Defensive Backfield

I am asking the Community, what is your preferred number of DB's.
The Position Distribution says it recommends having 7, but it doesn't say how many CB, FS, and SS one should have.
I currently have 3CB, 2FS, and 2SS.
What's yours?

7 is good. I think I go for 8 on most of my squads... but that depends on if I can get a better talent somewhere else.

If you have that rare LB that can be a Back Up SS, or something like that, you can get away with 6.

I'll go with a 4th CB and they are also the 3rd SS/FS

I always keep around 5 corners and 4 safeties. That's my preference especially when you need depth and if you play quarters or dime a good amount. When i first started i only had a few corners and i played a team that passed almost every down and the second half of the game i was getting destroyed cause my corners were so tired. It also depends on the type of formations you prefer on defense but i usually find some skill players that can play multiple positions so i can keep more dbs :)

I prefer to carry 5 CBs with 2 SS and 2 FS.

My Back Ups tend to work 'both sides'. For instance, my Back Up DE mans both the LDE and the RDE. Same for my CB3 and my S3... they are 1st Man Up for CB1/CB2 and FS/SS.

If I were doing LDE2 and RDE2 then I'd use more, but I find at the end of my Season that my CB5 gets like 4 snaps all year, my DE4 gets like 20, and my S4 gets like none.

I'll even use my S3 as an extra CB if he's talented, often as my NB or DB.

I had a S3 in MFN-7 last Season, this year I'm only rocking 4 CB and 2 S total. I'm not expecting to much of an issue here (I traded my Starting FS and had cut a Back Up S Pre-Draft who wasn't that good).

Notice how my RDE2, LDE2 and DT3 are the same guy. Baker and Grooms will get maybe 20 snaps all Season... combined.

At LB, K. Scott likely won't see 25 Plays total, more likely Less than 10 (unless Injury, of course).

It's really about how comfortable you are with Injury Risk.

I use overrides more than most to rotate guys since i have very good backups in most leagues. So my db depth is more important
