Injured Reserve

I don't know if this will help anyone but I suspect it might. Did you know we have injured reserve? Of course we have no option for them to return, but I'm seeing roster spots not used.

I'm working on the playoff previews and noticed a couple teams have players listed as out but not on IR. They are out like 11 weeks so no way they return for the World Bowl so I don't understand why they don't get put on IR.

Players have to sign a contract if it's offered, meaning you can put someone on IR and sign a free agent for a minimal contract to fill that spot. If they have just 1 offer on the table and it's for league minimum with no bonus, they must sign. Use that to your advantage.

I have a guy that is Doubtful - 9 weeks, but I don't have the option to put him on IR. I have had this happen a lot. I don't know why the IR option isn't available.

If you sign a player after putting someone on IR, your team homepage will say you have 54 players under contract (if you have a full 53 man roster beforehand). That's legal, and if you want to check to be sure, go to your depth chart, it will say 53.

I currently have 1 player on IR, and regardless of whether I'm on my phone or PC, my team homepage shows 54 under contract while depth chart shows 53. Both are technically correct as the homepage tells you all contracts, the depth chart only shows eligible players who can actually play.

That is something JDB should fix. If a player has 10% health, he can't be put on IR, only once it hits 0%.

Maybe post this in the suggestion box? Can't hurt to ask I guess.

Yeah, I have a Q7 with no option for IR so just another issue JDB needs to add to his list.

Considering the NFL has 2 IR players per team who are eligible to return he should fix that too.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the NFL also has a 4 week IR but I'm not sure if there is a limit for how many times teams can do this.

I was sorta right and wrong...here's a link to the new injured reserve rules for the NFL. Each team can re-activate up to 8 players from injured reserve.

Plus a 16 man practice squad where we have nĂ da

While I 100% agree JDB should update our IR rules, we're getting away from the original point I'm trying to make. We have owners with players who are IR eligible not using those spots.

Maybe it's just me but I'm a big believer in maximizing opportunities and having a chance to add a healthy body to the end of the roster this time of year is huge. There is minimal cap risk as well. I get that free agency doesn't offer much useful help but I'm sure there are some seasoned vets that could provide decent depth to cover the injuries.
