Blockbuster deal!
Team needs a shake up, been clearing house since arrival at end of last season and haven't finished yet. The purge on the old and the slow will continue as we plan to inject youth and speed across the board. Going to splurge on a QB, there were three I liked in what looks to be a decent crop of rookie rock throwers. Certainly amongst the best (potentially) coming out of College that I've seen in any League.
So, who are we selecting? Emory Howard out of Purdue, positives are his big arm and second to none accuracy. He has the potential to be a good scrambling QB, when the League relaxes it's rules with regards to QB's scrambling. The main concern is his lack of football smarts, which will no doubt mean he loses focus from time to time and makes 'brainfart' type errors.
We've sold the farm to a certain extent to get Howard and he should be 'game ready' for GW1. The D now becomes the main focus in the next stage of the rebuild, having addressed some of the Offensive shortcomings in free agency. Special teams have had a, much needed, injection of youth and we'll start the season with a new Kicker, Punter and Kick Holder. A Long way to go, and probably three seasons before we start to see the benefits.

I'm not sure Howard is a #1 overall pick let alone the best QB in the draft but to each his own.
He may have fallen to 18th in the 1st round but besides intelligence and pass accuracy...I rate look off defense and field of vision as 3a and 3b in my QB ratings order so I would have taken a flyer on Henderson first if he fell to out of the top ten.
IMO LB Angel Mckinney is the top pick on this draft with RB Michael "Gold Metal" Johnson up there.

For the QB I would take a chance on Henderson or People before Howard, but like CJ said, to each their own. Overall I like McKinney best, Flannery second as a DE.

Looking at the three of them there are question marks about all three. I see Howard as the lowest risk.
Henderson has 25/100 for pass accuracy and 76 volatility - that's a huge risk, throw in his dreadful record for fumbling in College (avoid fumble 6/20) and there are major red flags in picking him. He would've been my 3rd option, and would have been unlikely to be 'game ready' until season 3.
People has 56 volatility and like Howard is ready to go straight out of the box with strong accuracy/arm strength/passing release. He's probably more suited to a scrambling game than Howard and is likely going to be the best of the three. However like Henderson he will cough the ball up regularly (avoid fumble 9/15). With the upcoming rule changes (when jdb eventually updates to 0.4.6) People will be fun to watch - exasperating and brilliant in equal measure.
Howard probably has the lowest ceiling of the three but also the highest floor. His volatility is the lowest (24) by some distance, if his laser eye surgery is successful, he'll have vastly improved field of vision. He's the least 'flashy' of the three and may never be truly elite, but he looks a safe bet to hold the fort for now.
IF you pushed me, I'd say Henderson will either be a stud or a complete dud - my spidey sense says he'll bust hard and wind up nursing bottles of scotch at the five and dime, telling tales to anyone who'll listen about how he was going to be the next great USFL QB.
People is a coin flip and could well be the steal of the draft, I've weighed up all three and I'm content that I have the right man. There are two or three other 'chancey' QB's in this draft class and I may take another one, if they stay around long enough.
Always good to get others opinions but as many of you who've known me around other leagues know, I'm not scared of making 'strange' moves and making them work.

Nothing wrong with zigging while everyone else zags. Everyone has different things they look for in players, which is what makes drafting fun. Speaking of drafting, we aren't talking about how this deal helps Arizona. It's no secret the Wranglers need help, and while the #1 overall pick surely would help, the haul of draft picks helps more imo.

Totally agree with this. When you have multiple needs, multiple picks can be a real asset.

The deal is weighted heavily in Arizona's favour, but no-one's going to give up the #1 pick cheaply. He gets 4 goes to sign someone who will have a bigger impact than Howard. IF Howard busts, he can't lose on the deal.

I was just offering my honest opinion, while I have many holes as an owner and I am far from the best out there. I am sort of a quarterback whisperer.
I've had incredible success throughout all my leagues developing QBs. I have the Alltime leading passer in the XFL and Quick and the Dead both entering season 15. The 2nd Alltime leading passer in World and Champions both entering season 9 and I'm 14 alltime passing in the USFL which is entering its 19th season (my 9th). I'm currently on pace to reach either #1 or #2 depending on when Tony Dean retires.
My success has hinged on having QBs with near 100 pass accuracy, field of vision, look off defense and intelligence.
Speed and scramble are 5th and 6th
Arm strength, avoid fumble, pass release, hard count are nearly meaningless to me. Tony Dean has 66 arm strength and 34 avoid fumble. He consistently is top 3 in passing yards and always near the top in TDs, completion percentage, yards per attempt and passer rating. He has 5 career fumbles during 8,343 snaps.
I have no doubt who you are selecting is a 1st round pick, my opinion is he isnt the #1 overall pick because (like you said) he can never be elite and he definately isn't worth 3 1st round picks plus a 2nd. Only Henderson at QB has a chance to become elite.
I was just offering my educated opinion since you posted who you were taking and I assumed you wanted honest feedback.
On the plus side, he will have 100 pass accuracy and be ready week 1 boom or bust.
