Just want to make sure I understand this. Who gets charged with the approximately $3.5 million signing bonus towards their dead cap for the next 5 years, therefore reducing their cap space

So the NY Stars gets a great player who signed for $7.6 million over 5 years, (1.52 mill/yr) for $4.25 (845 thousand/yr) .... a difference of $675 thousand/yr .... not counted towards NY Stars' cap, if I am understanding this correctly.

Not that I do not approve of the trade, just trying to get a better understanding of effects of trading has on the cap.

If you cut or trade a player or he retires, you are stuck with the balance of his bonus money.
