The USFL part 2 is about to start and I get to watch the real life New Jersey Generals play the Birmingham Stallions. I hope the league succeeds because I like all football.
Generals lost but they deserved to win the game...their kicker cost em bigtime.
My Gamblers looked good...especially their front 7 on defense.
I like some of the new rules....like the option for a 1, 2 or 3 point conversion and the 4th and 12 option in place of the onside kick plus the overtime shootout should be fun to watch

I like the helmet cams and being able to hear pre snap communication.

It was interesting to watch a 2 QB situation actually work

I liked the pre-snap communication also. Allowing the coordinator to talk to the QB up to the snap will help the level of play. Probably necessary due to only 3 weeks of work, but nice way to help the QB's especially with the hot reads.
I thought the drone-cam was too...erratic? Cool concept, but I had a tough time following the punts for instance. I couldn't find the ball. If they could find a way to get the cam to stay centered on the ball, it would be cool.
Helmet-cam was neat. The New Orleans pick 6 via helmet cam was awesome.
I don't have a favorite team yet, although I've always liked Luis Perez (Birm).
If I went by uniform/helmet design, I liked the Breakers.

Hopefully the quality of play will improve throughout the season but I agree hearing the communication between the coach and QB added another level and I applaud the announcers for shutting up so we could listen at points in the game.

I found myself really pulling for the Generals, almost as if they were my own team haha. Btw, you can also hear a lot of the on field communication on the radio broadcasts. Not sure if they just used the TV feed or if they have separate radio guys, but it was on Fox Sports Radio.
If anyone bets on the games, Pittsburgh has to play again in 5 days. The Maulers were supposed to play Sunday night but it got postponed to last night and they also play Saturday at noon. I'm sure that will be factored in the spread but they play a team that is also 0-1.
The only significant crowd was for the local team, so I'm wondering if the Stallions will get an extra boost from that. Remember, every game is in Birmingham until the playoffs, when they go to Canton for some odd reason.

I hope it makes it! I love Hockey but my original passion was baseball but years of mismanaging the league/strikes/competitive in balance has turned the MLB into an after thought for myself.
Their was a time that I watched my teams games every night and now if I tune in...it's only for a few innings. My love of statistics was born with baseball and while I've carried that thru my whole life....my passion for baseball has waned..
The USFL has a chance to make it and with the NFL sorta helping...maybe it will !!
Week 2 was interesting. New Jersey is lucky to be 1-1 after they got all conservative and left the door open for Michigan. The Generals can run the ball well but I don't like switching QBs so often, hard for either one to get in a rhythm coming out every couple plays. Maybe go series to series.
Not surprised Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh as the Maulers had a short turnaround, playing last Monday then again at noon Saturday. The game was back and forth with some scoring and the Stars converted a 3 point conversion after a TD.
Saturday night Birmingham and Houston went back and forth in the first half before the Stallions pulled away in the 3rd quarter and held on for the win to improve to 2-0.
I was glad to see Todd Haley's team get beat handily, not a fan of his. Tampa Bay couldn't handle the New Orleans offense and the Breakers crushed the Bandits 34-3. New Orleans had the best offensive performance I've seen as QB Kyle Sloter kept putting the ball where it needed to be. Their WR Adams made a few spectacular catches, including some excellent footwork on a 2 point catch.
Interesting tidbit, Sloter has been in 26 of 32 NFL camps and apparently is a preseason stud. Idrk because despite my love for football, idc about preseason at all and pay very little attention.
It's currently in the 2nd quarter of the night game between New Jersey and Philadelphia. I don't have Peacock so I'm listening on SiriusXM app on my computer while I game plan and stuff. The Generals offense continue to generate yards but leave points on the field...it cost them week 1 and they almost lost last week when they should have won comfortably. They're only down 7-0 but the offense needs to finish drives, maybe settling on 1 QB would help but what do I know.
Houston is kind of in the same boat as New Jersey, they lost last night to Tampa Bay thanks to special teams and a timeout that helped the Bandits kicker make the game winner.
Birmingham and New Orleans are probably the best 2 teams and I think the Stallions get a boost from being the 1 team with fans in the stands.
Michigan looked good today against Pittsburgh but I'm not sure if their offense is any good. The Panthers play good defense but imo the Maulers are the worst team in the league.
Overall the football quality seems to be getting better but still a lot of room for improvement.
