Jeff Fisher gets a bad wrap in my opinion. 16+ seasons as head coach of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans plus 5 seasons as head coach of the Rams before being fired in 2016.
15 seasons of finishing 8-8 or worse plus 6 seasons with 10 or more wins yet he finished with a 173-165-1 overall record.
Like Greg said he went 7-9 4 times in his career plus a 7-8-1 thrown in. His most common record was actually 8-8 which he achieved 5 times.
So he finished between 7-9 to 8-8 10 times in 20 full seasons as head coach. He won at least 6 games in 18 of 20 full seasons with 4-12 being his worse record.
I'm a huge Baltimore Ravens fan and remember those great Tennessee Titans teams from 1999-2003. We had to beat them in Tennessee to win our first Superbowl then Tennessee came up 1 yard short from winning a Superbowl of their own versus "the Greatest show on Turf".
I can think of a few teams in recent memory who would sign up for a 7-9 or 8-8 season including Detroit and both New York teams (I know Buffalo is the only actual New York team).
Fisher should have gotten another shot and glad to see him getting one in the USFL.
