I'm getting my depth chart ready for training camp and I noticed I still have some slower LB listed as ST rusher.
Starting this season, no more LB of any speed are allowed on the defensive line, including punt block formation. In regards to punt block formation, it's for
the front 4 only. LB are allowed on the wings or anywhere that isn't the front 4 along the line of scrimmage.
On defense, all defensive lineman must weigh 266 lbs,
no more LB as DE depth. Please check your rosters to make sure you have enough DL depth. If not, use the preseason to beef up a LB or 2, or sign someone. If you are converting a LB to a DE, please let me know so I can monitor their weight gain. I will allow underweight DL so long as they are recently converted LB who are in the process of gaining the proper weight.
I'm not trying to be Mr. Hard Case but we've known this was coming since last season. I want to see everyone try to comply and we'll handle issues on a case by case basis as things come up.
As of now, we do not require actual DT but that may be in the cards for the future. I want to see how we all handle this first.

Speaking of getting ready for a rule change, starting in 1993 (next season),
ball carriers must be RB/FB/QB. No more WR carrying the ball from the backfield. I realize that this is in contrast to real NFL, but the real NFL also does not have WR carry the ball 10-15 times a game. I'd love to have jet sweeps and reverses in the playbook, but we don't.
Nothing needs to be done right now unless you want to get a jump on someone's weight gain. I'm just letting everyone know so you can plan for the future.
