NFL Talk

I am just so excited about the latest NFL trade I had to post about it. Not only did my Raiders get the best WR in the NFL in Davante Adams, Derek Carr was his college QB, which means no more Carr trade rumors. It's a great day in Raider Nation.

Could they have handled their QB situation any worse? Even if they do trade him, they killed his trade value with that "adult QB" column.

All the higher up are denying that anyone said that.

Personally, I didn't want Watson, too much baggage with him. But Mayfield certainly has been disappointing. They will probably just keep him, he'll throw for 5000 yards and 50 TDs and leave as a free agent after next season to give them a big F U

Even if nobody said that, they still publicly went after a QB when they had a so called franchise QB already under contract. If he really is immature, then they should have known Baker would be upset about it and ask to be traded. I don't hear Matt Ryan whining...yet.

As a Bengals fan, I actually want the Browns to be good. Cleveland in a Super Bowl would be awesome.

I also know you need a generational QB to do anything in that league and Baker ain't it. He's okay, but okay doesn't cut it. Think Andy Dalton.

Cincy had a perfect storm of Mikey's daughter taking over (she spends) and drafting Joe Burrow. You still gotta dump Mayfield though, he's free-agent poison. Take a flier on Famous Jameis before the Colts grab him. It's a transitional year in Cleveland anyway. Winston is at least...entertaining.

Living in Dayton my whole life, I've always liked the Bengals and I root for them against everyone but the Raiders. Wildcard Weekend was weird for me, as was the late 80's when Bo got hurt in that playoff game. After that, I can tolerate Cleveland and I absolutely hate Pittsburgh and Baltimore. IMO the Ravens shouldn't exist because the Browns should have never left Cleveland while Baltimore should have been the expansion team the "new" Browns were.

There are way too many Steelers fans in Dayton. Anyway, interesting comparison, Dalton/Mayfield. I've never been a Baker believer, but I find it curious the Browns seemingly have no plan. Maybe they can get Matt Ryan once Watson picks the Falcons. Could be just me but I don't think Jameis Winston would be a good fit in Cleveland.

One name I think would be a good fit in Cleveland is currently under contract somewhere else, but maybe they could trade for Gardner Minshew. Browns fans would absolutely LOVE that dude.

And HOLY ****, Watson IS going to the Browns. The off-field stuff still weighs on me, but from a pure football stance, the Browns got a whole lot better today.

It appears its Watson to the Browns for multiple 1st rounders and a $230m contract. Where will Mayfields plane ticket be heading. Quite a few options out there.

On the Adams trade:
Per a great article by Bill Barnwell from espn. Not because he may be right or wrong but because of the depth of the article. Only 4 WR's in the history of the NFL have had multiple season in the top 5 after age 29. Those were Marvin Harrison, Cris Carter, Terrell Owens and Jerry Rice.

Davante Adams contract breakdown https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/18/inside-the-davante-adams-three-year-67-5-million-deal-as-a-practical-matter/. It's basically a 3 year $67.5 million deal. There is over $72 million the last 2 years, so if he's not playing at an elite level, they'll cut him before 2025.
