Burt is only 5-11 and in his eighth year, so I wonder how to add that weight. Could temporarily switching him to DT help?

That could work but if he's always been a DE, I can let 3 lbs slide. The spirit of the rule is to keep LB sized players out of DL positions so I look at Burt differently than Michigan's Smith.

Possible Depth Issues

Charlotte Play a 4-3 defense with just 6 DL on roster (1 is hurt) This will force the 5 healthy DL to log too many preseason snaps, exposing them to injury and forcing LB into a DE role. Please sign/trade for depth ASAP

Tampa Bay Play a 3-4 defense with 6 DL on roster. Leaving yourself no margin for error or injury.

Philadelphia Play a 4-3 defense with 7 DL on roster. Keep an eye on their health.

Fixed Depth Issues

Memphis Signed 4 DL bringing them to 8 total for a 4-3 defense. Thank you.

Chicago Signed a DL to bring them up to 8 total for a 4-3 defense. Thank you.

Weight Issues

Michigan LDE Chris Smith, 246 lbs. The 13th year vet will need to be moved to LB or cut before Week 1.

Orlando LDE Walter Pearson, 221 lbs. He is a rookie but he will not gain 44 lbs in 2 weeks, so he will either need to be inactive until/if he makes weight or moved to another position.

LDE David Crocker, 253 lbs. He is an 8th year vet, and I didn't write down his weight last week but he is currently 12 lbs underweight. I need to check weight gain to make a determination.

DT Todd Sarvis, 263 lbs. The 4th year vet is only 2 lbs underweight. He should be able to gain a couple pounds, we'll see though.

RDE Ricardo Seese, 250 lbs. He is a 3rd year vet so a 15 lb weight gain is possible. If it doesn't happen by Week 1, he'll need to be inactive or move to LB.

New Orleans LDE Lawrence Kennedy, 254 lbs, LDE Glenn Miller 255 lbs. Both are vets who may or may not make weight. MWD did not get the lead time last season the rest of us did, and he is attempting to comply, so I'll exempt these 2 players.

Pittsburgh LDE Larry Burt 262 lbs. The 8th year vet needs to gain 3 lbs. Take him out on Taco Tuesday and fatten him up.

Washington RDE Charles Peterson, 244 lbs. The 2nd year pro is 21 pounds light, so if he doesn't get to 265, he'll need to be inactive or moved to LB.

New York DT Anthony Dorey, 257 lbs. The rookie should be able to gain 8 lbs, but if he can't, he'll need to be inactive or switch positions.

Let's check in with the underweight players.

Michigan RDE Chris Smith actually lost 5 lbs and was cut. Charlotte signed him, probably unaware of the weight issue, but I sent him a PM letting him know Smith needs moved to LB.

Orlando RDE Walter Pearson up to 225, a 4 lb gain. He will need to switch positions or be inactive come Week 1.

LDE David Crocker up to 256. He gained 3 lbs, leaving him 9 short. If he gains a few more prior to Week 1, I'll probably allow him to be active as a DE.

DT Todd Sarvis gained 3 lbs, making him a legal 266 lbs now.

RDE Ricardo Seese gained 4 lbs, now at 254. Not sure what I'll do if he only gains another 4 lbs before Week 1. Given the number of DL Orlando has and the fact Crocker might be allowed, I'm not inclined to give 2 passes. We'll wait and see what the scales say.

New Orleans Kennedy gained 3 lbs (now 257) and Miller gained 5 (now 260). They are moving in the right direction.

Pittsburgh Burt is still 262 lbs so it seems that's his max. He is an 8 year vet and only off 3 lbs. and so far, nobody has said they have an issue with letting him slide.

Washington Charles Peterson has been moved to a LB and lost 3 lbs as a result.

New York DT Anthony Dorey gained 5 lbs and is now 262, just 3 lbs short. He is a rookie moving in the right direction and I expect he'll gain at least 3 lbs before Week 1 anyway.

Just so we're all clear. I play a 4-3. How many DL am I supposed to have?

Also, I need to move a WR to RB (I just realized this) because I only have 2. It will take a few weeks for him to get up to weight.

To be honest, I have been on auto pilot this preseason.

There are no mandatory roster minimums, so keep however many you need so a LB doesn't come in for depth.

As far as that WR being turned into a RB, you are a year early. I don't want to shock everyone by throwing all the rules at them at once, so I'm spreading it out. That no WR as a RB rule is for next season.

It's fine about the RB anyway. I'm converting a FB to RB instead since he's my KR. I'm also going pass heavy so I should only need 2-3 RBs.

I shouldn't need to rotate any LBs to DL given how rare injuries are on the DL. I will likely pick up another one or two as depth once cuts start.
