Re: Leaguewide Roster Review

I'm always waiting until the last minute but I just finished my roster review for all 32 teams.

League Average # of Players at each position

QB 2.2
RB 3.1
FB 1.15
TE 2.15
WR 6.6
OL 10.75
P/K 2.15
DL 8.4
LB 6.9
DB 8.8

*Most teams carry 2 QB but 8 teams have 3 while two teams have just 1.
*10 teams carry less than 3 RB, which is odd, given the 3.1 average per team. Two teams have no RB whatsoever while one team has 1.
*FB and TE can be lumped together somewhat, as we have 7 teams with no FB, 4 teams with no TE, with 2 teams being on both lists with zero FB/TE.
*29 of 32 teams carry between 5-8 WR, with 1 team carrying only 4, one team with 9 and another with 13.
*24 of 32 teams carry between 10-12 OL with 4 teams carrying 9 and 4 teams 13 or more
*4 teams carry more than 1 P and 1 K, with 1 team having 3 punters
*29 of 32 teams have between 7-10 DL with 1 team having 11, 1 has 6 and 1 has 5
*26 of 32 teams carry between 6-8 LB with 3 teams below 6 (all carry 5) and 2 teams have 9, 1 has 10
*23 of 32 teams have between 8-10 DB, no team has less than 7 while 3 teams have 11 or more with a high of 13

Observations and Thoughts

For the most part everyone's roster looks pretty normal and I only saw a handful of lightweight OL. I have absolutely no problem if teams don't want to carry a FB but I do have a problem with teams having no TE either. Someone has to play TE, so the AI or your overrides will substitute in a lighter, often faster player. That's no different than using LB on the DL, it's an exploit so that will have to stop.

The WR as a RB will need to stop as well, and in 1993 that rule will take effect, or the season after next. You will still be able to use them as a dual threat, but if they are gonna run the ball, they will need to be RB weight.

The rest of it seems to be mostly normal with a few outliers so for the upcoming season we will concentrate on getting everyone's DL stocked with depth because LB won't be allowed to play DL next season.
