World Bowl XXXVIII Preview
by raidergreg69 @ 8/09/2024 3:15 am
World Bowl XXXVIII

New Orleans VooDoo (17-1) vs San Jose SaberCats (14-5)

Point Spread: San Jose -3

New Orleans: Offense 2nd Defense 1st
San Jose: Offense 1st Defense 15th

Playoff Records:New Orleans 35-24 San Jose 17-19

World Bowl Records:San Jose 2-0 (Won: XXVII, XXXVII) New Orleans 3-5 (Won: XXXI, XXXV, XXXVI; Lost: III, VII, XVIII, XXVII, XXX)

Head to Head: San Jose beat New Orleans 16-7 in World Bowl XXVII. New Orleans is 6-4 versus San Jose all time in the regular season, winning in 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987, 2003, and 2007 while San Jose won in 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2011.

Injuries:New Orleans 3 probable, 1 questionable, 1 doubtful San Jose 8 probable

Prediction:San Jose 16 New Orleans 13

I literally flipped a coin to decide whom to pick, although I was leaning San Jose pre flip. New Orleans has a top 2 offense and defense while San Jose has a middle of the pack defense but San Jose won head to head Week 15. New Orleans was preparing for the playoffs all season while San Jose had literal playoff games from Week 5 on, with little margin for error after their early season hole. This game could go either way and I don't expect a blowout. Good luck guys.

The very best to both teams.

If I had to put money on....I think VooDoo win above the spread.

Final score prediction: 30-21 VooDoo.

I made a mis-call on how he'd play one set and it set off the sim with the holding penalties. 5 straight games of deep chess piece moving on offense and shifting major since week 5 - most work i have done in a season. AG, Legend and then 3 playoff opponents. On the 6th one i tried to sneak back to passing in that one set and it failed. Good game Legend.

I know you fell one win short of your goal but that was a great job turning your season around. After 0-4 it would have been easy to say F it, this season is done. Instead you put in the work and it paid off.

Good game. The early holding penalties certainly helped to get a lead. Which once I had one you went for it on 4th down regardless of position on the field. Did you mean to do that?

Congratulations, Legend. Dynasty secured.

Hat's off to Smirt on going from 0-4 to the title game.

Yes, in this case. I could have kept it tight and lost with us both sub 20 but I would have lost. The threshold was 9. Playing conservative isn't going to get it done. You find your way to a TD then it is 16 and basically 3 scores. I emptied out the clip and thought you would be hoodwinked on the 311 coming off the brx game plan.

Actually, the threshold was 8, so 15 with a TD and 3 scores with my 2-pointers not in play...if in the conservative game plan.

You were the toughest team to game plan for this season. The plays you call and how you call them are nicely set up. I wasn’t even sure what I put together would work. I caught some breaks early that really helped.
