3 weeks to go in the regular season, so it's time to start looking at playoff scenarios. We have 7 of 12 spots spoken for but we also still have a lot to decide, especially seeding.

American Conference

Clinched BYE: None

Clinched Division: San Jose, Houston

Clinched Playoff Spot: Portland, Denver*(according to MFN)

In The Hunt: Los Angeles, Chicago, Michigan, Memphis, Detroit

San Jose and Houston previously clinched their divisions and will get first round BYES if the standings stay the same. Portland now leads the West at 11-2 and will be at least a wildcard even if Denver catches them. If the Gold don't, they will at least be a wildcard according to MFN. The Gold can be caught by Los Angeles, Michigan and/or Chicago if Denver goes 0-3 so I think they may not have clinched yet. Should be a moot point if Denver beats the Sun this week.

Chicago has won 5 in a row and are now tied with Michigan for the Midwest lead. We have 5 teams listed in the hunt, and only 2 will make the playoffs, the Midwest winner and the #6 seed. Los Angeles is 8-5 and is currently the #6 seed according to MFN, meaning Michigan really needs to beat Chicago Week 15. Memphis (7-6) and Detroit (6-7) are still alive but need to win and get help.

Remaining Schedule

San Jose (@ DET, @ HON, @ PORT)
Houston (@ MICH, @ OKL, vs BOS)
Portland (vs OAK, @ DEN, vs SJ)
Denver (vs SCS, vs PORT, vs DET)
Chicago (@ OKL, @ MICH, vs SA)
Michigan (@ HOU, vs CHI, @ ORL)
Los Angeles (@ CLE, @ SHR, vs OAK)
Memphis (vs NJ, vs SA, vs HON)
Detroit (vs SJ, @ TB, @ DEN)

National Conference

Clinched BYE: None

Clinched Division: Orlando, Washington, New Jersey

Clinched Playoff Spot: None

In The Hunt: Shreveport, Georgia, Baltimore, Florida, Tampa Bay, Boston, Philadelphia

Orlando and Washington clinched their divisions first and should end up with both BYES as they have a 2 game lead on New Jersey, and the Federals own a tiebreaker thanks to a head to head win over the Generals.

Shreveport and Georgia were tied atop the South, but the Steamer beat the Force this week for a 1 game lead. If the season ended today, Georgia would be on the outside looking in as Florida and Baltimore are currently 7-6 and hold the wildcard spots.

Tampa Bay, Boston, and Philadelphia are all 5-8, 2 games behind the Blazers and Stars. Those teams need to get hot and win out while one of Florida/Baltimore tank.

Remaining Schedule

Orlando (vs NO, @ FLA, vs MICH)
Washington (vs CHA, vs PITT, @ CHA)
New Jersey (@ MEM, @ PHI, vs NY)
Shreveport (@ TB, vs LA, @ BLT)
Georgia (@ JAX, vs BIRM, vs TB)
Baltimore (@ PITT, vs OAK, vs SHR)
Florida (vs BIRM, vs ORL, vs CLE)
Tampa Bay (vs SHR, vs DET, @ GA)
Boston (vs PHI, @ NY, @ HOU)
Philadelphia (@ BOS, vs NJ, @ JAX)

Week 14 is in the books and the National Conference field is set except for seeding. Four of six spots are spoken for in the American Conference and four more teams are in play for the Midwest title and last wildcard.

American Conference

Clinched BYE: None

Clinched Division: San Jose, Houston

Clinched Playoff Spot: Portland, Denver

In The Hunt: Chicago, Michigan, Los Angeles, Memphis

Possible Standings Glitch: Detroit

Houston now has the inside track for home field thanks to San Jose's loss to Detroit. Despite the win, MFN says the Wheels are eliminated but I'm not so sure. The division could be theirs in the event of a 3 way tie. If Detroit wins their last 2, Chicago loses their last 2 and Michigan splits (Michigan plays Chicago this week, someone has to win) they would all end up 9-7. According to NFL tiebreakers, a 3 way tie is first broken by head to head among the teams and Detroit is 3-1 while Michigan and Chicago would be 2-2.

Denver and Portland face off in Week 15 with the winner likely winning the division. If Portland wins, they will be division champs with a 2 game lead heading to the final week. If Denver wins, they will tie the Storm and have the tiebreaker thanks to a sweep, but would still need to win Week 16 or have Portland lose to San Jose.

Denver or Portland will have 1 of the wildcards and Los Angeles has the other one right now. Memphis and Michigan are both 1 game back of the Express.

Remaining Schedule

San Jose (@ HON, @ PORT)
Houston (@ OKL, vs BOS)
Portland (@ DEN, vs SJ)
Denver (vs PORT, vs DET)
Chicago (@ MICH, vs SA)
Michigan (vs CHI, @ ORL)
Los Angeles (@ SHR, vs OAK)
Memphis (vs SA, vs HON)
Detroit (@ TB, @ DEN)

National Conference

Clinched BYE: Orlando, Washington

Clinched Division: New Jersey, Shreveport

Clinched Wildcard: Baltimore, Florida *(possible standings glitch https://usflwfl.myfootballnow.com/forums/1/2161?page=1&x=bE1xDWQ5Yj#13478)

Possible Standings Glitch: Georgia

Washington and Orlando are tied for the #1 seed with 13-1 records, but the Federals loss was a non conference loss, which means they have the inside track to not leave home. Either way, the Renegades and Federals have the BYES.

New Jersey is the #3 seed, Shreveport #4.

MFN says Baltimore and Florida are the wildcards, but if Florida and Georgia end up tied at 8-8, the Force have a head to head win. The key will be how many 8-8 teams are tied, as a 3 or 4 way tie hurts Georgia as the head to head win over Florida doesn't come into play.

It's possible we have a 4 way tie with Florida, Georgia, Baltimore, and Boston. Unfortunately for the Breakers, it looks like they truly are eliminated. A 3 or 4 way tie is first broken if one team beat all the others or lost to all the others, which doesn't apply this season. Next is conference record, which would mean MFN is right and Florida and Baltimore advance.
