards in 13 plays, tying the game on an Adams 28 yard FG. Portland's defense forced another punt, then a 6 play FG drive for a 13-10 Storm lead. Portland's defense forced yet another punt and this time the Storm FG drive took 12 plays.

All of that action takes us to the middle of the 4th with Portland enjoying a 16-10 lead. Would all of those short FGs come back to haunt the Storm? New Orleans was forced to punt again with 6:00 to play but the VooDoo defense held strong and forced a punt of their own, finally.

New Orleans was in 4 down mode now, trailing by 6 with time running out. They turned it over on downs outside the 2 minute warning, leading to yet another Mark Adams FG. That pushed the lead to 19-10, meaning the VooDoo needed 2 scores in 1:48 with just 1 timeout. New Orleans ran out of time and downs around midfield and the Portland Storm are World Bowl XXX Champions.

Portland WR James Kendricks was named World Bowl XXX MVP by the MFN Committee amid controversy. This game had no outstanding statistical performances, so some voted for Kendricks because he scored the first TD. There were others who wanted to give it to K Mark Adams, including myself. The yelling and arguing turned into a melee and I got hit in the head by a chair flying through the air, or maybe it was a laptop, idrk. When I came to, MFN had already announced Kendrick as MVP as you can see from the player awards on our homepage. As a result, he drives home in a brand new 2004 Chevy Corvette, pictured below.

I could be mistaken, but I suspect the person who threw the chair was Donald Trump, as once he heard I wanted to step down, decided he wanted to buy the league (and ruin it like he did the rl USFL). He may have knocked me out but he didn't F me to death (a South Park reference from when Mr. Garrison was a **** sandwich), and he's gone to do whatever he's doing now.
